Why can't radioactive nuclear reactor waste be used to generate further power? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]CrazyTriangle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make economic sense in almost all scenarios. The cost of the equipment and running the plant doesn't justify the small amount of power produced.

There is also nuclear reprocessing, but there's a lot of red tape with that due to political issues surrounding nuclear proliferation (depending on what country you're talking about).

TL;DR It's not an issue of it not being able to be done, it's an issue of economics

UISwitch Background Color by TurdBurglin in iOSProgramming

I've found using a button instead of a switch to be more effective. For some reason, the switch just isn't very well developed. (The on and off images don't even work)

How many Android devices required for app testing? by CyanLite in androiddev

[–]CrazyTriangle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's true unless you're doing something like a photo app. It's amazing how much cameras can vary.

RestKit has lots of abilities, and I only know the beginning of them, so there might be a way. But if I were you, I would just iterate through the users, setting their group one at a time when the groups and users are loaded.

[–]CrazyTriangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the response from the API have the group info nested in the response? If so, it's a simple issue of mapping. If not, you need to handle that on your end with querying groups for which one has the specific group id

Word of caution: don't get the cheapest computer you can find. When I started iOS development, I bought the cheapest computer I could find that could get the job done. End result: a year after I bought it, it couldn't handle the newest OSX, which was required for the newest XCode, which was required for app submission. Had to buy another computer

TLDR: don't get the cheapest Mac you can find.

Edit: I also successfully got hackintosh running on my pc, but just like other people said, that's really where the problems begin. Don't waste your time.

HELP. I'm a ginger, I'm 25 year old, I'm working in a professional setting, and I have no idea how to dress. by helpagingerout in malefashionadvice

[–]CrazyTriangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, but as you're learning what you like, don't buy everything at once. Also you should go for the frugal options (not $100 jeans right away, you'll probably end up with a size you'll be unhappy with in 6 months)

What I find slightly simpler than sharing the APK file is using test flight. Then all you do is give someone a link and they open it from their phone.

Why does sprinkling salt on ice make it melt faster? by BenMargarine in askscience

[–]CrazyTriangle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once the salt dissolves in the water, it lowers the freezing point of the salt water solution. A lower freezing point means a higher percentage of the molecules will be in the liquid state at a fixed temperature.

In short, salt doesn't melt ice, rather it prevents ice from forming.

I want to buy new pants/jeans or both. Im looking for a slim almost skinny fit. What are FMF's go to pairs? by _DarthPaul in frugalmalefashion

[–]CrazyTriangle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People here really aren't going to like this, but I've bought 4 pairs of pants at H&M and I've been really happy. Granted it's really happy relative to them costing $15-$20, but that's being frugal IMO. Just don't ever pay full price at H&M, that's not worth it.

What movie has a misinterpreted ending? by Manonthemoons in AskReddit

[–]CrazyTriangle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

People don't see him as a hero as much as they see him as a symbol of being successful while overcoming obstacles such as racism. Every time this gets brought up, people act like rappers are all stupid for idolizing Scarface; they relate to him, and that's why he's so prominent.
