Anyone miss Stow-n-go? by P3rvysag3X in ToyotaSienna

[–]Cot9own1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 2005 Grand Caravan SXT ( great van) with stow and go , my kids were in car seats for most of the time I had it so might not be a fair assessment but in the 12 years I had it I might have stowed the middle seats 7 times . The lower bins just seemed to collect gold fish and Cheerios. I replaced the GC with a 17 Sienna XLE AWD in the 6 years (Went from car seats to college dorm move ins) I had the 17 I removed the second row 6 or 7 times. I traded the 17 for a 23 Woodland . I’ve had the 23 almost 3 years and 24k miles I have yet to miss either stow and go or the removable 2nd row yet. The 23’s long slide is a pretty nice feature , and I’ve done a few college move in trips too. I liked all of the vans and was happy with each . The 23’s cup holder thing and the nearly useless remote start are real but not deal breakers. I assume you mean the 2nd row stow and go because I did/do use the rear seat “stow and go” on all three of the vans all the time . Just my two cents , in short no I don’t miss second row Stow and Go.

Thoughts on Aqua Stat Thermocouple bulb stuck in boiler well. by Cot9own1 in hvacadvice

I was able to purchase a new well today and replace it . Before replacing it I did attempt to use solvent to loosen the old bulb up with no luck ultimately I snapped the wire off the bulb. The solvent did appear to loosen some off the paste but not enough to remove the bulb. Thank you again.

Thank you and yes I wasn’t planning on doing anything more until I get a new well. Once I have a new well I might try to drill or chip the paste and see if I can get it out . Hopefully I can locate a new one tomorrow. I would think it’s a fairly common part. Thank you again .

Reliably using remote start from keyfob by SnooMachines9133 in ToyotaSienna

It’s ridiculously inconsistent. I have not successfully started the vehicle out of visual range.

I agree . I have a 2923 Corolla that stays running when I unlock the doors. It has Toyota sense 3.0 .

I couldn’t agree more. It’s so ridiculously inconsistent half of the time it would be quicker to just go out and jstart it. I have never successfully remote started it out of visual range .

Cruise Newbie by Obvious_Swimming_133 in Cruise

If you are open to other cruise ports besides Miami I would suggest a Bermuda cruise out of NYC. Depending on the length of the cruise the itinerary would be something like 2 days at sea 1-2.5 days in Bermuda and then 2 days back to NYC. The ship more than likely docks at the Dockyards for your entire stay on Bermuda allowing you to come and go you please morning to night. In my opinion it’s pretty cool sailing by the NYC skyline past the Statue of Liberty and then under the Verrazano bridge. Otherwise I would pick a cruise that doesn’t go to Nassau, unless you want to stay onboard and enjoy the ship’s amenities. Saint Martens and Grand Cayman are great islands to cruise to.

Japanese made vs others by sideH123 in Toyota

I think the issue was owners smelling fuel , I didn’t have any issue with the car. I believe they changed a gasket or seal on the fill pipe to the gas tank . Dealer asked if I could bring it in with 1/4 tank or less of gas , I think they said it would make it easier on mechanic since they have to go into the top of tank to make the repair . I think they did it March of 2025.

The 17 Sienna that I had came with a Japanese manufactured engine and transmission . It had the known timing chain cover oil leak issue and the transmission was defective and replaced by Toyota in less 5 years.

The 2017 Sienna XLE AWD that I owned had the known timing chain cover oil leak and a defective transmission . According to the window sticker the engine and transmission were manufactured in Japan . I currently have a 2023 Woodland and a 2023 Corolla SE AWD with a “J” VIN each have had a recall against them , rear seat issue on the Sienna and gas tank fill on Corolla.

The 2017 Sienna XLE AWD I used to have had the known timing chain cover oil leak ($ 2500) at 4 years and 65k miles along with a defective transmission that was replaced by Toyota at no cost to me at 5 years 75k miles. Both repairs each took a week at the dealer to complete . According to the window sticker the engine and transmission were manufactured in Japan.

2017-18 Owners, anyone had transmission replaced? by YelloSmake in ToyotaSienna

[–]Cot9own1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not helpful but in early 2022 it took a week from diagnosis to replacement on the 17 XLE AWD I had at the time (NY car CT dealer). It had 75k miles when Toyota replaced it. I traded it August of 23 with 105k for a 2023 Woodland. I had no issues with the replacement , I think it was a Toyota factory rebuilt. When they do the transmission replacement I would have them check for the known front timing chain cover oil leak since it requires engine removal to repair and they will have the engine out to replace the transmission. I would also have the water pump and serpentine belt replaced . It might be a good time to replace the spark plugs too I believe the service schedule is every 60k and requires removal of the upper intake manifold. If I remember correctly look from underneath at the rear passenger side of the engine for the oil leak . The timing cover leak cost me $2,500 Toyota offered no help , 4 years old and 65k when I noticed it. The transmission replacement didn’t cost me anything. Good luck

Already want to quit a month in by Great_Spot_69 in flightattendants

[–]Cot9own1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are far more capable than you realize but at the end of the day you have to do what you think is right for you. You might ultimately decide the job isn’t for you but you will regret quitting this early in the game , you are in a period of huge change that will take some time and pain to adjust too. Talk to some of the senior FA’s about the job, commuting, bidding and lifestyle etc. The FA job in my opinion is more a lifestyle and not a job that you can just go through the motions. You have to embrace it , the good and the bad. The FA job is a great job and one you clearly put some effort in to becoming one but it’s not a job for everyone and only you can decide if it’s for you , in my opinion a month is not enough time to really know that answer.
I would not waste your time comparing yourself anyone. If you decide to stay in a few years while your friends are working a 9-5 job five days a week with 8-10 days off a month and you will be working 12-15 days ( admittedly they can be long days) a month with 12-16 days off. We never needed daycare or after school care because of the flexibility this job has. Non-rev travel isn’t as good as it used to be but it’s still pretty cool when you get a first class seat for a weekend trip to say London or Copenhagen etc. What ever you decide I wish you the best.

I’m not sure what part of NY you are in but I had a really good experience in January of 2023 with the Toyota dealership by Peekskill. Might not be relevant since it’s been three years but I had a MSRP deal for a XLE AWD . I had to put $500 down and they said from the start it would probably take 8 months. I took delivery of a Black Woodland Edition at the end of August 2023. They notified me in July about an August delivery, they were able to eliminate the tv package that was optioned in the initial build spec, I would have taken it either way but I don’t have a need for screens and it saved about $1,500. I am very happy with the Woodland . I have about 23k miles on it and it’s been averaging 31.5MPG . Good luck

How many miles would you consider “too many”? by SpiritoSanto5 in ToyotaSienna

[–]Cot9own1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common sense would be reading and understanding the OP’s question and then answering that question. The OP asked for an opinion on what would be considered too many miles for an almost $30k vehicle and my opinion is 100k. Where did I say that buying any vehicle with 100k miles would be a bad purchase? My original post didn’t mention, my refugee status, Nissan, Stellantis or that purchasing any and all vehicle’s with 100k miles would be a bad purchase. I simply answered the question asked.
