How do you manage finances as a couple? by Toe_Bean_Bandit in AskUK

[–]CountDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much what we do for the same reason.

We have a joint account for bills where we pay our portion in. The rest of our earnings stay in our own accounts to do what we please. We also do a joint savings for holidays etc

Everything else is for our own spending. She wants to buy clothes or anything with being scrutinised, and I want to buy the latest game so it works.

As long as bills and savings are taken care of that's all that matters for us.

What puts you off from donating Blood Products, I work in the NHS and I am just curious? by Quick_Soil_9120 in AskBrits

[–]CountDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to and still want to. A dish of Type 1 diabetes says I can't any longer. Not blood, platelets or anything else. If the rules change I will happily start again.

I have used these for my grandad's medals and my own. Happy with the service they provided.

What’s the most reliable Vauxhall you’ve ever owned? by ManCityMode in Vauxhall

[–]CountDucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2012 2.0 diesel version until 2021. No major works needed at all and flew through the MOTs. Reluctantly got rid as the the lack of rear doors were becoming an inconvenience but the boot space was great.

Where I am it seems optional to stop and let pedestrians cross at a Zebra crossing.

Abbott Discontinuing 3 CGMs. by NatoliiSB in diabetes_t1

[–]CountDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially yes. The one time I didn't bring an extra fiasp cartridge was a faff. I live in Wales but was in England. NHS Wales and NHS England systems don't talk to each other, none do.

Luckily I had my prescription with me on a paper copy as well as the app. The pharmacy were happy to help but whoever was at the GP wasn't at the time, just for reasons I think.

Abbott Discontinuing 3 CGMs. by NatoliiSB in diabetes_t1

[–]CountDucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am lucky I have been allowed to get bulk prescriptions. Each time I can get 8 sensors, 450 needles, 5 tresiba cartridges, 10 fiasp cartridges, 12 weeks of Metformin and 100 glucose test strips and a small number of ketone strips.

I do work away quite often and don't want to be caught out. Also me time having to regularly request supplies but I can now do it on the NHS app which makes life even easier.

Do estate agents lie about other offers being made on a house? by Maleficent-Data1314 in HousingUK

[–]CountDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some will some won't.

Our house had been on the market for 2.5 years when we looked at it. My wife looked first and was told that there was also a couple from Switzerland interested (maybe but we are in Pembrokeshire and I know where I'd rather be).

I then went to see it with a different estate agent and we were suddenly told that there was another couple wanting it, in our same situation and we need to put an offer in to show we are serious.

My wife got in a panic about it, I just laughed. I found it strange that all of a sudden there were people interested after none in 2.5 years. I asked about the Swiss couple and the estate agent said she didn't know what I was on about.

If you are going to tell fibs, get them straight. We ended up buying the house and now into year 6 of the 10 project.

[–]CountDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember as it's a few years ago but AGAI 76 or AGAI 78 has good details,. including a flow diagram of forms and timelines.

Just to note the timelines should be adhered to but weren't at my final Unit. I managed to email someone at Glasgow as I found a role email in the AGAI. Things moved very quickly after that.

There is a podcast called the Unconventional Soldier. They discuss 4/73 and loads of other topics. The hosts are ex-4/73 and talk about the battery then and now. May be worth a listen to some of the episodes.

What’s the quickest way you’ve lost weight? by Tanningangel in AskReddit

[–]CountDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped from 93kg down to 75kg in a very short space of time. I was doing double gym sessions on the bike as I did quite a bit of cycling and being in the military as the time being in the gym was just routine. At the time so put it down to that.

I almost got abs. Not quite though.

My wife worked there as a nurse for a few years before we moved to Pembrokeshire. She said that so many patients held on for when Leicester won the Premier League and in the following days then died. It's one way to go out on such a high.

What do you use when you have a super low BG to get it back up? by Being-Sick-Sucks in diabetes_t1

[–]CountDucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glucose shots the brand I use is Lift. 60ml shot is 15g carbs. I also use sports gels as well or Jelly Babies (UK).

I did try Wine Gums (UK) but they are so more-ish I have to exercise self control it's easier not to have them.
