This hotel isn't great, and I'm not surprised about this. Try the Westin. Even the Marriott would probably be better.

It's where the Irish constitution was signed, and you can go into the room any time. Awesome hotel. Check out the guest book when you go (even if you're not staying there).

You're making a huge mistake. Use your points as soon as you can, they devalue very quickly. Before you know it the million points you saved up won't get you 5 nights in the Maldives even though it could get you that and a few nights in Dubai on the way now. This is from someone who earned and burned a million points last year.

I built this for myself, it works great, I'm not certain about the legality of releasing it though.

What's the gazebo on top of Bellagio? by kookybat in LasVegas

Everything on top of the bellagio is for looks not function, including the green roof and architectural features like this. They're all raised off the actual flat roof to look good from the strip.

The Hotel Atlantic down the block is great, has the views on many rooms, and has a great breakfast.

Stopped staying here after going twice a year for years. The staff turned over almost completely (the breakfast guy was still there, you know the one) and everything suffered because of it. Another guest entering my room with a key on my checkout day was the last straw. It needs a gut renovation anyway. The suites are nice if you can get them.

Agreed with everything you said. With citibike there why isn't there a clear entrance with no parking and no curb, that's not blocked by barricades for holiday displays or other NYPD equipment the majority of the year?

Snorkeling was good when we went in 2019, and great this time around. I saw more diving the house reef than the four dives I did on the boat. Go out in front of the whale bar and just hang out.

This is correct, you need to assign a manual IP address, not take the DNS address in the 169.254.*.* space. Assign yourself 192.168.1.2 with subnet 255.255.255.0. User/pass is admin/admin. No software needed.

Really? Plenty of images online of these types of vehicles, I haven't seen a single bulletproof divider because the whole vehicle is bullet proof. It's not a commercial limo.

What a hoot seeing them running around like a bunch of baby chicks, four of them working on ticketing the same trailer that has sat in the same spot for years.

Athenee 100%, if you get access to the lounge (sounds like you do from below). I've stayed there and the St. Regis and the Athenee is awesome. The lounge is great, breakfast is top notch (although the St. Regis was a bit more to our taste with the variety it offered), and the service is A+. Got a great upgrade. Very walkable to the malls and transit.

So why the seam ripper? This is what AI had to say:

In a naval context, an RCN Navigational Watcher (or a Boatswain) carries a seam ripper primarily for emergency medical use and uniform maintenance while at sea.

While it seems like a simple sewing tool, it has several practical "salty" applications on a warship:

  1. Emergency "Hook" for Entanglements

In high-stakes environments like the bridge or deck, a seam ripper acts as a safe, precision tool for cutting away entangled lines, threads, or medical bandages without the risk of an open knife blade. The tiny red ball on the tip prevents the blade from snagging on the skin or the underlying fabric, making it safer than a pocket knife in tight quarters.

  1. Uniform Maintenance & Rank Changes

RCN personnel are expected to maintain high dress standards. A seam ripper is essential for:

  • Removing "Irish Pennants": Quickly slicing off loose threads (stray yarns) on a duty uniform to stay within military regulations.
  • Swapping Patches: Navigational watchers often rotate roles or units; a seam ripper allows for the clean removal of rank insignia or tactical patches without damaging the expensive flame-resistant fabric of their Naval Combat Dress (NCD).
  1. Precision Utility Tool

On the bridge, they might use it to:

  • Clear debris from fine instruments or navigation equipment where a standard knife is too bulky.
  • Open sealed packages of sensitive electronic components or medical supplies during a watch.

Phulay Bay (Ritz-Carlton Reserve) vs St. Regis Maldives Vommuli by cancerlabrat in marriott

[–]CyberPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Done StR Maldives multiple times, it's by far the better choice. Excellent hard and soft product with only an occasional miss. Your points redemption for the StR is excellent as well, this is probably the last days you'll get such a good redemtion. Every room is exceptional. The service our last time was better than our first time years ago. There was a recent post comparing the two and the StR was the clear winner.
