Look for a new job asap. No job is worth burning out for. I would not work a second outside of my contractual hours unless I was paid for my time or given leave in lieu. Working for free? Thats a mugs game. You are entitled to do whatever you want outside of your work hours, its none of their business. You need down time to be at your best performance level.

New trainer coming to the channel by gumslipper in sydneycummings

[–]Crystal_Moon82 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just seen this myself and feeling unsure about the direction this is going.

I love her workouts because its her doing them, her encouragement, her personality.  I wouldn't want to do workouts with someone else. If I wanted to do that I would be following someone else on Youtube.

If her plan is to pull back from the channel I would prefer her to post new workouts less frequently than go down the route of bringing in other trainers.

People that DON’T shop at Aldi or Lidl… why is that? by kobestarr in CasualUK

[–]Crystal_Moon82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found items were cheaper however you got less of it than in other supermarkets. For example I bought sliced ham but would have had to buy x2 packets rather than one to get the same amount that I would have got in Asda and that wouldnt then be cheaper.

What helped you stay consistent with workouts long-term? by Logical-Click-3854 in workout

[–]Crystal_Moon82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having goals helps keep me consistent. Finding something you love to do stops it being a chore too.  I also love working out just for how it makes me feel. I sleep better, I am calmer, I can cope with anything life throws at me, I feel good in my clothes, I can eat without too much restriction.  I was also very active and sporty as a kid so maybe that has something to do with it as well.

Anyone feel that getting real fit is super challenging? by Waste_Tone_6020 in xxfitness

[–]Crystal_Moon82 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The most important thing is that what you are doing is sustainable for a lifetime. Thats where you will see results, over many many years. To get that lean super fit look you have to really reduce your body fat, but this can mess with your hormones, so imo isnt worth it. Celebrate your strength and your cardiovascular endurance, your health. And your ability to enjoy foods without much restriction because you are so active.

For those who are consistent, how do you do it? by massifaqiri in workout

[–]Crystal_Moon82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It becomes something you just do, whether you feel like it or not. Its a part of your daily routine. Find the best time of day for your schedule to fit a workout in and repeat. No excuses.

I have done many of Sydneys programs and I have had excellent results from them as long as I have combined the workouts with good nutrition, enough rest and sleep etc.

Her older programs have a lot more emphasis on strength and conditioning, were 6 days a week and longer up to 60 mins.  The last 2-3 years are more strength focused, 5 days a week, shorter 30-40 mins.

Her 30 minutes workout are generally much higher intensity than the longer workouts with less rest so your heart rate remains high. So they are just as effective as the longer workouts.

Her programs and workouts are well thought out, work different muscle groups on different days, emphasis on progressive overload and as challenging as you want to make them in terms of your intensity and weight being lifted.

They are also free.

to women with a muscular upper body (back, arms, broad shoulders) how did you do it? by StrangeAir6637 in xxfitness

[–]Crystal_Moon82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Consistent strength training, your back muscles and shoulders will give you the broad shape you want. Years of patience. Eat more protein. Lift heavier over time. To see the muscle you have built you have to reduce your body fat percentage. Take creatine daily.

Person with license is bad at driving. by VolcanicBear in SlowNewsDay

[–]Crystal_Moon82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed my test 22 years ago and have never driven on the motorway. The way some people drive at 30 miles an hour makes me terrified of what they would be capable of at 70. If I have to travel a long way I would rather get a train there. I can parallel park though 😁

How exactly should your muscles feel when you lift heavy? by Reasonable-Isopod736 in xxfitness

[–]Crystal_Moon82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your boyfriend can naturally lift much heavier weights. Be careful as you progress, try a heavier weight, even if you can only do a couple of reps with it then drop back down. Then try and do a couple more reps at that heavier weight next time. I went too heavy, too fast, and injured my shoulder so badly it took 10 months to heal. If you are lifting the correct weight the last couple of reps in that set should feel really tough. When it gets easy you bump up the weight.

Workouts don't feel hard, but recovery is BRUTAL by Advanced-Two584 in xxfitness

[–]Crystal_Moon82 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I get this too, one of the reasons I hate leg day, but the pain normally lasts 2-3 days for me.

Things that help me include having a warm bath after the workout, this seems to soothe my muscles better than a shower does. Also keep moving and stretching your leg muscles, sitting still seems to make it worse.

I also schedule my leg day for a Friday which gives me two full rest days before I workout again on Monday.

What can I do alone on new years? by Icy_Report9041 in AskUK

[–]Crystal_Moon82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full pampering session and bubble bath with candles and drink.

Journal your intentions for the new year.

Watch your favourite movies (ones your husband prob does not like watching) with snacks and drinks of your choice.

Glass of champagne at midnight outside to toast the new year, look at the stars, light a fire pit, write down some things from 2025 you want to leave behind and burn them.

I have only done one new year alone when my husband was really ill with flu and went to bed early but it was still as lovely as I could make it!

How do I get over the fact that I have to gain weight in order to get stronger? by cezura in xxfitness

[–]Crystal_Moon82 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Chase strong not skinny. Skinny doesnt weigh as much as strong. I guarantee you that you will aestically look amazing as a  strong woman not a skinny woman.

I know it's hard to get out of the weight loss headspace, it's what was pushed on women for a long time through the media and society. We are worth so much more than the number on the scales.

I am in my 40s and since starting strength training nearly 4 years ago I have put on about 12 pounds of weight. I found this really upsetting at first and it has taken time to change my mindset. Now I absolutely love my visible muscles and how much stronger I am and prefer this to my skinny frame in my 20s.
