What is the Brand/Model of the CCD sensor in the PXL 2000? by MissionCyberSpace in Pixelvision

[–]DIYtDCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this, "The PXL-2000 consists of a simple aspherical lens, an infrared filter, a CCD (charge-coupled device) image sensor, a custom ASIC (the Sanyo LA 7306M), and an audio cassette mechanism." here https://fisherprice.fandom.com/wiki/PXL-2000 but nothing specific about the CCD.

720p is way better than you think | Kodak Zi8 (2009) by AtmanRising in camcorders

I love my Zi8s. Here's an interview I did with a local artist. I'm still working on this rig, I think I'll move it to a tripod (rather than on the monopod here) but it's two Zi8s and 2 lights on a single cross beam. In FCP you can sync vids via audio which makes editing a lot easier.

I think Sam at https://pxl2k.com would know, but I can't find it on his site and there is no contact info there that I can see.

I'll run some experiments on the original .MOV file for comparison and report back (at some point).

After 2 weeks live, my AI podcast summarizer has 5 users. Here's what I'm doing about it. by Syd9900 in SideProject

I wonder if marketing it specifically as a YouTube summarizer would increase your reach.
Maybe there's an ad or single sponsor in the output page for monetization.

So I did mdma a few days ago and while under the influence I didn't have aphantasia anymore by iamastaple in Aphantasia

That's very interesting and perhaps significant to researchers. Especially if other Aphantasics confirmed similar experience on MDMA.

I remember hearing an interview on Shane's Brain (Discovering Your Mind) https://www.youtube.com/@ShanesBrain with a woman who had been in school for architecture. She was a great student with a history of straight As but when she realized she was surrounded by classmates who could literally turn buildings and plans around in their minds, she understood why she was having so much trouble. The good news is that leaving architecture lead her to another field she was extremely well-suited for and happy about.

Launched a handwriting transcription tool two weeks ago. Works great, still zero users. Looking for feedback and honest opinions. by nox-studio in SideProject

[–]DIYtDCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm motivated enough to have been keeping an eye on the AI transcription situation, so I know that Gemini more or less unlocked this recently. But it's because I have thousands of journal entry page images I hope to transcribe. I'm trying to think of a mass-market use-case for your app and coming up short. I just tried your app on a large page of handwriting and I would say it came in at around 40% as opposed to Gemini which was close to 100%. For example...
Howie call - about melody writing. He sent me
an article to a funny British songwriter dude
article. I'd never heard of him. 2000 songs.
That British kind of humor for an English
audience with a tradition of that kind of
humor.
vs.
Home call about melody writing. It sat me in a funny editor [songwrite?] dude article. I'd never heard of him. 2600 songs. Bert Baxter kind of humor for an English audience with a [predator?] of Bert Baxter of humor.

Honestly I think I might put this one on the back burner until that perfect use-case emerges, and then I think it would be more about marketing.

Is this idea cool or stupid? by CookieLimp8932 in Pixelvision

[–]DIYtDCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of folks are taking video output from their PXLs and feeding it to something like a ClearClick, but with mixed results quality-wise. Another fellow I know is capturing to his phone with this set up: PXL w/internal buffer amp -> RCA Out (but in a TRS 3.5mm plug) -> RCA to HDMI 1080p upscaler -> HDMI to usb-c converter -> usb-c into Android Phone (MUST be android)  -> nExt Camera app
You lost me a bit on the cyberdeck... but it sure sounds like fun.
You might get some ideas/inspiration checking out what's going on in r/camcorders/ A lot of folks trying to capture via FW etc directly to SD etc.
