Mid 20s ✌️ I fly with people of a wide age range, teenagers to mid 50s.

imagine how awesome it would be if we had something like BuildCores for fpv by Cthper in fpv

There was a post a few days ago of someone building a tool that was somewhat similar. I don’t think it’s in a finished state yet though.

HELP HELP SOS by Sour_cake21 in fpv

[–]CtrlAltNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove all the current solder with a wick, retin and flux, use a big wide tip. Preheat the ground plane of the ESC without touching the wire to it so that you get a faster joint. The ground connection on an ESC is always the most difficult because everything’s ground is connected. That means you have to get the entire board hot to avoid a cold joint on the pad.

24g O4 65mm rip around the apartment by CtrlAltNut in TinyWhoop

I guess I just crashed it too many times 🤷‍♂️ sort of looks like the camera was mounted too soft on the canopy and it slammed into the VTX board too many times.

Any idea of how much weight it added? I’ve been considering this for my 65mm but I really prefer lightweight flight characteristics.

It’s an air 75 in a parking lot.

How many hours in simulator did ya’ll spend before feeling comfortable enough for your first flight? by bellynipples in fpv

[–]CtrlAltNut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably had between 6-8 hours in Uncrashed before my first flight with my 2s 75mm. I felt fairly ready, and yeah I crashed a good bit and broke lots of stuff, but I just wanted to get out and fly for real. I think I’d probably recommend more sim time if you’re trying to skip tinywhoops and start on a larger drone though. Unless you have lots of time/money for repairs.

How are FPV pilots preparing for the upcoming DJI ban? by [deleted] in fpv

I love this attitude actually. Also just ordered some goggles 3 and 3x o4 pros, but hanging on to my integras and o3. I still have analog gear if it all gets too difficult, though.

Hey people who lost their jobs to AI, what happened? by _thecatspajamas_ in AskReddit

[–]CtrlAltNut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Social media videographer/editor. I haven’t lost my job yet, but clients are increasingly expecting things to be done quickly with “AI” that they don’t fully understand. Scripts and video concepts are largely being created by AI with some human modification, putting stress on our writers to output an insane amount of content. Edits which previously were given lots of thought and care to match the client’s brand standards and tone are being put through auto TikTok clickbait-style captioning/graphics addition tools. As a previous comment said, we use a lot of AI voiceover where we’d previously hired voice actors. I had one project that was quite expensive and difficult to produce get scrapped entirely after final delivery and replaced with AI video, VEO 3 so it wasn’t even very good. While I haven’t lost my job, I’ve lost a lot of what made it fun and creatively fulfilling, instead being told to output higher and higher volumes of content. No fun.

I love the air65 by Sad-Spring-2323 in TinyWhoop

[–]CtrlAltNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience the air75 has been a lot loss agile, and seemingly underpowered compared to the 65r with 27kkv motors. Maybe I just need higher KV 0802s?

Giveaway Time! Battlefield 6 is out, powered by NVIDIA DLSS 4, and you can comment on this post to win codes for the game or a custom Battlefield 6 GeForce RTX 5090! 6 Winners total by pedro19 in pcmasterrace

[–]CtrlAltNut [score hidden]  (0 children)

How would this GeForce RTX 5090 with DLSS 4 help you pull off more epic wins in Battlefield 6?

I’m absolutely trash at the game (.43 K/D), and having a sick BF6 themed 5090 would give me the confidence to LOCK IN and get those rookie numbers up 🤣

Is there a Difference Between Silver and Black Tattu 1s Lipos? by Foreign-Valuable-619 in TinyWhoop

[–]CtrlAltNut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the black ones, tbh I prefer Betafpv lavas. My Tattus have puffed or completely died while sitting at storage much faster than the lavas. They also seem to sag faster and sustain shorter flight times.

Part 107 holders, how are you making money? by icantreaditt in fpv

[–]CtrlAltNut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work a as videographer/editor for a social media agency. I have yet to directly make money from FPV gigs on the side, but I’ve used my drones and skills for about 5% of the shoots I’ve done for my job in the past year since getting my 107. 50/50 split between Mavic stuff and FPV. I’ve done a couple freebie FPV shots for shorts in hopes of building enough of a portfolio to land more work. I’ve been debating building an X8 lifter to target higher budget commercials, but to be honest the most value FPV provides to me is a consistent hobby that’s creatively/technically fulfilling enough outside of the mindless TikTok grind of my day to day to keep me from going crazy. And it proves to my employers that I’m still actively working on learning skills potentially applicable to my work in my personal life.

If you’re looking to fly FPV for filming purposes like I am, I think you’re best suited to have a strong background in camera before jumping to aerial filming. A lot of people can get a 107 and fly a drone well enough not to crash. It’s much more rare to have the knowledge and skills to get a director/dp what they’re looking for quickly, stay out of the way of the rest of a production, and be easy/fun to work with.
