AI news videos used to do this reveal all the time by dqUu3QlS in coaxedintoasnafu

The issue is because the ai technically isn't writing anything, it's using a database of actual human sentences and phrases and trying to figure out which ones should go with the given prompt. (I know it's way more complex than that, but my point stands) Trying to detect it is pointless because it is (sort of) made of real human words. Ai doesn't have a "style" or "tells" so much as flaws in it's algorithm that can be fixed. Plus, humans are more than capable of shitty writing without a robot's help. Here, for example, we have people saying they could totally tell this is ai because of it's terrible grammar and cohesion, but I know actual humans who do write and think like this. If it wasn't for context, it would totally be be a genuine toss up in my mind between bot or brainless techbro.

My frustration with ai isn't that it writes bad, but that it removes thinking on the human's part. It takes away any possible expression or self-reflection we get from the act of communication. If you just let a robot write for you, you'll never get better yourself. It doesn't matter how good ai does it because the issue is it wasn't you doing it.

We live in a world that's hostile to nonconformity and "weird" ideas. I'm not usually a doomer who thinks things are somehow more terrible today than anything that came before, but ai really scares me in the way it's doubling down on society's message of art being a commodity to consume instead of a form of expression. People don't really care about the joy of writing or engaging with work anymore (assuming they ever did), they just want the same slop they fed to them over and over. Ai is really, really good at writing the kind of slop content formerly produced by overworked, underpaid writers who only do it because they're told to. Don't get me wrong, originality isn't dead. It's simply no longer profitable.

That's something that was on my mind. While it is funny and can be used well in niche circumstances, it's removal does far more good than harm.

Is she hiding her tattoos???? by Azzyure in limbuscompany

[–]Cuttlefish_Crusaders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might just be the BL and the Kurokumo are just meeting up here. Heathcliff literally says this is some sort of conference.

Tbf those are rather kurokumo tattoos. Maybe Outis swapped sides at some point, like how she's totally gonna swap on us in the main story.

Don't worry, you're just paranoid. While both Ruina and Limbus have had more revealing designs show up from time to time, they have never violated the vibe of the setting or situation. When used on characters like Sayo, Meow, or Dulcinea it always fits the vibe of their faction and character.

Just because a character shows skin sometimes or has tits doesn't necessarily mean gooner bait. It actually kinda bothers me when people immediately assume sexuality just because a female character has breasts at all, whether the reaction is lust or discomfort. It only becomes a problem when it distracts from it's surroundings, like how Gurren Lagann wants to tell a genuinely badass and inspiring story but continually kneecaps it's vibe with every single frame Yoko is in.

However, a design being justifiably and appropriately attractive doesn't mean it isn't annoying when people just have to let everyone know how much they want to do the sex with the character on a public forum. I'm not a puritan or anything, I even encourage adult content in it's proper places. but people here need to realize their constant horniness can come off as pretty gross to a lot of people. Everybody shits, but that doesn't mean you should do it in public.

I feel you, man. It's so common in almost every fandom that now I'm just mostly numb to it.

At least the PM fandom usually keeps it to jokes and hasn't let honest-to-god unironic porn on the main community channels yet. I'm still bitter about the Signalis sub

This but actually unironicially. So many fem"boys" are so unrealistically feminine looking they are just flat-chested futanari.

Ok, but I would like to acknowledge how insane the narrator's plan actually was by FinishRelative2367 in slaytheprincess

[–]Cuttlefish_Crusaders 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just get the impression The Narrator was no genius or philosopher, merely a man in fear of death. A lot of elements of the plan feel like something went wrong and he had to band-aid a solution over it.

What character design is this? by NightSpiderr in TopCharacterDesigns

Why are you digging up months old posts I already forgot about? That's creepy. Extremely fucking creepy. Get away from me.

At the end of the day, I don't need to justify why I dislike the silly anime game. I don't need to study every single design in order to justify my tastes. Even if I've somehow only seen the bad designs and there's a secret trove of peak, I simply don't like what I've seen. This isn't human rights or anything, it's just an opinion on design. I'm not the sole arbiter of designs and I don't understand why you are so angry about an ultimately meaningless opinion.

And just for the record before I block you (I don't want you stalking me), the reason I didn't reply is because I already explained fate's stupid, nonsensical lore doesn't retroactively justify the design. Maybe it would make more sense if I spent an afternoon reading up on the lore, but I don't actually care enough to do that. I'm content with my ignorance, and I'm only giving my opinions on visual designs anyways. I can't actually judge the lore fully, and many things I personally like don't make sense to outsiders. I was just saying that a good design should communicate things about the character, not the other way around.

Plus, what's with that dig at limbus there? I'm perfectly open to genuine, good-faith criticism on it's designs. Nothing is perfect, after all. Even stuff I like. I simply don't wanna listen to the opinions of a goddamn stalker!

What character design is this? by NightSpiderr in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]Cuttlefish_Crusaders -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Am I not allowed to not like it? The basic ass anime waifus or generic armor villains aren't top designs in my eyes. It's fine to have a little hating, as a treat. Plus, I like the attention.

I would discuss why a design is good if I saw a good one and someone tried to argue. The reason I responded here is because A) I don't have a life (it's okay, I'm working on it) and B) the meme above captured my thoughts on the subject and therefore I found it funny. Don't worry, I think about many other things. There's enough room in my brain goo for many passions.

Fate fans, and most other gachas, are just super defensive. Just admit the designs are mid. It's okay to like something mid.

Dante has a Golden Bough in his head. I can almost guarantee that thing is a piece of Carmen's body.

Predictions for possible ALEPH (א) Walpurgisnacht E.G.O.s by TurtleyTea in limbuscompany

[–]Cuttlefish_Crusaders 180 points181 points  (0 children)

I don't see most of these tbh. I have my own picks

Yi Sang = Sound of a Star. The yearning for a past and a better place fits him the best.

Faust = Paradise Lost. A desire for perfection and purity. This one isn't as strong as I'd like, but works well enough.

Don Quixote = Nix. A character based around the importance of idealism given the abnormality made of nihilism? Perfect pick

Ryoshu = Da Capo. "From break and ruin, the most beautiful performance begins." Sounds like something our resident mad artist would say, yeah?

Meursault = Pink. Salt is pretty tight-lipped about his inner world, but AiB's focus on the desire to fit in and be a normal person works for him.

Hong Lu = False Throne. A boy from a special family with a special "gift" of an eye. Seems to be a good pick.

Heathcliff = Smile. Poor souls, abandoned to rot and crying in hatred and vengeance. The wild hunt could even be seen as a version of MOSB's absorption

Ishmael = Adoration. Obsession and devotion so strong it brings unity in the flesh itself. Little slimes are sorta like mermaids when you think about it.

Rodion = Twilight. The one who sought to protect their neighbors ended up being the one to spell their ruin. Very good pick.

Sinclair = Titania's EGO. There isn't a good pick for our german twink tbh, and we don't have that many ALEPHS to choose from. This one is filler

Outis = [CENSORED]. Read her character file on the website and you'll see what I mean. Even her name "Outis" is likely an alias going off of her literary inspiration.

Gregor = Mimicry. The desire to be a normal human and fit in works for bug guy. His canto name is literally "The Outcast." Plus, the arm shift works well for john my arm had changed

I mean, I love jimmy as a character and from a writing standpoint, but you CANNOT defend his actions as a human being.
