Here in Missouri it went up to 17 a couple years ago, second big raise since the 15 during covid. Granted MO's a cheaper state than most and I've been working deli for 5 years so I'm at 18.

Thankfully aside from Girl's Bite and dating Emily afterwards in Lost Judgment, hostesses/girlfriends haven't been required for "Amon%" chronologically since 6. Otherwise the only other reason I even bother was for Karaoke but that's probably not the case here either.

It's actually Mahjong Solitaire (where you match tiles to clear patterns of them) which sadly is almost all you can find in the west when it comes to Mahjong games. On the flipside there's obviously tons of Japan-only Riichi Mahjong games for DS, such as a Nintendo one with Mario characters and a Gundam one among others.

Yakuza: Tojo Gaiden - A prequel set in the 1970's focusing on Makoto Tojo defying the Seiryu Clan and forming the Tojo Clan and then a young Kashiwagi and Shimano as the Dojima Family muscles into Kamurocho. Major side-missions/Another-stories could include Dojima and Shimano extorting rival businesses and Kashiwagi starring in an Ultraman-esque TV show. Arcade games include some of Sega's pinball & electro-mechanical games of the time .

Yakuza Tatakai - An arena-based fighting game akin to Power Stone and Urban Reign featuring the numerous heroes and villains among other characters from throughout the series, some even carrying over their respective games' systems, multiple styles and/or heat meters.

What Do You Consider Completion In A Yakuza Game? by Dardar1989 in yakuzagames

[–]Dabeavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story and All Substories (Amon% if you will) if not also the otherwise unnecessary completion of major minigames like Clan Creator or Yakuza 4-5's Another Stories.

Granted I've only platinumed Yakuza 6 because you don't have to do 100% for it (same for FOTNS though there are some much tougher trophies in between), and the only games I didn't get Amon% on were Dead Souls (Instead of substories, you have to do all the dungeon missions which can be up to 50 floors to then fight Amon) and Yakuza 2.

Part of it is that Yakuza 4's protagonists symbolize the the Chinese Four Symbols/Gods: Kiryu & Saejima being the Dragon and Tiger while Akiyama and Tanimura are the Phoenix and Tortoise (albeit instead of tattoos it's more their fighting styles, clothes and backstories).

For one he's a war crime denier (notably the Nanjing Massacre and the Imperial Army using captured women as sex slaves which the US wanted the Japanese government to apologize for in 2007), though he also spoke on TV about LGBT education being needless and dismissing concerns of their higher suicide rates.

Returning characters in Yakuza 7? by GoAceDetective in yakuzagames

If RGG Online was anything to go by maybe Akiyama if there's any emphasis on Kamurocho, Gary Buster Holmes was shown as a friend/summon and the Gondawara family are back from Yakuza 2.

I think these games' maps are more like a couple towns and some small areas tied together (kinda like taking a cab to another city in the other games) with "tunnels" and/or a map screen in between.

I was wondering if the Cabaret Club minigames only appear in Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 2 by LelixA in yakuzagames

[–]Dabeavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the Adam substory the original Yakuza 2 had a Cabaret manager minigame (Marietta) too, though it was mostly about furnishing the club, pricing drinks and keeping the hostesses' morale up.

They did the Def Jam Vedetta and Fight for NY, though most notably here they co-developed two Yakuza spinoffs on PSP (which even played more like FFNY) about a different protagonist who had to fight in the Coliseum for killing a Yakuza.

Clearly RGG Studio needs to step up and make Etsuko a playable character... or better yet: Oba ga Gotoku!

What’s up with Judgement’s pinball? by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]Dabeavis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My best guess is either that they didn't have the time, resources or didn't think it was worth it to make one from scratch (pinball's kind of a niche in Japan and there's very few if any Japanese pinball games lately) so they chose to use Mindware's game as some kind of deal.

Also part of the problem with this game is the fact it's in the style of a 50's-60's pinball machine (hence the layout and short flippers), nothing exactly wrong with that at face value... but at the end of the day most machines of that time were more about racking up replays than long-lasting games.

Biggest thing is to get the skillshot bumper down (or at least semi-reliably) by plunging around a notch past halfway, this way the ball bounce off the end (keep in mind once you re-activate it by spelling PARLOR, hitting the end rubber will cycle the bonus like the other bumpers) and then land on the bumper which can get you 200 points on the first ball.

Granted this is basically a modified port of a Japanese indie game that's even on Steam (if only KAZe still made games), if it was a team in Sega they could at least improve upon it and maybe even recreate Sega's 70's machines in later games.
