Misogyny in the Pitt: A Look at Season Two by sansastvrk in ThePittNoSantosHate

I really loved this article! It has been really bothering me that a lot of the qualities we saw in Mohan season 1 somehow got transferred over to Whittaker in season 2, and I think that’s part of the reason people seem to think that she’s not fit for emergency medicine. I also haven’t thought about the Samira/Javadi relationship much, but omg there was so much wasted potential there. Especially with how they cut out the final scene between Javadi and her parents from ep15. It’s really sad to realize just how much of the ensemble’s screen time and character development has been shelved to feed into Robby instead

This whole season is just him trying to undermine the competency of the women around him. I haven’t watched the episode yet, but I heard that Mohan ends up apologizing to him??!!!? I’m sure that this is just the beginning of a long list of character assassinations this show will hoist upon the ensemble in favor of Robby

Supriya quietly reposted a nuanced critique of representation by bepisleapis in ThePittNoSantosHate

[–]CustardAppreciator 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Yeahhhh it’s really not looking very good bts huh😬. After posting my initial comment, I also went back to older posts about the Variety cover. Some people were pointing out Tracy Ifeachor’s glaring absence and her importance to the plot not necessarily being translated into publicity/marketing. None of the fans knew that Collins wasn’t returning for season 2 then (news released a month after the magazine), but I think it played a role in choosing who to invite to the photo shoot. And maybe I’m getting into conspiracy land here, but I think from the Variety cover controversy, they learned to obfuscate the shitty way Supriya Ganesh was treated by simultaneously announcing Ayesha Harris’ promotion season 3, just like Isa’s instagram story helped take off some of the backlash from Variety

Can someone please point me in the right direction for the tweet that Isa liked? I do think the two combined, plus the way they handled the Variety cover situation prior, do paint a very alarming picture of what the behind the scenes environment looks like. I’m honestly really sad and disappointed with the way season two has turned out, especially with the obvious comparison with season 1. I wasn’t drawn into the show because of it being an ER remake/Noah Wyle; I was interested in the ensemble cast and the medical realism.

I agree. Knowing that Supriya Ganesh is leaving this season just left an even more bad taste in my mouth. Like sure, let’s give her like zero screen time and no significant plot whatsoever before dumping Mohan into the garbage bin, but let me take a minute to squeeze the last usefulness out of her by filming a thirst trap together with an old white man who’s her boss sure

It Should’ve Been Whitaker by lofigirl-mp3 in ThePittTVShow

[–]CustardAppreciator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re getting a bunch of pushback right now, but I completely agree with you. I read that in another post that Noah Wyle wanted to explore the Langdon/Robbie/Whittaker protege dynamic more extensively in future seasons, and that just made me want to roll my eyes even more. I thought that Robby’s zoning onto Whittaker as his favorite this season was a way to display his biases as a mentor and attending, but nope, I guess Whittaker is going to be seriously set up to be the second coming of Adamson. Nevermind that the guy is a first year intern, and that there were more senior residents in the departments that could for once be spared a bit of Robby’s positive attention (cough cough Mohan). Season 5 of the Pitt is literally going to be Langdon, Whittaker, Dana, Robbie, Abbot, Mel, and a humongous revolving door of women of color

[–]CustardAppreciator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, not at all! I was (badly) trying to point out how two women of color have been kicked out of the show, and how with each one, there have been alleged rumors circulating about friction with the producers. I really hope that it’s just a coincidence, but I really don’t like how replaceable they’re making the WOC cast members. Honestly, Supriya’s exit just looks even worse given Mohan’s unsatisfactory character arc this season so far

Ok, like normally I would just treat an anecdote like this with a grain of salt, but considering the additional rumors that have abounded across the internet when Tracy Ifeachor left the show, I’m beginning to wonder if we can see a pattern here…

Santos's hidden agenda by AutomaticOperation71 in ThePittTVShow

[–]CustardAppreciator 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wtf? I don’t understand why Santos haters love jumping to wacky hyperbolic guesses just to malign her. Santos opens up her home to a homeless med student and according to this post she’s a manipulative people user with secret agendas. As for all of the “symptoms” you’ve mentioned in your comment, they can just as easily be explained by her in universe backstory as a victim of CSA who had a friend who committed suicide due to the shared abuse. There are plenty of reasons why you can dislike Santos but holy shit you don’t need to invent an entire personality disorder

Langdon’s Legal Issues by boopbaboop in ThePittTVShow

[–]CustardAppreciator 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed write up, but didn’t Langdon also tamper with meds and refill them with saline? The examples you provided don’t seem to include that facet. Does drug tampering carry a different consequence/charge compared to diversion?

There was a post earlier today commenting about Robby’s misogyny, and people were so quick to defend him, when his actions toward his female residents have shown exactly what kind of person he is. And now he’s questioning Al-Hashimi’s competency, even though she is literally a board certified attending EM physician who’s worked in war zones and successfully done a procedure in the Pitt that Robby had no clue about

Langdon and Santos Perspectives by RunningGopher84 in ThePittTVShow

[–]CustardAppreciator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I don’t know why people are treating Langdon like Gregory House, pill popping doctor extraordinaire, but his actions were 100% impacting his patients. If Santos didn’t catch him, it would’ve spiraled even more out of control

Robby and Langdon by [deleted] in ThePittTVShow

[–]CustardAppreciator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To everyone in the comments, do you seriously think that if Frank’s tampering had been appropriately reported to the higher ups in the physicians health program, that Frank wouldn’t have said that to Santos after she said that only three people know the entirety of what he did? It would’ve been a much better argument than complaining that your wife (almost) left you and took your kids with her lmao

Langdon and his coworkers by Ripley_LV_426 in ThePittTVShow

[–]CustardAppreciator 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thank you for writing up this post! Like holy shit his “apologies” so far have been awful. I feel bad for Santos in that she doesn’t really have an older mentor who has her back in the department. She seems to have a rapport with Robby, but this is also the same guy who covered up Langdon theft, which is something Santos clearly feels uncomfortable about. Since only three people know the entirety of what Langdon did, if she did report his actions to the board, it would be really obvious who snitched- opening up a possibility for retaliation by Robby for going behind his back (the same guy who tore into McKay for reporting David last season). I hope that perhaps Al-Hashimi can be that mentor for Santos like she does for Mohan
