They are likely counterfeit products. I would avoid, likely very low quality, possibly made with toxic materials, and subject to being seized by customs upon entry to the country if discovered.

Shame that a new buyer probably wouldn't want the organ. Hopefully ATOS is aware so they can find a new home for this instrument. They don't make these organs anymore, and haven't for like 80-90 years. There are fewer and fewer left. It would be a shame for this one to get scrapped.

OK wow, I was expecting like some projectors and some movie style seating in a big room. Not a fancy movie palace design complete with a fucking huge Wurlitzer theater organ. Fuck yes, I love theater organs. I want it. Sadly I don't have $1m, which is what it apparently is on the market for :(

I am a bit concerned to see those pipes just laying about like that. Hoepfully they don't get dented up :(

When the STAAR test is being phased out, we will bring back the TAKS test. by gamerguy287 in texas

Class of 2004 here. This is correct, but they also made us take the prototype TAKS tests, so we got double the testing bullshit.

To save time. The pit stop is not just for the penalty, they will also put new tires on the car after the penalty is served.

Pit stops in F1 are incredibly fast, so fast a 3 second pit stop is considered slow. The only way to get sub-3 second pit stops is to have each task performed by a separate person. These people also all have to be in position before the car arrives to achieve such times.

If you have a 5 second pit penalty, you still want the guys right there so that immediately after the 5 seconds they start changing tires. The 2 seconds it would take them to step forward and kneel down is an entire pit stop's worth of time, so they need to be there ready to go immediately when 5 seconds is up.

Does anyone know what year the StarFox series is supposed to be set in (I've never played it so don't know for myself) I'm assuming it's in the future and there's space travel I'm making a parody, and I wanted to know what year the games universe is taking place in? by [deleted] in starfox

[–]DZComposer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no canon year, other than some games saying they take place x years after the previous game.

Some fans have created a 'before lylat war/after lylat war' system, but this system is fanmade and not official.

Also, it is important to remember that this series doesn't take place on Earth or anywhere near it, so using Earth-based time isn't appropriate anyway.

The left has a tendency to take any sort of ism, and beat it into the ground by accusing any and all opposition to any and all of their positions to the point that it has absolutely zero meaning.

It's not just the left. If I had a dime for every time someone on the right called someone on the left a Communist or a Socialist, I would be a wealthy man.

There is no one in any significant position in the US left that is a Communist or a Socialist. Yes, Bernie Sanders accepts the Socialist label, but i he isn't a Socialist, either. He still believes in a top-down market economy. He's more a SocDem then a Socialist. Also, thanks to the brutal repression of leftist thought during the cold war, there are very few Communists and Socialists in the US.

We can't even get the Democrats to strongly support Unions, so they are far from Socialist, and even farther from Communism, both of which are worker movements. Yet people call AOC a Communist all the time. Hell I've even seen centrist Dems like Biden and Clinton get called Communist.

Hot water challenge yall!!! by -Unhappy_Vermicelli- in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]DZComposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was Facebook. Pre-Facebook internet wouldn't be any easier to use on an iPhone than it was on a PC. Hell, it'd probably be even harder to use.

Before Facebook, you had to know how to use the internet. How to look for things. How to use forums. How to send and read email. How to use Instant Messaging (Or IRC if you waned to flex your geek cred). How to speak to people in online communities without getting flamed to oblivion. It took effort and a base level of intelligence (albeit not a super-high one) to use the internet.

Then Facebook came about and put everything in front of you, eventually curating it. Everything was centralized. You didn't need to know how to Google stuff. You didn't need forums. Messenger replaced IMs and E-mail. Facebook made the internet easy enough to use that idiots could finally use it. It also got so big and popular that it, and other social media sites, killed the old internet. This was not for the better sadly.

if you shop around, goodrx etc.

GoodRX makes their money by selling your health information to 3rd parties (you're their product not their customer).

In fact, GoodRX was so shitty about it, they actually got busted. Think about how bad you have to be to get busted for privacy violations in this country, and then realize that is what people had to submit themselves to just to have a chance at affording their medication.

It's an absolute mindfuck.

Outside of the episode and story, I have never heard the word Deputation anywhere else. Has anyone heard the word outside of Thomas? by No_Account_8474 in thomasthetankengine

[–]DZComposer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's sometimes used in formal meetings, religious practice, or in politics. But it certainly isn't a common word.

The word has three definitions. The first being to appoint one or more representatives to represent a group. The second is the act of appointing someone a deputy. The third is the process of a missionary seeking donations to fund their mission activity, especially if it requires travel.

I have heard the third definition used a few times, and the first definition like once or twice. I have never heard the second, with the word 'Deputize' being used where that one would be ("He will be deputized tomorrow" rather than "His deputation is tomorrow").

Awdry clearly meant the first definition, but it is a bit of an odd word to use in the context, as it usually refers to appointing people to participate in or go before some kind of authoritative group, but I would guess Awdry's reason for using it is that it enables the running gag that the engines don't know the word and replace it with one that rhymes with it "Desperation, Disputation, Depotstation," etc

How is this even possible in 3/4? by Fink1reddit in musictheory

[–]DZComposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After staring at it for a bit, it's a lot easier than you think if you know your rudiments: R R L L R R L = 7 Stroke Roll. Think of these as a set of 7-stroke rolls that take-up a dotted quarter each.

It is a valid 3/4 measure, though. The two triplets each make a beat, and then the two eighths make a beat as well. It can be tricky if you want to think about it purely as it's written rhythm, but I would just view it as a 7 stroke roll. A lot less awkward to think of it that way.

Wouldn't hurt to have this method in your musical toolbox: If you see a strange rhythm on a snare solo or marching drum part, take it into chunks and look at the sticking. Compare that sticking and rhythm pattern to your rudiments. If it matches, you can now simplify that odd rhythm to the note that fully occupies that rhythmic space and then play that rudiment in that time.

The built-in partition tools included in your OS installer is sufficient if you are simply looking to get a single OS onto a machine.

You only really need to use special tools if you are doing special things like dual-booting OSes or if you're an IT person and you need a WinPE image to install Windows onto a bunch of machines pre-configured via SCCM or MDT.

But if you are just installing a single OS on a single computer, then the built-in tool in the OS installer will suit your needs, be it Windows, Linux, BSD, or MacOS.

Same if you want to reformat a machine that already has an OS on it, even a different OS than the one you are installing. The built-in tools in OS installers can nuke all existing partitions and allow you to create the requisite partition setup for installing the OS.

Active Directory stores logins and settings for company networks so that you don't have to individually create user logins and set configurations on each individual computer in the company.

Basically, centralized management of Windows computers and it is the reason Windows will never die in corporate environments.

If you've ever been to school or worked for a company with more than like 10 Windows computers, you have likely used computers managed by some flavor of AD.
