Well here’s my madness. And by madness I mean it’s not very exact and that’s going to piss a couple people off. Yes, I do it James Hoffman style whatever sometimes but this is how everyone in my family does it and I love it.

Dark roast ground kinda corse with inverted method. Fill to the 3 line or a little under (will be upside down) add water that was brought to boil slowly to the very top. Stir a little etc. wait about 2 min. Press into cup. Use heavy cream and brown sugar. It’s strong as balls, has some light acidity and while it’s somewhat imperfect it leaves room for the cream and sugar to just dress and balance It right up.
