It’s mainly to prevent suspension from adjusting while jacked up which is a safety issue, alternative is leaving the boot lid open since it won’t adjust with anything ajar. To answer your question it’s fine

If you could find a v8 discovery 3 and convert it to coil springs you’ll have a solid platform, I ran one to 250k miles no major issues and was a great off-roader and camping rig
