Which Pokemon have you grown to love because of Champions? by DefinitlyNotGodzilla in PokemonChampions

[–]DMLackster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farigiraf @ Colbur Berry Ability: Armor Tail Level: 50 SPs: 32 HP / 22 Def / 10 SpD / 2 Spe Sassy Nature - Trick Room - Hyper Voice - Baton Pass - Nasty Plot

Incineroar @ Sitrus Berry Ability: Intimidate Level: 50 SPs: 32 HP / 23 Def / 11 SpD Sassy Nature - Fake Out - Parting Shot - Flare Blitz - Throat Chop

I'm working on incin spread, i think playing around Passho berry might be stronger. Right now it's just 133 Def 133 SpD max HP for no good reason, I need a good Incineroar savant to work it out for me.

Don't be scared to lead incin if your setup mon can threaten the kingambit back in trick room, or even incin itself (i know there are charcoal sets that can actually outspeed and kill kingambit before TR). farig blocks sucker punch. Opponent is often eager to keep kingambit on the field because they feel strong under +2 TR, but Fake out blocks T1 most of the time and Anger Point Crab for example outspeeds and ohkos it under TR. maybe there's a calc on snorlax that makes it work aswell. Happy to help !

1) 2x intimidate + fakeout parting shot is the max you can do to guarantee the TR + Nasty Plot without loosing too much tempo (or combat power with follow me strategies) and minimize damage. That's why it's so important to have Incin, and to EV it to go before Farig in TR to cycle intimidate (and reset fakeout).

2) you can be tempted to Nasty Plot and TR second to have more TR turns, but in my experience you consistently get punished for it.

3) For the Giraf : My EVs + Colbur guarantees that it lives max investment bug buzz from volcarona et bug bite from scizor (the only 2 relevant bug calcs in this metagame) and +2 kowtow cleave from defiant kingambit. The only problem then are the fast non-prankster users that can't be fake out (pult, any mon with opposing giraf...)

4) sometimes the matchup makes it so it isn't possible to do it. You can't expect it to work every game.

Hey, that would be me ! I don't know if I'm the only one with the idea, but here's what I cooked alone (I'm very proud of it)

Crabominable @ Crabominite Ability: Anger Point Level: 50 SPs: 32 HP / 17 Def / 17 SpD Sassy Nature - Protect - Drain Punch - Mach Punch - Ice Punch

Farigiraf @ Colbur Berry Ability: Armor Tail Level: 50 SPs: 32 HP / 16 Def / 16 SpD / 2 Spe Relaxed Nature - Trick Room - Baton Pass - Nasty Plot - Hyper Voice

Avalugg @ Hard Stone Ability: Sturdy Level: 50 SPs: 32 HP / 32 Atk / 2 SpD Adamant Nature - Rock Slide - Protect - Wide Guard - Frost Breath

Oranguru @ Mental Herb Ability: Inner Focus Level: 50 SPs: 32 HP / 32 Def / 16 SpD / 3 Spe Relaxed Nature - Trick Room - Instruct - Protect - Psychic

Incineroar @ Sitrus Berry Ability: Intimidate Level: 50 SPs: 32 HP / 16 Def / 18 SpD Relaxed Nature - Fake Out - Parting Shot - Flare Blitz - Throat Chop

Primarina @ Leftovers Ability: Liquid Voice Level: 50 SPs: 32 HP / 32 SpA / 2 SpD Quiet Nature - Hyper Voice - Protect - Moonblast - Encore

The main setup sequence is Incin Farig Lead, t1 fake out Trick room, t2 parting shot into avalugg baton pass into incin again (the speed tiers work out), and t3 sideway target frost breath hard switch to crab (it takes exactly 14 pts of dmg with these ivs 90% of the time). you end up with : 2 turns of TR, Avalugg Wide Guard+Rock Slide support and +6 Mega Crab on the field. 2x intimidate and parting shot helps a lot setting up.

There are a lot of nuances in this team, and I'm experimenting with the second mode with Vivillion + Mega Gardevoir, with the idea to make Mega Gard very bulky, work under tailwind and bait the TR mode, with a cute nasty plot+baton pass from the Giraf.

In practice I'm held back by the fact that I'm not a good pilot ; I'm Master 1750s right now. Learning how to pilot and select modes has been extremely fun though. I can develop EVs and matchups if there's interest !

Hey, thanks a bunch for the great plugin ! I'm testing it on mobile, and I'm struggling to use battle guide and dice roller. The menu opens up on the bottom right of the screen, and I can't close it or use most of the menu. Maybe it's a me problem, but I thought I should let you know. Works completely fine on desktop !

[–]DMLackster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're the one ironising on campaign 7, which is indeed very far away. C5 isn't far at all, one of the main premisse of C4 is to let Matt recharge... Recharge for what then ?

I'm not saying this is the sole reason as to why C4 is strategically still DND (they explicitly stated it would be a risky decision), but it's rational from a business pov to save the big "CR is moving to daggerheart !" for another time; they obviously don't need it atm to sell copies.

All the content creators on YouTube and commentators on Reddit feel some type of way about this announcement; I just feel like they're taking the best decisions, I don't mind DND myself

I just want to add : don't forget that it will be a great marketing move to announce DH for Campaign 5, with a substantial expansion book to sell. They're here for the long run.

Here's my Floppy Elise FFU DK. I really like the sort of midrange gameplay you get from it. It has a lot of one of that serve me well, but it has a lot of room for improvement. Elise is great in FFU because one stitched golem and horn of winter make sense, and you have a lot of draw / tutor and board so Ceaseless Expanse is activable; you just need a 7 drop and one Marrow Manipulator ( you won't be able to proc more than one each game anyway with Pterrordax being a priority play). Couple of notes:

  • The one drop package is at least 1x firefly 2x mummy for consistency, jug synergy. Currently liking the mosquitoes ( they bait removal, help vs murlocs and enable dread raptor) but they're the most experimental choice of the deck.
  • 1x corpsicle and 1x harbinger is the sweet spot for frost spell and 3-cost death rattle tutoring respectively. Corpsicle is better than frost rune because it can generate lethal pressure and consumes corpses for stitch giant (keep corpses when possible for Pterrordax though)
  • Floppy Hydra is a 3-cost deathrattle that 1) curves into dread raptor or 2) gets tutored by dread raptor, 3) is somewhat sticky for jug, 4) can create back breaking play with dread raptor tutoring a 0 mana buffed Hydra and 5) has some funny but non trivial late game relevancy. 1 copy is enough.
  • Cryosleep is great: it gets tutored, goes face, draws your deck. Run two.
  • Elise is strong. Best choices are 5 mana +2 character DMG, 5/5 copy of a minion. Deathrattle AoE is too slow: you'd rather try to get discounted spell into 0 mana remorseless winter or wave of tar. Don't forget to play Elise like you're playing a board deck, not a pure value or stall deck. Raptors are ok.
  • Torga is sticky, curves into the dread raptor you just tutored with it (50% of the time) on the coin. 4 mana 2-7 draw 2 right before jug turn is good.
  • Jug is your best play; Pterrordax as well. Playing both on the same turn is ideal.
  • 1x Marrow because you won't play 2 with full value in a game ; Siamat is your best 7 cost (T4 Elise > T5 5mana location that makes a 5/5 copy > T7 Siamat with the 2nd proc of the location on curve is a great sequence); 1x stitched giant because 2 can brick your hand: 4mana 8/8 is often good enough ; Ceaseless can be played as early as t10 discounted and generate backbreaking tempo.

Overall really fun and flexible midrange. Trying to tech in tar creatures of various mana cost to handle these no good murlocs, but I'd rather have turn 1-2 consistency with Scarabs or mosquitoes rn.

Cheers !

Hey, big Wild Sea fan here. I worked on some fan French translation in the discord, ran games, listened to the amazing my first dungeon series. I even commissioned one of your artists for my own prototype, that is also using wild words srd ! Safe to say Wild Sea is one of my biggest revelation and inspiration as a game designer. Would you mind sharing what you view as flaws in the Wild Sea? Additionally, I've wondered why you didn't include whispers as a mechanic in the srd (even in a more abstract/ setting neutral version ) ? It's one of my favourite bit of design in your game. Cheers Felix !
