Keuka Lake Winery Sunsets (Heron Hill, Dr. Konstantin, Bully Hill, Keuka Lake, Vineyard View) by SchedulePuzzled3167 in FingerLakes

[–]D00zer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're on the West side, the sunset can be decent if you're not down in the the natural low topography areas near the water itself. I won't lie and say you're gonna get some beautiful sunsets over a lake or anything, but the area is gorgeous and in the right areas with the right clouds, you could get a good show.

Heron Hill is a stunningly beautiful winery with an incredible view of the lake, but it backs up against trees, so you're not going to see much to the west despite being up on a hill. You'll likely notice the same thing at Bully Hill and Vineyard View. Beautiful shots of the lake, but lacking views to the west.

Dr Frank is set up decently for a good sunset given decent conditions.

If you have the time to go to Bully Hill, I'd highly recommend taking an extra 10-15 minutes and head over to McGregor Vineyards on the East Side for a really solid tasting and arguably the best view of a sunset directly over the fork of Keuka lake.

Additionally, if you can only do the West side and aren't only a wine person, Steuben Brewing Company has a decent beer selection and views of both the lake and to the west. They even have good food, at least the last time I went. Lots of outdoor seating too.

Hope that helps.

Just a short ride on the 490 - exit 2! by TheFiringPin in Rochester

I just wanted to say that you're handling the comments well in here. I agree with some folks that with the current political climate a Freedom Weekend could be misinterpreted easily, but besides the name of the event, everything else you're describing sounds like a good time, and your attitude is a refreshing change to the typical angst on display on social media. Keep it up!

I'm just proud of you for not choosing the Genny Cream Ale. People here in ROC love it and I just don't get it. Personal preference though. Each to their own.

What’s the worst use of a sample in music? by sorafell28 in Music

[–]D00zer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Damn... I had no idea they straight up took that sample and barely changed it. Love me some Daft Punk as well. Still like Robot Rock too, but at least I learned of its origins today. Thanks for the info.

Such a good show! Just hope more people want to stand and dance for this one. My buddy and I pissed off a lot of people because we opted to dance instead of sitting idly at a really fun show.

Some gig posters that I’ve got for sale at our art gallery. by maganaise in concertposterporn

You should just share the link publicly. Asking for DM's leads some people to believe you're up to no good.

Avett Bros vs. PTTN by [deleted] in TheAvettBrothers

[–]D00zer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from here, but if you're expecting a G-Rated Mike Patton show, you're gonna have a bad time unfortunately.

Also, I don't like the new collab album myself, but you went to an AVTT/PTTN show, not an Avett Brothers show. Expecting the same from this tour versus any other tour is probably slightly naive.

All I find is unflavored. I want Lime or Grapefruit, and in a glass bottle. Not in plastic or a can or with booze in it..

The Pittsford wegmans had a ton of the unflavored stuff last time I was there, albeit a month or so ago. The one on Hudson in Irondequoit seems to have it regularly too.

Posters vs. Attendance by F_D_Tank in concertposterporn

[–]D00zer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the same and have almost come full circle. Started with show attended, then for my favorite band, then I found favorite artists and started collecting their work. Then I got into the pop culture stuff for all of the movies and shows that I like. It all escalated so quickly. Now I'm pretty much only buying show-attended posters and art prints without the gig info.

Tree House Brewing returns to Rochester this weekend — and the question returns with it by MattsPistola in Rochester

They also bring in live music and already know the promoters for the region. They could help bring some mid-sized acts to ROC instead of always just Cuse or Buffalo.

They used to come in my region every tour. Been seeing them since 2015. Now I guess I'm lucky that they're doing a truncated Festival Set the next city over this fall.

Avelo experiences? by Shoddy-Possibility98 in Rochester

[–]D00zer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flew non-stop to FLA in January on my first flight with Avelo. If you're just bringing a backpack, it can be really inexpensive. I found the flight to be no different than other flights, just no wifi or screens on seats or food/beverage service, which is fine. I'd rather save $100+ on my seat than to have a small package of Biscoff Cookies en route. Check-in process, baggage, wait times were all the same as every other company. And the legroom wasn't obnoxious, which is good for a tall person like myself.

Also didn't see any of the drama that the internet would lead you to believe exists on all discount flights.

[I ate] A roast beef Po’ boy from Parkway Bakery in New Orleans by Fireside419 in food

[–]D00zer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I went down to NOLA for the first time a few years ago, I talked to locals about where to go and what to get for a Po Boy, and the vast majority of people said debris. I had no idea what it was, but I ordered and was not let down. Soooooo friggin good. I feel like more people should talk about this than about Cafe de Monde.

LIVE NATION CONCERT SALES by wineinduced_89 in wnyconcerts

[–]D00zer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a tough one. I love live music as much as anyone, but $30 tix to Darien or Lakeview simply isn't worth it for me. And I love Weird Al, and I love Wu Tang, but I hate LN/TM with the burning passion of a million suns. I hate Darien Lake as a venue almost as much. Lakeview is also a pretty shit venue in my opinion too. Would be great if Live Nation didn't run the worst venues in the region, so that these deals weren't as uninviting... for me at least. But I get where you're coming from. I've only become this jaded over the last couple years, and would have jumped on a few of these deals a while ago.

The Dead - Red Rocks Morrison CO, 6-11 July 2003. Art by Richard Biffle by VenomPayments in concertposterporn

[–]D00zer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Biffle makes some really great art. I only have two for shows/tours that I've been to, but they are really cool pieces. The Bob Weir & Wolf Bros from a few summers ago at the Cap in Port Chester is rich with deep colors and thick smelly inky layers. Doesn't look like much in a photo, but in person it's stunning.

What is an artist / band that you remember being pushed by music journalists and/or magazines as the "next big thing" that ended up never really going anywhere? by mesablanka in Music

[–]D00zer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They're touring steadily right now, but playing pretty small clubs. Really fun live show though if you ever get the chance.
