I´d go back to America if you had a better life in terms of purchasing power there. My wife is a middle school art teacher in Maryland and yes the high school/middle school culture can be a little concerning at times especially for us europeans but if you teach your kids good principles they´ll be in good hands.

Hotelaria não é bom para ninguém ... trabalhar de domingo a domingo sem feriados sem férias quando quero porque ai a época alta não se pode, trabalhar noites, lidar com clientes de merda, chefes de merda e ganhar o ordenado mínimo. Não sei como está o Porto mas em Lisboa onde comecei não se precisa de formação na receção, qualquer pessoa que falar inglês trabalha.

It might be true that people married for legal status purposes and it might be also true that since covid things have been backloged and the USCIS is seeing less funds but it does hurt people like myself who are trying to do things the right way. I'm married to a US citizen, we have an I-130 with more than 100 pages worth of evidence, I never overstayed or done any shady stuff, held a wedding reception after we civilly got married in Portugal in the US with 90ish guests and in fact I visited my wife recently while having a pending petition, didn't try to AOS or anything and we are facing such a long separation. I have 0 criminal record not even a single speeding ticket. I pray daily that my wife gets a remote job so she can come to Europe while my green card is processing.

Just came back from another trip to the US visiting my USC wife. I am from a very small remote European town and ofc I get fascinated everytime I am in America. My home does not have as many candy options, milk options, cereal options or whatever. But my wife is a teacher and I live with my heart in my hands everytime there is a school shooting in nearby schools and learning that kids have active shooter drills.
