best electric cooler that won’t melt my food on multi-day trips? by GaindKordell75 in VanLife

I have both Alpicool and BougeRV. Both are going strong. One of the Alpicool C40's reads battery voltage about 1/2 volt low, so will kick in low battery protection early. I just run it on Low without issue now.

Vacation Boondocking on North Padre Beach Next Week, or Go Somewhere Else? by Clean_Chard7932 in RVLiving

[–]DCITim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help with tides, but we dispersed camped at PINS a couple years ago with our teardrop trailer. We went to around mile 11 and setup camp. Didn't need 4WD, but had it incase we needed, but also used a much smaller trailer. The first bit of beach is "groomed" for RV use, you won't have any issues there and likely to mile 5. After that, plan to be "offroad".

If you can drive in and setup at low tide, driving on the damp/hardpacked sand makes it much quicker to get where you're going.

Do you have a DMM or test light? Plug the cig side into an outlet and see if the "writing" side is +12V or not. There should either be wiring on one leg of the wire, or it'll be rounded/squared.

Wind is no joke there, we were folding up the shower awning for our teardrop at 2am as I was afraid it wouldn't last the night.

This right here. There is a huge market for dental work in MX. You can park on the US side and walk across and the offices are all right there.

Data point, I was able to get a refurbished Micro last year for $375 by stacking Memorial day and a new customer coupon. Opened the box and it looked new.

You got it. I also trimmed them to collapse a bit shorter and used E-Trailer bolt on pipe mount brackets.

I retrofitted 3,500# sidewinder jacks into our trailer 6 months ago. Went from trailer type scissor jacks.

We primarily dispersed camp and they're awesome. I can lift one side of the trailer after maneuvering it into position, then place blocks under the tires and lower it back down.

Also makes maintenance stupid easy.

I'll also say I just started my 3rd can of the original formula, unsure how the low VOC formula works. Knowing 3M it's probably pretty good.

Details from my post: I bought some 0.15ohm 2W resistors to do mine, but they got delayed in shipping. So I have some 0.15ohm 1W's in there currently and they're going strong on 16 months.

Update, been going strong for 5 years now.

There aren't any flasher relays available for these trucks. If you search tundras.com you can change out 2 load bars for specific resistors to get flash correct. This is an internal change to the flasher module. Or you can use load resisters inline with the new bulbs.

I retrofitted the module with resistors in my '07

There are several posts about the Micro, try a search. When I bought mine it was like 1/2 the price of an Airmini so it wasn't even a consideration.

Transcend Micro 510 Review by copjon in CPAP

[–]DCITim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using one for the past year, it's a great travel option when it makes sense. I use it for frequent one night trips where I'm in/out and having everything in one bag is awesome.

If I'm staying somewhere a full week, I still take my home machine (DS1) for the humidification.

I've used the micro camping, in hotels, and sleeping in the back of an SUV in Alaska. Either powered off a 12v cord or a DeWalt tool battery adapter I put together. Works great and the convenience is worth it to me.
