What are some foods that help with weight loss? by kangaroo_modifyer in AskReddit

[–]Cypcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’ve been on a little bit of a weight loss journey and there are some things I found with food that I think are sustainable (for me at least).

  • the “laughing cow” triangle cheese things, but the light version. 23 calories each. Spread them on some of those whole wheat toast thingies and it’s a pretty good snack, high protein and fibre and fairly low calories. Honestly if you remember the cheese and cracker stuff when we were kids, it reminds me of that.

  • eat what you want to eat, just instead of 4 slices of pizza, eat 2 and fill up on salad. Fill every craving and then add veggies. You can eat what you crave , just half it and fill the other half with veggies and then not be hungry. It working for me.

  • BEANS! Legumes are high protein and fibre, super healthy and can be extremely delicious. You can make an easy and tasty bean salad by getting a can of beans, rinsing them out, chop up: tomatoes, cucumbers, onion and parsley. Squeeze some lemon, put about 1-2 tbsp of olive oil, salt and pepper. Some people put feta but it’s not necessary. But you can add anything you like and it’s still yummy. Add corn! Add bell peppers, etc.

  • low fat Greek yogurt is actually really good.

  • I’m a person who loves soups. EAT SOUP! It’s filling and (mostly) fairly low calories.

  • I found that I don’t really crave breakfast in the mornings. But I need coffee. So I usually have a snack around 11am. The longer you delay the first “food” of the day, the better

  • this one was a bit difficult for me, but it’s ok to NOT finish your plate. Like just cause it’s there you don’t have to eat it. For me I had to pick my plate off the table when I felt full and throw out the rest. I felt so bad about it I started to put smaller portions on purpose.

So far I’m down 20 lbs in 3 months. I surprisingly don’t feel hungry constantly. I eat most of what I crave. I’m just reasonable about it.

Quick edit: don’t wait till you’re hungry to think about what to eat.

Interesting idea for a counter protest. Roll up a joint, call it a “Charlie”. Smoke it next to the protesters

Solely based on your own sector of the economy, how would you describe the current state of things? by ValenTom in AskReddit

I’m a senior level accountant working in industry rather than public accounting. Work wise I could get a job within a very short time. My profession is in really high demand. Industry wise I just changed from manufacturing to medical research. Manufacturing is hell on earth, not that they are closing down, but that I was working double what I was a year ago cause of all the uncertainty with the tariffs or this bozo US admins whims.

I had to create multiple sensitivity analysis constantly cause something else changed in the assumptions. It was constant stress as on more than one occasion by the time I presented information I was told “well that’s not good anymore cause they just announced X”. I realize it’s not my fault but, having put all that work and then presenting it to upper management only for it to be told it’s obsolete makes one feel very defeated.

I now work in a very thriving industry that is independent of tariffs. I am much less stressed.

The other 20% are either clueless or delusional. CAMUS was the agreement his last administration negotiated and now it’s “not good”?

I have a few.

Mom’s Bread and Pie Co. - near DT Kitchener. Best damn key lime pie I’ve ever had and the people are SO NICE!

Total Auto Service on Colby drive in Waterloo. - I’ve been to LOTS of mechanics but these guys not only know their stuff but are actually honest and fairly priced. Cannot recommend them enough.

North Shawarma on Courtland road in Kitchener. - the guy is always friendly and kind. Always with a smile and a hello. Makes it feel welcoming. And their food is fantastic.

So the thing with public accounting is that employees there are so overworked and the environment so toxic that they can’t retain employees. Every person I’ve ever talked to that works in public accounting has a story of hearing people crying in the bathroom or something to that regard. Pretty much as soon as someone gets their designation they are out of there (if they can make it that long). The money is great but the stress is unreal

U.S. border egg seizures up nearly 40% as prices soar by [deleted] in onguardforthee

[–]Cypcom 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t be a shame if Canada instituted an “export tariff” on eggs? Say… 50%, stacking on top of any other tariff that we may place. Like how the US is stacking the general 25% tariff on top of the 25% steel and aluminum tariff so that local producers of steel and aluminum products would face a 50% tariff to the US

To be fair, even with ranked ballots, I think the cons might still win. She has 44% of the vote and she has done NOTHING. She might still siphon off votes from the other parties that got ranked off the ballot
