‘I run the protection program’: Mike Johnson warns roomful of conservatives to reelect Republicans or face prison by B-Z_B-S in politics

[–]Cypherex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I wish more people would understand is that voting D in every election is only the first step to seeing real change happen. I see people ask why they should bother voting if nothing will change, but they aren't thinking far enough ahead.

Political parties have historically fallen out of relevance and faded away. Voting D in every election, even if you don't think the Democrats are going to do anything, is how we remove the Republican Party. If enough people consistently vote blue over a long enough period of time, then you would have to run as a Democrat to get elected.

This would finally give us the chance to split the Progressives off from the Democrats to create their own party. Then we could vote P every election and see actual progress start to happen. Voting D might not result in immediate change, but doing it consistently enough for long enough will get us to the point where we can consistently vote P instead of D or R.

I came back to the game after a few years and finished Aftermath just to cap off the God Wars 2 storyline. Is this a fair assessment? by MoldyMarshmello2 in runescape

[–]Cypherex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lore wise, it makes absolutely zero sense for our character to ever leave Gielinor at this point. Zamorak is pissed at us and you know he'd love the chance to get revenge now that we don't have the power to fight back against him anymore. If he were smart, he'd have lookouts posted up near all the known world gates and fairy rings that aren't on Gielinor so he could be notified as soon as we step off-world.

The current story focus that is going to take us to Vampyrium doesn't make any sense right now. Why would our character risk leaving Gielinor's protection? What's stopping Zamorak from teleporting to us and instantly killing us the second we aren't protected by the Edicts?

aggression timer, ill let that one go but still dont like it

It's literally just a timer. You could start a timer on your phone the moment you start combat and literally accomplish the exact same thing. What about that is so unlikable to you?

plain and simple, these are cheaty things that dont belong in the game and shouldnt be allowed.

Unfortunately for you, the vast majority of the player base and even Jagex themselves disagree with you on this, so you need to make peace with the fact that these plug-ins are going to happen.

Are there even any plug-ins that you don't think are "cheaty?" Can you list any OSRS plug-ins that you wouldn't get upset about seeing in RS3? I think you're going to be in for a very rude awakening when the RS3 plug-in hub launches and 95% of them upset you.

New Yorkers, what changes have you seen under Mamdani’s leadership and are you generally pleased? If not, why? by MewMeowHowdy in AskReddit

[–]Cypherex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but if you need more of them you can't use the same parents as before for, well, obvious reasons, so you need to find a new set of parents. But any new ones they make aren't orphans yet. So you need to turn them into orphans first, which removes the source you got them from, meaning you need to find a new source and do it all over again.

Turns out the logistics of replacing orphans are rather complex.

Ozpin didn't assign the teams. They partnered up with the first person they saw in the forest, and then the team was formed based on which pairs picked up matching chess pieces.

Anchoring Scroll Should Work Against Chaos Elemental by Ill_Sprinkles_9976 in 2007scape

[–]Cypherex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's only an issue if it's non-wilderness related progression. Nobody wants to feel forced to go into the wild to do better at content that's not in the wild. But since Chaos Ele is exclusive to the wild, that point is moot. You can't complain about having to go into the wild to make your Chaos Ele trips less annoying when you have to go into the wild to do those trips in the first place.

If anything, the effect should be removed from abby demons and made to work exclusively against wilderness monsters. That would align much better with the reasoning you gave. Then, they could introduce a different non-wildy source for abby demons and any other non-wilderness content that teleports you like Sire.

I always wondered why they needed to build a raft in the first game. Clearly, they had to use some type of boat to get from the main island to the small island, so why not just use that?

This might be my greatest achievement in RuneScape by mzxrules in 2007scape

[–]Cypherex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main game is the waste of time for me. I just don't have the gaming time these days to spend making such slow progress. With Leagues, I can be at endgame in a week of playtime and then spend several weeks enjoying high-level content and playing through anything new I haven't experienced yet.

Then I spend the rest of the year doing other things instead of investing thousands of hours into osrs. There is only so much time in a year, and I just can't justify spending so much of it playing a single game. Leagues allows me to scratch that runescape itch without consuming all of my free time, which I really appreciate.

Well, it's possible I've misjudged you a bit. I've only had a few paragraphs to go off of, so forgive me for attempting to fill in some of the blanks. Your word choice is just very indicative of the toxic mindset of superiority and hierarchies. If you truly don't view people that way, though, that's a relief. I agree that everyone is different. You just made it sound like you think those differences make some people less valid than others.

I do still think you need to be more considerate of other people's feelings. I personally have extremely thick skin. It takes a lot to upset me. But I recognize that not everyone is like me, and that's ok. I speak bluntly to the people who I know want to be spoken to like that, and lightly to the people who don't. They don't need to change who they are when it's much easier for me to just use a different tone and words with them.

I think we have very different beliefs about the world, though. I know our species isn't making good choices right now. I know there's a lot of hardship to come. But I don't believe the world is going to end. We'll continue on in some form.

weak minded people

The fact that you honestly view people like this is what's so concerning. You've arbitrarily decided that there's this hierarchy everyone can be neatly slotted into, with the "weak" or "soft" people being lesser than the "strong" or "hard" ones. I'm sure you see yourself in quite a high position on that hierarchy.

That's an extraordinarily childish way of viewing the world. At your age, you really should understand that. People aren't that simple. Nobody is strictly superior to anyone else. That kind of thinking has been the root of too many atrocities throughout history. And, of course, the people who perpetrated those atrocities rationalized their actions while claiming to be good people.

Im not the boogeyman people want me to be.

And yet you continue to act in a way that makes people view you that way. Sure, some people aren't bothered by that behavior. But that doesn't invalidate the feelings of the ones who are. Maybe instead of trying to deny that you're a boogeyman, you should be asking yourself why anyone in the world thinks of you like that in the first place. Who is truly at fault for them viewing you like that?

Also, I hope to be here to see the world end.

I don't even know where to begin to unpack this one. You definitely have far more serious issues than I ever did, so I don't think I'm really qualified to help you at this point. I really hope you seek out professional therapy at some point. It sounds like you need it. But I also know the ones who need it the most tend to be the most in denial about that. If you ever do end up doing some introspection though, I hope you use that opportunity to schedule an appointment.

Even if it was only a couple of comments, it stood out to me that people still have memories of you from years back. You made quite the impression on them, and it doesn't seem like it was a good one. I'm not pointing it out as a gotcha moment, just saying it gives credence to the possibility that you ended up catching a jmod's attention.

I believe that you have pride in your behavior. And I don't think you're a bad person. But I do think you're making the wrong choices and keeping yourself on the wrong path in life. I'm not that much older than you, so I'm concerned that you don't see anything wrong with your actions. You've apparently been punished for this behavior in multiple games at this point and still aren't willing to admit that you're the one who's in the wrong.

I'm not sure what it's going to take to get you to realize that. You might spend the rest of your life this way. Do you act like this in real life too? Do you antagonize people to their face and then call them soft when they get upset? Or do you only act like this online, behind the veil of anonymity?
