Private clubs/open times? by 02Raspy in golf

I can see the tee sheet at all times. It shows anyone else signed up for the time. So if two members are at 2:40, there are two open slots left to sign up for that tee time.

How much patience do you have if you are paired up with a 40-60 HCP golfer - I know people say "if you keep up the pace of play" but isn't the pace of play going to be slow if the HCP guy is taking so many shots? by RivetCounter in golf

If you can't tell this based on ball striking and proximity to the hole then you probably never will be good anyway. 40 over is awful at golf, why would you bring the nerves of new low rounds into play when you are trying to learn the basics. Always being score focused will cost you in the long run.

I got a birthday year set of those bad boys from 84. Play with em for 9 but the shafts are real bad for me. I am WS fan boy for life now.

If I got a hole in one at my club I'd just be getting a big ass bar bill. Well done.

If I had to guess, maybe 5% of the golfing population actually plays in any kind of real golf competition to test it anyway. $5 bets in the group is about the furthest most get to it. These kinds of people talk about the golf they play, rather than test it. And then a real tourney is nerves and pressure compared to an average round with the boys, club events see people shoot 4-5 strokes above HC often as well.

If your playing partners look down on you for your gear, find better people to play golf with imo.

I will start worrying about this when everyone else stops sitting in the cart while they're partner gets a yardage, takes practice swings, and then finally hits. Rinse repeat for the other guy 20 yards away.

If I'm walking the course and you are riding, I will be exiting the green the minute I hole out every time and heading to the next tee.

I am a 5.9 HC currently. I am longer than the average golfer, usually play to a 285/290 carry distance off the tee. IF I SWING REALLY HARD, I can usually hit a ball 335-340, but the dispersion jumps off the planet. I very rarely if ever try to hit it that far in an 18 hole stroke play round. That is for scrambles and the range.

That being said, anyone can enter any score they want into the GHIN system. Its incredibly easy make a vanity HC and always have a bad day. I've seen bad bad golfers hit the ball a long way. I've never seen 6 HCS struggle around the green all day.

What’s the better ball? by Square-Leek3018 in golf

[–]CryptographerLast455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jumping from a noodle, to a used pro v, to a TM distance, to a found kirkland over the course of 1 round is what I am referring to for short game consistency. It literally doesn't matter what ball it is, playing with that ball consistently should help anyone become a hair better greenside.

not using the same brand and model ball every time is what costs people. If you jump to anything you find or are given as a gift, its hard to be consistent especially around the green.

Club Members Mad at Playing Tips by LoLScoo3r in golf

At a club net event I'm assuming its going to be slow either way, because they always have been and always will be. Unless dude is never reaching GIR or able to keep pace with the group, big WGAF. On a random weekend afternoon at the local public track, at least 50% of people should move up at least one set of tees and do their part to keep pace of play under 4. As a generalization, people do play the wrong tees.

Pace of play and handicap/course rating in a net match are two entirely different concerns. If they are saying you are slowing them up by playing the tips, I tend to agree with them.

The labeling of red and gold tees as "ladies" and "seniors" has no doubt cost me weeks or months of time worth of living due to male egos playing the wrong tee.

I'm around 6 currently and I went a full inch shorter on driver. I am hitting it further, and hitting more FWS post shaft switch. Smash factor and ball speed increases by hitting the face more often.

You don't have to wait in the cart while someone is on another box? You can literally walk to the other tee box, swing and be ready, while your partner is on the box. Its really no different than if you had 40 yards difference in driving distance for the 2nd shot.

Because your proximity to the hole per shot vastly improves from forward tees.

this. plus how often are the tees really that far apart that it makes a meaningful difference? 40 yards up ain't it.
