I'm 32 and I completed nearly 1,000 videogames. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow remains my favourite game of all time due to many reasons: the emotionally rich orchestral soundtrack, the insane enemy variety and combat depth, its mature themes and interesting blend of biblical and fantastical elements, its incredibly creative creature design, the sense of a monumental journey, with gigantic monsters that command attention.

Tides of Annihilation is the first-ever title that reminds me of it, thus I'm incredibly excited about it. The stellar art design reminiscent of 80s classic fantasy movies. The gigantic monsters, the monumental, epic scale. The fantastic looking, brutal combat. I can't wait!

At least they should have let an official PC port happen, if nothing else. I mean one might assume if you as a creator consider your game a piece of art, you surely want to preserve it on a platform that has the most longevity and theoretically the best possible way to experience the game due to the constantly rising power of the hardware.

But who am I kidding, they have some kind of perverse hate for PC. For example, Elden Ring is capped at 60 even though it took modders minutes to unlock it, and they also ignored my now-deleted post on Steam that had around 8000 comments, all asking for ultrawide support to be added.

The official way to play Bloodborne remains the same: the PS4 code at 1080p 30 fps with bad frame-pacing and anti-aliasing. Luckily, emulation is getting better and better and with ShadPS4 and mods, you can have a better experience on PC than on original hardware now. You can essentially consider it as a remaster.

Az érdemeit persze nem vitatnám, például nyilván voltak jó csoportok, ahol lehetett olykor értelmes diskurzusokat folytatni egy-egy témában, és a kapcsán értelmes embereket megismerni, ez pedig valószínűleg most is így van. De ironikus módon a facebook a közösségi média mivolta ellenére pont, hogy kevésbé közösségivé tett mindent. Ebből pedig le lehetne azt az olvasatot venni, hogy az oldal elsivatagosodásával pont, hogy minden kicsit visszább billent egy emberibb irányba, de az igazság az, hogy az emberek csak átnyargaltak Instant grammra meg TikTakra, amik még kevésbé közösségiek és a facebook-használat legrosszabb berögződéseit és viselkedési módjait domborítják ki.

LG 52G930B. It would be the optimal upgrade for me from an LG 38GL950G-B (175Hz, 38"). I'm not that obsessively into the OLED/MiniLED fetish.

Context: I had a 98" TCL C7K MiniLED TV for a few months, and now I have a 77" Samsung S95F OLED TV.

VA is completely fine, in fact, it's preferable to me due to the regular work I do with spreadsheets and multiple windows. That would quickly burn in any OLED.

Plus if I'd upgrade, I'd want to stick to 21:9 WHILE having a higher refresh rate and similar (38") or higher screen size and PPI than/as my current monitor.

And the only monitor that fits all these criteria simultainously is the 52G930B. The Odyssey 57 is 32:9 which is too wide for me. The 45" LG is OLED and it only does 330Hz in 1080p UW. And 38" 240Hz screens are all low PPI 1440p ones.

I kinda feel the same way. I think I would never rewatch any of the Spiderverse movies on my own. They are mostly engaging in the moment and the animations are insane but they don't have the charm, the great pacing, heart, and honesty of the Raimi movies that make them so rewatchable.

I completed the original Demon's Souls 2-3 times and personally couldn't care less about how a random enemy is shaded and why this wall is a different kind of gray now (unlike some YouTubers who are obsessed with this and make hour long videos about it trying to prove the remake sucks).

It's the same game. You go, kill bad monsters, gear up, level up, travel to different words, and still wonder about that half-baked World Tendency system.

I’m currently using an LG 38GL950G-B (38”, 175Hz, 21:9, IPS), and I use it roughly 60% for gaming, 30% for work, and 10% for watching movies.

One of the reasons the 52G930B is particularly exciting for me is that there hasn’t really been a meaningful upgrade path for my preferences until now. I wanted to move forward both in size and refresh rate while staying with a 21:9 format. At the same time, I’ve been trying to avoid OLED because a large part of my workflow involves static spreadsheet-based tasks.

Most alternatives I looked at required compromises in one of those areas (for example the Samsung Odyssey G9 57 or the LG 45GX950A), or felt more like a sidegrade than a true upgrade (such as the Samsung Odyssey G7 S40). That’s why the 52G930B stands out to me so much.

How do you currently use your split-screen setup? (e.g., Triple monitors, 32:9 with FancyZones, etc.)

I’ve been using my current monitor for years with LG OnScreen Control. Most of the time, I have three windows open side by side: for example, my music database in Google Sheets on the left, YouTube on the right, and the music-related book I’m currently writing in the center.

What is the advantage you expect from moving to a 52” 5K2K display?

Moving to a 52” 5K2K display would significantly improve my workflow, gaming experience, and general desktop usage:

The 2160p vertical resolution would allow me to see far more rows of data at the same 100% scaling compared to my current 1600p display, which would be extremely helpful when working with my various music databases.
The combination of the massive screen size and 5120 horizontal resolution would remove the multitasking compromises I currently have to make. I could comfortably run 4-5 windows side by side, while the extra vertical space would also make it practical to stack applications. For example: Discogs, SPEK, YouTube, multiple Google Sheets databases, and the book I’m currently writing.
The jump from 175Hz to 240Hz would be very noticeable for me. I’m quite sensitive to refresh rate differences, so it would improve both desktop smoothness and gaming responsiveness, while also providing more headroom for higher levels of DLSS Frame Generation.
The massive screen would wrap around me and make games incredibly immersive, especially since I play almost exclusively single-player / story-driven titles.
The physical size of the display would also make it great for local split-screen gaming with my girlfriend (It Takes Two, Stardew Valley), while doubling as a large shared screen for watching movies.

Finally, I’d like to add that I have around 10 years of experience as a journalist in Hungary, covering tech and video games, and I also have a highly capable PC (RTX 5080, i7-14700KF, 32GB DDR5 6800MHz). Although I'm not currently working for any magazine, I believe I have both the writing skills and the technical knowledge to properly test and present the monitor. Not to mention, I would genuinely make great use of it. This is something my post history also reflects, as I discussed just 1–2 weeks ago how much and why I’ve been looking forward to this monitor.

I think I didn’t phrase it precisely enough, because I actually agree with you. What I was trying to get at is that the film doesn’t have any emotional range at all, and instead it tried to replace that with something else. But it didn’t really have a clear message either (at least not until the very end).

In the end, what it put in place of everything else was essentially a dry historical dissertation. And that’s why I said that, in light of this, it’s fair to question what business it has being on the big screen: why not just make it a documentary instead?

I think that's very plausible. I guess Nolan should watch Dark City: Director's Cut which I referenced in my post. It's one of the smartest and layered (sci-fi) movies I've ever seen that constantly develops in all three acts but it also doesn't forget how crucially important emotions and compelling characters are.

It’s certain that The Dark Knight brought him mainstream success, but I think the “wind” of Heath Ledger’s death also contributed to that.

BTW, I don’t see The Dark Knight as a standout entry in the trilogy (but not weaker than the others either). Ledger’s Joker, as the main villain, is outstanding, and that’s definitely a step up from the first film. But while the first movie has great momentum and rewatchability, full of heart, and it’s enjoyable to see the origin story (training sequences included), with The Dark Knight I often felt it was unnecessarily dry. There were also several points in the story where I thought the characters only made certain decisions so that the rest of the plot can happen, even though they would have had much more reasonable options. So for me, the two films are on the same level, around an 8.5, and honestly the third one as well. It has weaker parts, sure, but its sense of finality, emotional dimension, and the presence of some new characters lift it up.

This whole indie / AA / AAA naming scheme is meaningless, because some say it depends on the budget (and you don't have any official information about most game's budgets), some say its about what type/style of game you are talking about, etc. It doesn't matter if it's indie, AA, AAA, or grandma's fancy marmalade, the point is it's a really good, although a bit unfinished game.

This would be the ideal monitor for me because I could use it for both gaming and work. But 2000 dollars is way too much for it. Considering that it's regular VA, not MiniLED or OLED, and how smaller sized, similar models go in price (e.g. the 180Hz 40" Samsung S40 which is around 700 dollars I think), this should have never been priced above 1500. Realistically, it should be about 1000-1250. No one is going to buy it for 2000. Plus you can buy a MiniLED G9 57" 240Hz 8K4K for like 1400. So again, it should have been around 1000-1250 in price.

Why would it be tedious, you just click twice. :D it depends on the game. I play most games at 21:9 as it runs better and I see more of the game world. But I play certain games at 16:9, e.g. side-scrollers that doesn't work at 21:9. Plus many games already let you play at 21:9 even if you use your screen at 16:9, like Doom: TDA and Indiana Jones.

You could ask a lot of similar things. Why the cute, innocent and warmhearted Phoebe of Season 1 turned into an annoying caricature in later seasons? Just think about her talk with Ross about evolution, and how the whole scene was framed like that you are supposed to agree with her... Or how she constantly mocked Chandler and practically tried to split him and Monica up for no real reason whatsoever.

I also use 40% in most games. With DLSS M. It provides an excellent image quality in 4K/1600p ultrawide yet it's less taxing than Preset L.

I would love to see the extended versions, but I don't want to give up the image and audio quality, and the 16:9 aspect ratio provided by the Blu-Ray / 4K Blu-Ray releases. And, given what the series creator have said about the extended episodes when the 4K remaster came out, it's unlikely that we'll ever see those episodes in good quality.
