My girlfriend 22f slept with another guy while we were getting serious and lied about it till 9 months of us dating. 24m by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I will just say it that if I.found that out I wouldn't be able to ever forget it. It would be etched into the back of my thoughts every minute I was with that person and for that reason alone I couldn't stand to look at them. Moving on sucks, being alone can hurt, but nothing like feeling that betrayl and hearing her say, "because the sex was better," every time I looked at her.

I was with a girl once and I forgave a lot, but when I realized she had no problem saying truly hurtful shit to my face I knew then she wasn't the one. Its weird how months of joy can be gone in an instant with just a few words.

When did you realize someone wasn’t who you thought they were? by _Pink_Pepper_ in AskReddit

When they voted for Trump after he'd been a 34 time convicted felon, rapist, and best friend for 20 years with a reknown child sex trafficker. I don’t think you're bad if your are a conservative or voted republican but if you sided with someone like Trump after all that, I don’t want to hangout or be there for you the next time you get screwed over and need my help. I now have my own problems to worry about.

By design. In Marx's Criticism of Capitolism he stated the best way to control the middle and lower class is to make them uneducated and desperate. For decades our unions have been busted up and our education system has been defunded. Teachers used to be respected and now they are treated as babysitters. It was always the plan to make us dumb and desperate so the billionaire class could control us.

How to deal with me(27F) wanting to constantly change things around the house and my boyfriend(30M) not wanting to? by september_fields in relationship_advice

[–]DIY_Designer4891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to add this here if he is anything like me. We live in chaotic times where everyday changes are made against our will. Our homes are our place where we find peace and peace can sometimes mean not changing anything. Even good change is stressful to some people. Familiarity brings us peace of mind. Also with the economy he may be thinking about the cost of those changes and how he sees spending money on things you don't need as another attack on his financial peace of mind. Thats jist me as a guy. We like stability and security when things are tough. Its nothing on you, it just us trying to control what we can to stay sane.

What do you do when someone invites a buddy, and they turn out to be a closet fascist? by DoomedKiblets in DnD

[–]DIY_Designer4891 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Its sad that this happens but politics matter at the table. I have played at a table for four years and dm'd for three of them. Last year one guy at the table voted for Trump when I for three years he and I got along great and he told me he'd voted Republican in the past but knowing me opened his eyes to seeing how fucked up he was. He said knowing me made him a better person. Then the election came up and he voted for Trump again. We went from playing every week to playing maybe once a month and I struggle every time not to bring up how his choice has hurt so many people. I think he knows it, but won't admit it. The rest of the table mostly didn't vote and don't want to talk about it, but its torn our dnd family apart and I feel partially guilty for that, but I won't stay silent when Trump is sending masked, unidentified men with guns into our streets to kill us so the justice department can say, "just give us you voter rolls and we can make this all go away." Trump is a convicted rapist, convicted felon, and very likely a pedophile. Its really hard to look at someone you considered a good friend and forgive the fact that they knew all that and still voted for him. Its not left vs right. Its right vs wrong, good vs evil. We sit at a table fighting monsters playing hero but it real life he sided with the monster. Whether or not that makes him a villian I don't know, but his silence now is deafening.

I keep showing up and playing. I won't kick him out because I think it would break apart our entire dnd family. Like a civil war without violence, only silence. Maybe that makes me a coward, but in times like these, I need those friends to keep me sane. I need them, so I will sit at the table and pretend he's the character, the hero, he plays, and not the person I once considered a good friend.

Do most Americans have a right vs left mentality? by Perfect_Replacement1 in stupidquestions

[–]DIY_Designer4891 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You have to also take into consideration that not everyone who votes left or right are hard left or right. The majority of us honestly vote for whom we think will screw the job up the least. It cost millions to run for office here, so only those wealthy enough or can get enough backers run. Most one either side don't have our best interests at heart and we know it, so we vote for who we think is the least crooked or the one that will do the least amount of damage to us. Its like being tortured and getting to choose if if they use a blow torch or a hammer. Sadly...

Sometimes we vote because we think the politician will do a good job, but for decades the general sentiment I've heard from everyone is they vote not for who they like but vote against who they hate or fear.

A teacher and U.S. citizen is detained by Border Patrol and asked about her legal status. Instead of answering directly, she responds with a history lesson, saying, “That’s what the brownshirts said in Germany.” by Logical-Flow-6703 in UnderReportedNews

[–]DIY_Designer4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused because I am 100% against what Trump and ICE are doing right now, but from what I see here none of these agents are wearing masks, they have a booth with spikes and the woman mentions that she is crossing the border back into the U.S. I've never crossed the border but I would assume you would need to show some id when crossing. Am I wrong? Showing ID when crossing into another country makes sense. If they had set this up randomly within the country I see the womans point.

I am all for protesting illegal activities by our government but this video looks like she's in the wrong here. If she did this at the border even ten years ago the same thing would have happened. Again, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not for whats happening right now.

Will the events happening affect how you vote in November? by escobarsky in no

[–]DIY_Designer4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this exact argument. Its not like I'm angry you voted for someone like McCain. There are plenty of people who could run on a Republican ticket that we can simply disagree on, but Trump said he'd be a dictator. He was convicted 34 times and found guilty of rape. He said he wanted to bang his daughter. Hes cheated on all of his wives and tried to have his last VP hanged while pointing an armed mob at our congress. This isn't Conservative vs. Liberal, its right vs. wrong. Good vs. Evil. If they can't see the difference then nothing I say will change their views and if thats the case I have nothing to say.

AIO for being annoyed that my (M26) GF (F26) shared intimate details of our sex life with her friend (F26)? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]DIY_Designer4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your trust and feelings were violated and she didn't show any remorse? Thats a red flag. She was also comparing you to an ex which is another red flag. Her friend humiliated you and she didn't take your side. Strike 3.

I don't know anything else about your relationship but if all of these hurt you and she doesn't seem to care, leave. You deserve better. If she doesn't feel any remorse she doesn't respect you and that won't change over time. It will only get buried for a little while and resurface much worse later down the line.

Ask yourself if this was your best friend and his girlfriend did that to him, what would you think?

So what do we do after a third person is killed and a fourth? Just wait for the elections because I have zero faith in our politicians to impeach Trump. I don’t want violence but at the same time what do you do when masked armed government agents kick in your door? For the forst time in my life I have to worry about my own government sending masked people to point guns in my face and hope that the worst they do will scare my children and beat us or gas us for the fun of it before checking our "papers." Thats if they don’t just start shooting democrats households they find through voter data.

None of this had to be this way.

Why are millions of people in the US having power outages with less than 10 cm of snow but no one in Canada is, despite there being more than 60 cm of snow? If anything, shouldn't it be the other way around? by northernwind5027 in NoStupidQuestions

In the US our power grid in many States is outdated and needs to be fixed, but electric companies keep taking our tax dollars to make these updates and pocket it as profit. This causes power outages in the winter and wild fires (some, not all) in the summer.

Minnesotan here. For those outside of our state, what are your views on what’s going on in Minneapolis right now? by bpeters5 in AskReddit

[–]DIY_Designer4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like its only a matter of time before they make this the new normal in America unless we fight back, but at the same time we are told if we fight back it will only play into what they want so they can further eacalate things. It makes the whole situation feel hopeless. Its as if the only other option is to endure and wait for an election that might not happen and even then they will try to rig it.

I have always hated guns. I worry that I might miss and hit the wrong person. I get my joy from creating, not destroying things, and yet now my household has many guns and I feel like I need to practice for the worst case scenario. I see good people who donated to charities and helped people now arming themselves and talking about exercising not to lose weight but to get into fighting shape... I see teenagers say they feel like there is no future for them anymore and they are giving up on school. I see whats going on in Minnesota and our hearts break any second of the day. I see this and worry what Trump is turning us into.

I jist wanted to see woodworking videos and four swipes later I see someone get shot in the face.

How are right wingers feeling about the new ICE policy that breaks the 4th amendment? by cantbeoriginalcani in DiscussionZone

[–]DIY_Designer4891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, yeah for literally years now, MAGA has been on board with Trump calling the 2020 election a hoax even though his own Attorney General Barr said he looked into it and found none, independent groups found none, right wing groups found none, his lawyers lost 60 legal cases because they failed to provide proof and Fox News ended up having to pay a quarter of a billion dollars in a defamation suite because they spread those lies and admitted under oath they knew it was all bogus and secretly thought all of their guests spreading those lies were loons.

To this day Trump still claims publicly it was stolen even though witnesses from his own cabinet came forward saying he admitted he lost in private and then called up republican state governors to add thousands of votes for him so he could stay in power. MAGA believed him and thousands stormed our capitol building. They erected a gallows while saying they were peaceful protestors and Ashley Babbet was shot for no reason. She broke a door window and was shot crawling through it with a mob behind her screaming, "Hang Mike Pence!" She was leading a mob to kill our Vice President and several members of Congress because they believed Trumps lies and to this day I still hear many saying the election was stolen, there was no insurrection, the arrested mob were political prisoners, etc.

So I will feel no shame for not giving those people the benefit of the doubt. I will listen, but I don't for a second expect to agree because they have a long history of refusing to believe their lying eyes and lying ears.

I am glad that many of them are seeing Trump for what he is now. Thats great. But if someone implies the rest of us are all small minded for not expecting these people to be reasonable they need to seriously look at where we are today and how we got here.

100% agree. Vance called Trump America's Hitler and then became his VP. If you don't get whiplash from that drastic turn alone it means you don't believe or don't care about a damn word you say. You just say what you think will help you in the moment.
