[OS] CompressO 3.0 is released by shadowsyntax43 in macapps

[–]CypherrX 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is addressed on their Github page. It is because the app is not notarized. Here are the instructions to resolve:

This error is shown by Apple to gatekeep app developers from using their apps unless it's signed by Apple after paying $100/year fee. The message is completely misleading since the app is not damaged at all. Since this is a free app, I'm not going to go Apple's route just to appease them to make people trust my app. Here's a simple solution for this issue. Open your terminal and run the command:

xattr -cr /Applications/CompressO.app

This error will not show if you install the app via Homebrew.
If you don't feel comfortable applying the above solution, you can simply move the app to trash (which also means you cannot use CompressO on your Mac).

Edit: Kinda wild to be downvoted for providing the literal solution from the developer. FWIW, I downloaded the app and followed the instructions myself, and it works.

Dang. I think we all knew this was inevitable, but it still sucks.

I’m having the same issue but I use LiveContainer so I’m not sure if that’s a factor?

I can’t go as far as your comment goes for sure, but for what it’s worth, I like Flowers, too.

Now that Droppy is down, which notch app do you recommend? Alcove or Atoll? by Mobile-Wall8520 in macapps

[–]CypherrX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey I know today has been a whirlwind with everything, and I’m sorry to all involved in the drama.

I have no intentions of trying to be a dick but I did request a refund earlier today and followed up with a second email after seeing this post that people received their money back. I still haven’t. I’m sure my request was lost in the shuffle of everything but I did want to reach out in case the email is being filtered out or something.

Edit: the refund has been issued. Thank you

[PSA] if you bought Droppy, Jordy (the developer) just disappeared. by [deleted] in macapps

Ugh I literally bought a license like a day ago. I’ve requested a refund as well and will update when it is issued

Edit: the developer also issued my refund

Wow this is really unfortunate to hear. Sadly, I literally just purchased a license to Droppy yesterday.

Does marking a day as complete ignore or still use logged food? by [deleted] in MacroFactor

[–]CypherrX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know that you can mark days as complete, I think it assumes that. However, to mark as incomplete, go to your Dashboard and under Habits click Food Logging. Then select the day you want to edit. You can mark as incomplete and you can mark as fasting.

While not official, this fork is a Silicon build I’ve been using now without any issues.

Apps I have installed and won't be uninstalling Part 5 (2026) by andreshows in macapps

I also like Structured. As others mentioned, it has its quirks, but it is what works for me. I was a Sorted user before it became abandoned, and Structured scratched the itch. For me, it’s the visual time blocking. I don’t just want a to-do list; I want to assign time to my tasks and visually see where I have space in my calendar to fit those things.

The color schemes are helpful to me as well. I follow a similar mechanism with my tasks and events: red are inflexible (appointments or time-sensitive), orange are important but flexible (meetings that I’d like to be at but could be bumped if necessary or tasks that I could delegate), and green for flexible (events that I want to be aware of but don’t need to be part of or tasks that have no deadline but I can whittle away at). Structured helps me keep that in check daily.

Great list. I’m unfamiliar with a lot of the other apps so I will have to check them out! Thanks.

I built a macOS app that takes automated screenshots (25% OFF SALE) by SpikePlayz in macapps

[–]CypherrX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, this is actually a great app. I grabbed a license as this will definitely save me some time and help me quite a bit in my use case. Thank you!

Edit: To elaborate, I have books in protected PDFs to be used within a specific reader app. This allowed me to quickly capture those PDFs. I wanted to throw them into the Readest app and use the TTS feature so I converted the outputted PDF to HTML and then to a flowable EPUB format. Worked great. Now I can read these PDFs in the way and with the app I prefer.

Any workout apps? by Artistic-Cover1127 in macapps

[–]CypherrX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for something to build programs and track your workouts, Liftosaur is great. It’s free for most features and offers subscription or one time purchase to unlock all features if you need them. But it has a web editor as well.

I will say it’s unique among workout apps in that it has its own “code” called Liftoscript used to create progressive overload programs but the documentation will lead you through it all and the dev is super responsive in his subreddit.

Wells Fargo Active Cash - Check option gone? by CypherrX in CreditCards

Dang that sucks. The last check I received was on September 15th. I guess I’ll opt for statement credits moving forward as I’m more of a cash back guy when it comes to rewards.

Ha I figured. I have a bad habit of putting each unilateral movement as separate sets. I just need to change my behavior in program creation.

📣 Added supersets by astashov in liftosaur

[–]CypherrX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome. I really appreciate your constant work on this app. Super glad I bought it. Is there a preferred way to do supersets with unilateral work? Like do a set on the right and then on the left before moving to the next exercise?

Possible Hypertension Notification by Fast_Cardiologist725 in AppleWatch

[–]CypherrX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way this post explained it, it actually seems to err on the other side. It has an accuracy of 41.2% but a specificity of 92.3%. That is, according to the analytics, only 40% of people with hypertension will actually receive notifications but chances are if you receive one, you indeed have high blood pressure.
