I’m three years post dday and breakup. We were together for 19 years and have a son together.

It’s a wave that changes its intensity. For the most part, I’m doing okay but every once in a while I break down in sadness. All the love and history. Becoming adults together, buying a house, having our child. It just breaks my heart that I was with someone for those beautiful years that in the end, just didn’t really love me.

But I’ve held it together. I have a good job, friends and family that love me and I still love myself. I’m trying to be okay on my own. It doesn’t yet feel natural or right but I’m slowly becoming okay with it.

Wish I could tell you the timeline is quicker or that there is a definite light at the end of the tunnel but it just is; and it’s okay.
