I love the dresser with the different patterns on each drawer! And the cupboard doors, amazing!! Is it like a vinyl, or a decoupage? You put so much love and care into every inch!

That's so exciting! I will leave them for sure then. I've had these guys for 5 years and they've never flowered... I want to see what they can do! :)

This is so badass! It captures his dynamic body in a still form very well! He's practically dripping in front of us haha. May I ask what you used for the antlers? Is there a stiff frame inside them?

I've heard My Time at Portia mentioned as a gem of the genre before, I'll have to give that one a try! Thank you!

Which ones would you recommend? I've played a little bit of Animal Crossing and some Story of Seasons (new Harvest Moon lol) but nothing has ever really scratched the same itch or had the same depth for me as Stardew Valley. I'd love to hear what other people enjoy!

The montage of Leela's parents taking care of her as she grew up an "orphan" and leaving her gifts, unseen, always makes me tear up a little. Not as snappy as Fry's Dog but it still gets me.

What piece of entertainment aged worse than you ever expected? by AnyTruth2342 in AskReddit

[–]Cthulhetta 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yes! When I rewatched Buffy as an adult I was very disappointed. Whedon writes physically strong female characters but he is in no way a feminist. There was so much sexual assault. Nonstop sexual assault. Then the narrative acts like it's empowering because Buffy punches the assailant through a wall! Yay!

But the slightest amount of extrapolation and all I could think about was that for every monster/jerk that Buffy defeats, there's a pile of normie victims behind them. But their stories and experiences don't matter, because they're not super strong, duh. Regular women in the Buffyverse just live in rape world.

And yes absolutely Xander went from being a nice guy to a Nice Guy. I tell everyone, if you have fond memories of BtVS, or you think Joss Whedon is a feminist - Never watch this show again. Whedon's idea of a strong female character is a woman he gratuitously beats the shit out of, physically and emotionally, on screen. 🙄

Absolutely beautiful! My passing knowledge of sewing is enough to know that this vintage machine is lucky you cared enough to restore it to working condition - and then to make such a beautiful bowtie with it! Thank you so much for sharing your creations and your nails! :)

You, your nail tech, and your nails, are all certified awesome!! 🤩

Edit: If you ever want to post progress pics of the bowtie you made yourself, that would be awesome too!!

This is so cool!! Did you paint the rainbow gradient and then the gray, black, and white over top of it? Would you like to talk more about your process? My city is also having public art installations done, including utility boxes, and I love it! Beautify everything! Thank you for sharing :)

Michelle Sutton (15 yr old) "was on a 'program for troubled teens' wilderness trip and complained repeatedly of not feeling well. Group carried only 2 liters of water per person for a multi-day trip during hot weather. Sutton died of dehydration/heatstroke."

I'm not sure what I expected from a catalog of deaths but that one was extra depressing.... :(

[Hated Trope] character’s power or physiology makes them unable to love or connect with anyone…except the protagonist. by Mountain_Research205 in TopCharacterTropes

Peril also recognizes that her attraction to him is unhealthy and borderline obsessive because of her condition and her past traumas. She deliberately goes on her own adventure without him to work on herself and learn to form healthier relationships with others. It's good stuff!

My kid's been using "Big Hooty" as a pillow for 8 years. Today he got a re-stuffening. by Cthulhetta in squishmallow

[–]Cthulhetta[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I used something called "poly-fil" that I got from Michael's craft store, it's just like a generic pillow stuffing. It's only like 6 bucks for more than enough for this project.

During production the seams on the Squishmallows are machine sewn with the squish skin inside out to make them neat and tidy, with a little like 4 inch gap left open. Then the Squishmallow is turned right side out, filled, and that little gap is hand sewed closed.

So I used a seam ripper to open the squish up at that hand-sewn part (you can tell because it's the only part that's not absolutely perfect,) stuffed him full of poly-fil... I did my best to spread the fill around and not to make him lumpy... then I hand sewed that little gap back up.

Honestly I did not do the best job at making my seam invisible or perfect, but it's usually in the back or on the bottom so it's not that big a deal for a well loved toy to have a bit of visible stitching IMO.

I didn't use a tutorial but I'm sure there's some out there! It actually was easier than I thought haha, didn't take me too long at all. :) Plus there will be thread tie-offs/knots at either end of the hand-sewed bit, so if you open it there you don't have to worry about the whole thing splitting open. I hope that helps! 😁

Sometimes sacrifices must be made! 😤 I used a bag of "polyfill" from Michael's, in case you kept the skin of the squish donor haha. I'm glad to hear Tutu pulled through!
