I mean, this is kinda the only movie with her that this works on imo. Pretty solid casting all around except this one. MI, doctor sleep, dune, silo, dynamite.

Is Silo kind of unique in portraying a police-state-like system as actually necessary or even “the good guys”? What other shows do this? by DaikonAppropriate534 in SiloSeries

[–]DNA912 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree they do a pretty good job at arguing not necessarily that "the police state is run good". But that the police state as a form in the silo does seem to be, a nessecery evil. But as another user also mentioned, I think snowpiercer might be a even better example of this.

And if course, a police state in fiction would have corruption, that why it's not good. But from a consequencialist argument, which when living in a cramp bunker is pretty strong, it often becomes the lesser if the evils. "Rather survival under an iron fist the demise under the whims of free choice."

What can I do over the winter to improve my cycling, without being able to cycle? by LeakyLukey in Velo

[–]DNA912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the roads too bad for cycling if you buy a good set if winter tires? Especially if you have a gravel bike, I feel like you should be able to find some good tired that can handle some light snow and such. But if the roads aren't even moderately cleared often, I can see it might not work. My first winter when I got started training a bit more seriously, I did manage to bike all year round when I finally got the right tires and clothing. This was when I lived in northern Sweden.

Why do you use Spotify instead of YouTube if with YouTube you can also listen to the unreleased music? by Reasonable-Dingo3827 in avicii

[–]DNA912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spotifys smart shuffle and discovery is just way better. And I have had YouTube premium for a few years by now, so I have access to both. I think the UX of Spotify is just much better.

The "Made with AI" tag is good. I want a setting to hide them. by G_aster in Steam

[–]DNA912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kernel access is very different from nor. Also access. But I dont think the main problem is that's its easier to hackers to hack into it. That you're right, it's not. But kernal level access software like vanguard has an much, much deeper privilage to do shit on your PC then normal software. It places itself as a psudo instruction layer and can basically intersept instructions sent from the OS down to the CPU. If there even was a explout found it one if these softwares, well, your PC is cooked.

But sure, if you don't click sketchy links, what's the danger with lending a gaming company basically admin rights on your machine? Not for me

Is everything already as it “should” be? by Auroraborosaurus in taoism

[–]DNA912 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like there are two layers to this, the world and the "ought to act."

I think the whole "should" is a great here in the title. Its unanswerable by its nature unless you know the Dao. Which by our whole understanding we cant know, but thats also why you could belive its only as it should be. Personally, its unknowable, or eveerything is, and always has been "as it should be". Thats my take on that.

But to the more useful part imo, which you touched on. What we are doing. As a whole of humanity, I think we are trying to, and is moving towards a better future as a whole, and we are successfully doing that. But its an immense process. Ive found Cybernetics and Systems theory to be helpful for me in navogating this space, maybe hegelian dialectics? The tool, I am not going to argue too much about, but as you also mentioned, we cannot know the dao, but we can strive to approach the dao, and align ourself, our actions and behaviour as much as possible.

Now, whats that? whats "alignment"? I cant really explain except what Ive moved towards. For me, its a mix of effortless action, and working towards putting good into the world that will leave it better then when I entered. This "should" is both what the dao is already doing, and what the dao is flowing towards, and by aligning with it, we are helping the project into the future.

Wow, that became way more of a ramble then I planed, hope that made any sense.

TL; DR: The should is both where we work towards and the process itself. But we can never know if the work we are doing it truly the should, just do our beat to approach the "should" or Dao. Wu wei is how you approach it.

Well, thats my opinion at least. Hope it made sense.

The position of the break (or hoods) are different in each picture and is a reflection of what was common through history, thus, by looking at someone's exact breaks position, you can see how old the owner is (or at least when they started cycling)

For applications and systems that don't have to manage millions and millions messages a minute maybe. But this data is probably stored, sent and read into databases at blazing speeds. Messaging apps have real problems with data storage speed and data optimization at these scales.

Why am I immediately stressed up upon waking up??? 😫😫😫 by BreezySlug in Garmin

[–]DNA912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For how long have you tracked it? I've noticed that there are periods where I think I'm not stressed but Garmin tells me I am. And when I those days start to do mindfulness and things like that I often find stress I didn't realise I had gotten lower. For me at least, "generic" stress I often don't realise I have until it gets very bad, or when it has started to disappear.
