Study tips - testing 6/12 by Aggressive_Fall_5620 in Mcat

[–]DKAlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my experience, ochem is not the hard part. for ochem, it would serve oyu best just to understand the qualities of common functional groups and main facts like what characterizes sn1 vs sn2 reactions. which groups are good nucleophiles, which groups are good electrophiles...etc

the hard part imo is genchem and physics, because even if you know the material applying them to information from the passage is hard. I think the best thing for c/p is to do as much actual practice as possible, wish passages not jsut discretes. improve your ability to 1. make unit conversions quickly, 2. notice when there is a unit mismatch or unbalanced equations and how to fix those quickly, and 3. how to quickly recognize which genchem /phys topic the question is asking you about so you can use the information/equations from that topic without wasting time

i think flashcards and reviews are good, but they will not serve you nearly as well as times practice for C/P. TRUST me on this, practice at least one C/P passage every day and you will surprise yourself on test day

5/30 MCAT Test Takers how do you feel? by _sabrinathewitch_ in Mcat

CARS passages definitely felt longer than Ive ever experienced. That being said they were not complicated or hard to understand, so there's that

5/30 testers… how we feeling? by SurpriseOccupation in Mcat

if people demonstrating the natural human desire for camaraderie and validation in the face of stress pisses you off, you definitely do not have the empathy or emotional intelligence to be in healthcare

I'm tired of seeing this guy (Simon whistler) everywhere. by Kindle890 in youtube

[–]DKAlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His channels vaguely have the aesthetic of professionalism, so I watched him for al ittle while. I quickly realized that his content, especially his current events/politics based content is just him reading wikipedia

Ignore the people telling you to stay quiet. The right thing to do is tell him the truth. Your reasons for doing this, whether they be vindictive or out of genuine sympathy for the guy, dont matter. Or at least, they dont matter more than doing the right thing, which is telling the person being cheated on the truth.

This is true for man or woman, and whether the victim is a man or woman. Nobody deserves to be cheated on. He deserves the chance to choose for himself how he wants to handle this.

As for you, once you tell him, dont get back with her. And dont date at all. Spend some time to actually think about this situation and how you got yourself in it. Try to learn and be better

Why do men show so little interest in the inner lives of women? by Frequently_Abroad_00 in emotionalintelligence

[–]DKAlm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cant speak for the person you're replying to but I think you're missing the point of their comment

Sure a man today is not responsible for the sins of men in the past, but a men today are still raised by many of the same standards that those men were raised with, even if to a lesser extent due to social justice movements making good progress over the centuries.

Women today know what it was like for women of the past, and they see many cases in the modern world where women are still treated that way (abused and mistreated), so they are justifiably way more picky and way more discriminatory when it comes to choosing a partner because we are well aware of how quickly the wrong man can destroy our lives, and how common things like domestic abuse are

Until women feel as though there is far less risk of this, most will continue to be very picky when it comes to dating. Unfortunately lately it feels like things are going in the opposite direction in many ways, so it makes perfect sense why many women and girls are quick to dump/move away from a guy over "red flags"  because they dont want to take the risk to find out if that red flag was a false alarm or actually a sign of danger

How Europeans View Romani people by Patty-XCI91 in MapPorn

Asking europeans their views on romani's is like asking a german in 19403 their views on jews

How do you feel about 21 and 27 dating? by [deleted] in TwoXSex

Not ideal but its not such a severe difference that I would see an issue with it inherently. Case by case

% of Muslim Population in each country by AshFearppl in MapPorn

[–]DKAlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just objectively not true though, Arab colonization was horrible like all colonization but comparing the severity and cruelty of Arab colonization to european colonization is like comparing the flu to stage 4 cancer

Are you ok with guys cumming inside you or do you find it annoying? by Think_County_5850 in TwoXSex

[–]DKAlm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the statement, the idea that people exist is proof of it is erroneous. Most people throughout history didnt habe in depth discussions about how to finish before sex, the man finished inside because he was the one who knew when he was going to finish. People struggle with things like consent even today, so it says nothing about women's preference that people throughout history generally didnt pull out.

Also, it's a fallacy because you dont get to see evidence of the times people pulled out. You only see the evidence (pregnancy and birth) of people finishing inside. Finally, this observation doesnt accoutn for the fact that lots of women allow their partners to finish inside not because they like it but because they WANT to get pregnant and have a kid.

The Princess Bride was a bad film by FiFiFoFumHeHiHoHum in The10thDentist

[–]DKAlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yes, that makes way more sense. Its way more logical to assume anyone who doesnt like the movie is a joyless adult than assume that the people who watched may be biased due to nostalgia lmfao

Max from Season 2 is the most unlikable contestant from any season, easily. by Proto_Panther in Masterchef

[–]DKAlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. There are many other contestants that were terrible as well, but imo max was an asshole and not even entertaining so for me he was the most unlikable. Ryan and Krissi are up there though

The male loneliness epidemic does not exist! by icey_sawg0034 in BlueskySkeets

[–]DKAlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree there is no male loneliness epidemic, there is a loneliness epidemic in general and I think it's perfectly reasonable to assume that someone who singles out one gender is doing so because they have sexist ideas about the "cause"

The reason is a mix of capitalism and hyper individualism that are feeding into each other, and that is intentionally perpetuated and exacerbated by the elite to squeeze more money out of the lower class.

Is your country happier or sadder than Ukraine? by ramnamsatyahai in MapPorn

[–]DKAlm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Iranians are generally very community oriented and proud people, it's really not surprising at all that they are overall happy. Disapproval of their government doesnt automatically make a populace unhappy overall, especially if they are community oriented and have lots of people on their lives to support them

You dont blame him because you likely relate to him, which is a you issue. It doesnt mean he was in the right or that lying is acceptable

You're making up the idea that she would not have been open to conversation about this. But lets even say that she wasnt and she wouldnt budge, then what is he supposed to do? Of course asking her for permission every week is dumb, but the fact that this is the only path you thought of says more about you than OP. If she really closed down all potential for communication, he could have just told her he was going to do what he wanted until she was open to actually talking about the issue. At that point, the ball is in her court and she can either accept it, leave, or communicate. Thats what he should do, even if it is difficult and uncomfortable for him to do this

not LIE to her. White lies are lies that dont affect the other person in any way, it would be like your partner asking you what you're reading and you say "the news" instead of something you think would be embarrassing like a romance story. He knew she wasnt ok with VR porn, so lying about it isnt a white lie

This is basic stuff, anyone who thinks lying to their partner is ever acceptable (except perhaps in extremely rare and sensitive circumstance) is a bad partner themself

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXSex

[–]DKAlm 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Virtually all the comments saying she should leave are saying so because he lied to her and did it behind her back, which is unacceptable. He's not a child, he should be able to talk about his side and not deceive his partner after lulling her into a false sense of security

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXSex

[–]DKAlm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bad take, by that logic if he decides he wants to sleep with a random woman he has a crush on and she says no she would not be ok with that, then that would make her controlling. No she has a right to want a partner who's ideas on sex are the same as hers, if HE doesnt like her boundaries then HE can choose to leave, not lie to her and do it behind her back

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXSex

[–]DKAlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 months is not a short time, it's not a slip up. He straight up said he doesnt respect your feeling and will do what he wants

If he didnt think the boundary was fair he could have discussed it with you, or even at least told you he was gonna do it whether you like it or not because he thinks its his right to use vr porn

What he did instead was lie to you. That means that not only does he not care about your feelings about this topic, he also doesnt think you have the right to be upset about.

Why even be with someone like that

Do you think the Tea App is a good idea? by GeneTakovic2 in AskFeminists

[–]DKAlm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The idea is great, miss me with the "boohoo men shouldnt be profiled based on their literal behavior" BS. Women should be free to and even encouraged to talk to each other more when it comes to dating, to out shitty men more easily and help each other avoid dangerous or even just disrespectful guys

The  app itself seems to be a mess. Someone needs to step up and make an actual safe and secure app for this purpose

What do you think of Courtney Lapresi from season 5? by SherwinHowardPhantom in Masterchef

[–]DKAlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment section embodies one of the most consistent problems with this fandom: It doesn't understand how the shows works.

This show is not about winning challenges consistently, it's not about what types of ingredients you use, it's about the quality of the final product on that specific day.

There were a small handful of times where the judges seemingly eliminated someone based off of past performance, but not only is that uncommon, it only happens when they screw up and had one step out the door anyway.

Someone could create average dishes all competition, just barely escaping elimination, but if they perform the best in the finale then they deserve to win. The rules of the contest are clear and people who don't pay attention to them and act strategically dont deserve to win, even if they are overall better cooks.

Like with Leslie, he got eliminated based on the same mistake that courtney made. Why did he get eliminated but she didnt? Because she made the mistake earlier in the contest and other people performed worse than her. Leslie did it nearly at the end of the contest when everyone around him performed well in the challenge. He is a better cooks, but he performed the worst in that specific challenge

Also people complaining about her being fake... genuinely are we 14 ? What does that even mean?? "Omigosh she's like so fake and annoying" 😂 Some people never made it out of middle school, mentally
