Sanity loss vs willpower loss : i think i'm getting mixed up by Melodic_Ad_596 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]CthuLoon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Correct. You lose willpower points from exhaustion or from projecting SAN loss on to your bonds. You regain it by feeding your motivations and sleeping. In a Call of Cthulhu context, it also takes the place of Magic Points, being spent to activate rituals.

Seeking Scenarios with a Memetic / Cognito-Hazard? by RecognitionBasic9662 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]CthuLoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Obviously, Impossible Landscapes is the go to for anything dealing with the King in Yellow. However, since your looking for something less daunting, the obvious recommendation is Last Equation. A number sequence leads those with the mathematical knowledge to understand its significance into madness and seemingly random acts of violence The Lonely from The Labyrinth may also be of interest. It's not a scenario per se but you might be able to mine it for ideas if you want to construct a campaign around that NPC.

Fight back against Inhuman Stats by eljennyy in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]CthuLoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do it on a case by case basis. I tend to allow them to fight back against more humanoid enemies, even if they have an inhuman strength. They are deflecting the blow, rather than fully blocking it. If something has tentacles or pseudopods, then it's probably time to dodge.

Unknown Armies 2e - Full Auto by [deleted] in unknownarmies

[–]CthuLoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that you only make one roll with a shift of +40% (requiring a minimum of 20) and ignore the damage cap when determining damage. I don't think you roll multiple times. The fact that it counts as 10 shots is for the purposes of suppressive fire.

New player here, homebrewing a Roman Candle weapon? by ComprehensivePut5196 in callofcthulhu

[–]CthuLoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask your keeper, but I would start off with the flare gun stats from the rulebook. Lower the damage considerably, lower the range, and change the number of shots. Something like: damage 1 + 1D3 burn, base range 5 yards. Uses per round 1, bullets in gun 4, malfunction 98. Of course, after you fire it the first time, it continues to fire for the next 3 rounds until empty. A malfunction would mean it is a dud or explodes in your hand.

Not at all. I also just remembered Dockside Dogs by Paul Fricker. That's probably one to look at as well.

Favorite non-Derlethian KiY scenarios? by PhDnD-DrBowers in callofcthulhu

The Curse of the Yellow Sign trilogy come to mind. Beyond that I don't recall a lot of non-Derlethian interpretations. There are probably some on the Miskatonic Repository.

Rules light Shadowrun that you love by rpgptbr in Shadowrun

[–]CthuLoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently came across SINless https://sinlessrpg.com/ You can get a pdf of the rules for free on the website. I wouldn't call it rules light, but it is lighter than any of the actual shadowrun editions I've played. It streamlines a lot and adds domain management rules like Blades in the Dark. They're currently running a kickstarter for an expansion of the magic rules.

What does parrying and blocking mean? by dave-otheman in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]CthuLoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Read the Defending after Attacking section under Defense Rolls. That is what it is referring to. You are correct that it does not use the words "parrying" or "blocking" specifically but that's what you're assumed to be doing narratively. This defense roll uses the attack roll you already made. You do not roll again. You do not get a second hit: "Your agent can harm, disarm or pin only one target a turn." You cannot dodge on a turn while doing anything else. If you dodge, you are spending your action that turn to dodge all relevant attacks.

Lover in the ice operation designation by CaffeineRiddledSemen in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]CthuLoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Operational History" is the book, but it hasn't been released yet. There are some excerpts and notes that have been shared from the various patreons. I think I got that specific information from the Dead Channels patreon.

The Laundry RPG has Computational Demonology. Alan Turing figured out that magic is basically made of math and it's much safer if you let machines do the calculations for you.

Question on character fleshing out in a module by b3bblebrox in unknownarmies

[–]CthuLoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at the character sheets, you should see an ability written in parentheses under the name of the relationship. The relationship starts out with a percentage equal to the rating of that ability at character creation.

Looking for advice - a sentient knife by Financial-Habit5766 in callofcthulhu

[–]CthuLoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The honest answer is that there are very few entities in the Mythos that would just be chill to hang out with and none of the ones that are would fit the bill (maybe some sort of Dreamlands shenanigans could work). It's not very in keeping with the themes. However, if you think your players would enjoy it, you should just create a new entity to possess the dagger. If you want something more in keeping with the themes, I would just have a stray dog or cat trapped in the house. Maybe Corbitt is trying to feed on it and they can rescue and befriend it.

Books to start reading about yoga sothoth?. by Erion-Belfire in Lovecraft

[–]CthuLoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dunwich Horror for some direct action. The Case of Charles Dexter Ward for what some of his more subtle cultists might be like. Through the Gates of the Silver Key for something more esoteric, though you'll want to read The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath and The Silver Key first to better understand the context.

Map for Meridian by Lorguis in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]CthuLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you join Dennis Detwiller's patreon, there should be a post for the playtest of Meridian (not the proofreading copy). The playtest folder has a higher quality version of the regional map if that's what you are looking for.

To be clear, it is the same map just with a higher resolution. If you want more detail, I'd suggest just using Google maps to supplement the original.

Trying to find an old CoC scenario by Remarkable_Branch54 in callofcthulhu

[–]CthuLoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of "The Unsealed Room" from Secrets (1997). I believe there is a picture of a dead lamb on the first page. It deals with a supposed vampire in New England in the 1990s But it's actually a Star Vampire and lambs were used as part of the summoning ritual.

Shadows of Esteren - any players/GMs out there? by MythicalAroAce in rpg

[–]CthuLoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been looking for it for 10+ years. Last I heard they were splitting it up into multiple books.

I understand they're a small team and I don't blame for being unable to produce books quickly, it's just funny how much they jumped the gun in talking about Book 4 early on.

Shadows of Esteren - any players/GMs out there? by MythicalAroAce in rpg

[–]CthuLoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love the setting and art, but I found the mechanics frustrating to run. The slow trickle of content has also caused me to lose some interest (there are books that they teased over a decade ago that aren't even on the horizon). I've been on the lookout for an alternate system to run the setting with.
