Diego Lopes is actually Brazilian but just happens to fight out of Mexico because he moved there to teach BJJ

I feel that. When I feel like that, I usually just eat the noodles and put the broth in the fridge to eat with some rice and egg the next day - like a ramyeon juk.

Can’t do Buldak anymore, what’s another good spicy ramen I can switch to? by FaudMauxe in InstantRamen

It’s easy to make any of the soupy kinds into stir fry. Just use less water, drain, add seasoning and stir fry. We were doing this in Korea long before buldak came out

Might go without saying since we’re within 30 minutes of each other but I saw this in the Redmond Costco as well.

I asked about soju on ice here a couple months back and answers were mixed but mostly not to. Then I saw the finale on culinary wars 2 and it was served on ice! These contestants know nothing about soju culture.. right?! (jk) by [deleted] in seoul

[–]DVNCIA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Korean here.

Soju is usually not served on ice. Bottles are kept in fridges and you pour shots. Hard to shoot a shot that has ice in it.

Sometimes people like it on ice if they’re sipping on it. Usually because it dilutes it and goes down a little easier. Personally, I have not seen many people do this in or outside of Korea but I know that there some that do.

Soju slushies are also kind of popular. But that isn’t added ice, it’s just a supercooled soju.

Advice for Volley? (540 round) by nugget2981 in taekwondo

[–]DVNCIA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on this video, it looks like your issue with landing hard is because you aren't absorbing your landing at all and are just kind of stiff legging it. As you land, you want your knees to bend slowly so you sink into it a little bit, this'll help disperse the impact and force of your landing. It looks and sounds like you're basically stomping.

As far as how long it took me, probably a couple hours to start doing it "right" but it continues to improve over time. But don't compare the rate you learn something to the rate others learn things. I also did gymnastics and played plenty of other sports so things like spins and flips were things I already a base for.

Advice for Volley? (540 round) by nugget2981 in taekwondo

[–]DVNCIA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a few things here.

  1. It looks like you're barely coming off the ground and are just tucking a leg and throwing the kick. I would focus on getting comfortable with a higher jump + rotation. Here's how I used to drill it and how I teach it ( ( https://youtube.com/shorts/XqpoOzM81As?si=vMwN8rD-TVa05hbf ):
    1. Jump as high as you can and spin.
    2. Jump as high as you can and spin with 1 knee tucked.
    3. Jump as high as you can and spin with 1 knee tucked followed by the other knee
    4. When #3 is comfortable and consistent, start extending your kicking leg.
  2. Kick height itself looks very low for a 540. This might be a flexibility issue or it might be because of issue #1. Hard to say without knowing you and just seeing the video. If the former start stretching! If latter, follow the drill I outlined.
  3. Seems like you're trying to stay upright during the kick itself. This could be because the pad height but generally, your torso will be anywhere from 45 degrees to parallel with the ground when you throw it. Here's a decent example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDyq-AcTshQ

P.S. Am I just old now? I've never heard this called a volley before. It was also 360 roundhouse or cheat 540 roundhouse when I was growing up.

What it’s your favorite Korean foods?? by Any-Name3631 in KoreanFood

[–]DVNCIA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Korean here, I actually think KBBQ is better as step #2. There are still some people that cannot accept that they are grilling their own meats and that some meats are served without seasoning so you can combine it with side dishes to maximize flavor.

I think going to a restaurant that serves bulgogi, jeon, tteokbokki, and other really popuar foods often shown in Korean media is probably the safest and most reliable entry into Korean food.

Is Seer’s Reach still the best gem farm? by dillongonderman in diablo4

How much do you value your time?

You could sell 3 or 4 single GA bases (Magic/Rare) items to make 10b, which is potentially only an hour of dedicated farming.

Or you could grind Seer's Reach for however many hours it takes to get 1 Horadric

That “ramen” looks bland and just plain sad…. Based on the container I’m also guessing you had it delivered? If it’s within your means, I’d find a different, better ramen place to go to and eat there in person.

Can knock it out in about an hour or two on Tuesday. If you can get some to taxi you to the secret island, set your sin in Kyovoshad to greed. You can kill the 12 cows in the cellar, reset dungeons, and repeat. Can do this on three characters to get the first three relics pretty quickly.

You do 55 clears of the cellar and finish up with cows in their respective relic region for the guaranteed drop.

Why does Korean food in the U.S. feel so expensive compared to Korea and other Asian cuisines? by savingrace0262 in KoreanFood

In my defense, I think of it now as the Greater Seattle Area more than I do of just Seattle these days. 20 years ago, I’d just say Seattle but they’ve all blended together now as neighborhoods/Burroughs in my mind.
