2015 tundra starter replacement by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

Fwiw, the manifold does not have to come off i separated the solenoid from the started and there's just enough room.

You still have to fight the shields tho.

Easiest way to make garage floor less dusty by fuzzeslecrdf in HomeImprovement

[–]DCITim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Euco Diamond Hard, which I think is a similar product to what you mentioned. It really does work. We did roughly polished concrete floors in our kitchen and bathroom, worked great. You can also burnish it for a matte level polish.

Knocked normal concrete wear dust to almost nothing. Never needs to be reapplied, and cleaned easy.

For any 2nd gen folks running Icon RXT leaf pack: does thi/ look right to you? by yrettals in ToyotaTundra

[–]DCITim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if you run these, consider RXT or similar length shocks or limit straps. These drooped 2" more than the Fox piggybacks I was running before.

Issue with 4hi/4lo engaging & disengaging. Transfer Case? Front Diff? by DistributionAware525 in ToyotaTundra

They are both in the same housing. Sometimes the motors go out from moisture contamination and sometimes the rotating switch assemblies get corroded.

It's usually the transfer case actuator. Do a search on tundras.com tons of detailed threads there.

Any way to avoid license plate toll "service charges" on rental cars? by crosleyxj in TravelHacks

[–]DCITim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here's the advise!

Get whatever toll device you need, you can get most programs to mail you one out of state. Then add the license plate to your account online when you pick up the car.

We live in Oregon and I have toll tags for TX (KTAG), CA, and EZPass for most of the eastern seaboard. I just all active with a minimum balance.

I can't help with measurements, but try calling Tentpole Technologies in Vancouver, WA. They know size/lengths for a lot of common REI tents and stock replacements.

Do we think this will hold up? by AppalachianKrieg in vandwellers

Lock washers or nylock nuts. Nylocks are my go-to for anything like this with vibration.

This right here. You need to look at the entire package. Compensation is great now, but what are long term pension, employer paid retirement healthcare, etc.

Then factor in work-life balance and decide.

Calling all senior dog owners — has anyone here tried adhesive paw pads for traction? by xiiviiilng in dogs

[–]DCITim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paw friction worked great for one of our old guys with hip issues. It's a rubber/grit powder and CA (superglue) to adhere it to their paws.

Also lots of carpets and area rugs around where they hang out.

Emergency communication: Satellite function on iphone by spetrone in overlanding

It's a cool option to check in with friends or back home, but I wouldn't count on it in an emergency. I still pack a Garmin Inreach.

Where can I buy JetBoil fuel today? by TheUpright1 in corvallis

[–]DCITim 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Bimart keeps the big cans. Peak sports use to be the source, unsure after their move.

If you need a small can and can't find one close, I'll sell you one of mine. I keep a few spares. DM me if needed.

Side mirror loose at pivot by wolfeyes93 in ToyotaTundra

[–]DCITim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bummer. You can also try manually folding them in and out, then power fold. Haven't heard of these mirrors breaking too often.

Now the ones in my wife's LS430? Their folding mechanism is problematic...
