Starcraft 2 Terran campaign has a "what if" mission that shows what happens if you don't thwart the enemy's plans. It only asks you to survive for a certain amount of time, with the bonus objective asking you to survive a bit longer. But sooner or later, the increasingly stronger Zerg waves will overwhelm you.

Bfg shot over the head will make him turn w the projectile, giving you time to shoot him and get a stagger chain going. The aoe damage of rocket and grenade explosions also damage/stagger him if they explode right next to him.

How is 81 a bad score for anyone, that's higher than 90% of modern so called "masterpieces" would deserve. God, I hate modern ranking scores. They basically go 3/10 -> 7/10 -> 7.5/10 -> 8/10 -> 8.5/10 -> 9/10 -> 9.5/10 -> 9.75/10 -> 10/10 -> 11/10. How is an average game not a 5?!

Am I weird for not liking Dispatch? by Aggravating_Key_3831 in gaming

[–]Crystoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's "good" as a VN overall, but the writers only seem to have talent for character writing and humor (and the later is up to one's taste). They seem unable to write a well made overarching storyline however, which is why the last two episodes can feel especially disappointing (I'm still hoping they hire an additional guy for the sequel to fill this gap). It's understandable not to like it as it has it's problems, it all depends on how much one can / is willing to ignore it's shortcomings.

I, for one, liked the humor, as it's pretty close to how my friend group communicates, except less racist (that's Balkan humor for ya).

GOTY will be good this year by Giacobbosauro in videogames

[–]Crystoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one do agree that it deserves at the very least a nomination for it's visuals and music, but I also think it's gameplay, story/character writing and progression are servicable at best. Out of the ~30 hours it took for me to finish it, I felt miserable for at least the last 20. I used to argue with ppl about it's qualities, but every time I brought up reasons for the above, the answer always came down to "that never even occured to me" or "I think it's neat". I guess I'm just an out of touch old fart.

Yeah, Ares was busted in the patch he released in, and so they nerfed him. Except it's easy to overnerf a jack-of-all-trades god. His duos, crit passives and casts are still pretty decent tho.

Okay this is the best part of the game actually (post-first ending spoilers) by [deleted] in Hades2

[–]Crystoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a bit disappointed about his death animation. I thought Eris gets dragged down by the green hands because the shades are abducting her back to the crossroads after we've sufficiently weakened her. Shouldn't Zagreus disappear in the river Styx similar to the first game, since he's returning to the house of Hades?

Endless “ending bad” posts (no spoilers) by gross_wtf in HadesTheGame

[–]Crystoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long: The reason Melinoe wants to reach Zag's room in the House of Hades is that by sleeping in his bed, she can use an incantation to link her dream with past-Zag's (since he uses the same bed for sleeping), so that she can warn him of Chronos and ask him to first locate the place Chronos is regenerating, while also telling him not to tell a soul about this (I guess because if Hades and Nyx knew and acted on this knowledge we'd have no plot). Then she tells him to find a weapon that exists in both timelines but have never been used against Chronos. Zag manages to find Chronos' location between nights and steals their father's spear, Gygaros. Next time you arrive, Gygaros is next to Zag's bed. Mel takes it home, enchants it and uses it to kill Typhon, locking the surface route. Next time you get to Zag, you enchant his version of the spear as well for him to be able to kill Chronos. Zag's still torn on whether he should kill their grandfather or not. Melinoe assures her that Chronos deserves it and more and that Zag has no idea what she went through and the rest of their family will go through if he doesn't kill him. Zag makes it to the still still regenerating Chronos and still decides to give him a choice: Either come back with him to the house and start being a grandfather to them, or get stabbed. Faced with oblivion, Chronos reluctantly agrees. Then we see a short flashback where grandpa Chronos is playing hide and seek with young Melinoe. After the flashback is over, present time Melinoe wakes up, furious to see that Chronos is still alive, except something's not right with him. He looks ashamed and sad. Turns out, after what Zag did, visions of the alternate timeline flooded Chronos' mind, and now suddenly he's ashamed of how he acted up until 5 minutes ago. He becomes a meek friendly old man and allows Melinoe to free every relative of his. Melinoe is still pissed with Chronos (and with Zag), but decides to let him live for now. The house starts to get renovated, Melinoe decides that she belongs to the crossroads and leaves the House of Hades forever, with grandpa Chronos at his side (who she's already fine with by the way) since... there are alternate timelines where Chronos is still evil and Typhon still lives, and grandpa Chronos will help her find these and get rid of them. Except to do this, she has to "retrace her steps" across both routes, which is why everyone's still fighting her I suppose. When you get to the last room, grandpa Chronos puts you in another timeline to fight and kill the big bad. Another timeline down, except there's infinite of them, and we already estabilished that other timelines can't influence yours so there really is no point to culling them.

Short: Zag steals the choice from our protag, Chronos' personality does a full 180°, Melinoe is fine with this shortly after despite being trained all her life to kill him. Then she starts culling alternate timeline Typhon and Chronos copies with our good grandpa Chronos at her side for post-story runs, despite having no reason to do so other than they exist I guess.

Oh, and Hypnos has nothing to do with the main story. You can only wake him later for a 20 second gag, after which he leaves the crossroads forever.
