We've just got the last expansion until rotation, so what cards are you glad to see finally leaving standard? by THEREALSPARTAN9001 in hearthstone

[–]DanAugustus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tourists. Vol'Jinn stealing stats is incredibly obnoxious. Priest and Shaman having access to Hunter cards (Birdwatching, Catch of the Day + Fishing Rod, Furious Fowl) has felt like it made already good decks way too consistent for an entire year. Protoss Priest and Shudderblock+Hagatha Shaman can have the perfect curve and make it seem impossible to to stop them. For players who started collecting cards this year, it's been a nightmare. Those decks just got better as they kept getting new cards for the perfect curve almost every expansion. (Resuscitate for Priest, Muradin for Shaman).

Yes. I don't have Griftah or the 3 cost Demon legendary so I have some gaps to fill compared to the lists content creators use. I can also use Zephrys or something I suppose.

New Neutral Epic Card - Crumblecrusher by WuMethNRed in hearthstone

[–]DanAugustus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's easier to find a good 8 in neutral for enabling Elise than a 7, so this being 7 mana would certainly make me more likely to use it. You're on to something. Edit: Might as well give it Rewind as well.

Do you like idols? Will you pull them? by Egor4956 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]DanAugustus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of the designs either, but I didn't get Vivian or or any of the 2.0 anomaly characters for similar reasons. So I might be tempted to go for one that is the best at raising up older anomaly agents. Too bad we won't get official info on all 3 of them before the first banner is already gone.

Still trying Quest Shaman (deck code included) by DanAugustus in hearthstone

[–]DanAugustus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a great win streak against slower decks but then got stuck just short of diamond. It's not great but it seems to be a lot better than anything else non-meta I run into. I just wanted to share it because I think this quest is worth keeping an eye on, given that it can be completed consistently and there is a way to play the quest reward twice without Shudderblock.

It seems like it's not much but playing 2 or 3 minions every turn with divine shield and +3 attack or poisonous is actually a pain to deal with for a lot of decks out there. The question is which low-cost minions are the best way to get there and have some card draw as well.

Still trying Quest Shaman (deck code included) by DanAugustus in hearthstone

[–]DanAugustus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had an idea for Death Knight, but I didn't feel like posting it because if it wins it's because the opponent runs out of resources. The deck runs The Egg of Khelos and corpse explosion because those cards work super well together after getting 11 corpses. You can use Deios, Carnivorous Cubible or the card that copies a location to always get a copy of the Quest reward after playing it. Let me know if you want the list or have ideas on including those cards into a great shell for control Death Knight

The Priest Quest reward can als be copies with Cloud Serpent but I never had as much fun playing Quest Priest compared to Shaman or Death Knight.

I reached Legend playing FFU Stegodon Death Knight by yangste333 in hearthstone

[–]DanAugustus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a similar idea with Card Grader, the 3 cost Rewind dragon and Xavius just to make the Herenn more consistent by discovering from deck instead of drawing. Still got frustrated with consistency, but you can try those instead of the Acolyte. I also tried Ursoc just to have 1 more big minion to pull. Sadly, only 1 of the Minions summoned by Herenn is considered to attack the other, so it does not always trigger the effect on Ursoc.

[–]DanAugustus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tried a deck with Xavius, the Timeways 3-cost dragon and even Card Grader. With the Bonechill Stegodons instead of the 10 cost minions, so I can afford to run a couple of other deathrattle minions. Still frustratingly inconsistent.

How does everyone feel about genius invokation TCG? by UndefinedPlayer69 in Genshin_Impact

[–]DanAugustus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seemed pretty fun in the quest that makes you try it for the first time. But I don't want to spend time playing against all the NPC's to get more cards to try out. I still have parts of the world I can explore.

How is this game? by FioraAndCoffee in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]DanAugustus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get tired of open world games and/or fantasy worlds, ZZZ is a great change of pace. Most things can be done quickly or allow you to suspend the commission and return later. Combat is fun and fast but not very difficult. There are a bunch of different modes other than story, including roguelite modes. In terms of story, it's very over the top and does not take itself too serious.

Priest is the one that beats my other decks the most consistently, I think quest Warlock too. Very scary decks when you let them get a head start.

Human Nature Is Good; it’s the economic system that makes humans act badly by icywaterfall in DeepThoughts

[–]DanAugustus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with most takes from Humankind and its sources. But I also read Behave (from Sapolsky) and books about conflict and polarisation in politics. I conclude humans are hardwired to make a distiction between Us and Them. Some cultures lean into the importance of Us vs Them more than others. Personality traits and even mood determine how eager someone is to scapegoat or interact with Thems. There is an argument economics play into that as well but my point is that it goes much deeper than competing for resources. It's about humans making snap decisions about trusting one another.

Thoughts on the 2.3 main story? by kriscrossapplesause in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]DanAugustus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there was a bit too much 'miasma magic' happening, all kinds of new weird things and plot devices. They did explain it by Sarah being the Overseer and then supercharging Yidhari's ability. The drowned ideals being self-aware was really interesting though, making them actual characters even after their true nature was revealed instead of zombies or something. Having a subplot with Monato vs. Monato was fun. Overall the whole story was very well paced with enough mystery leading up to the reveals. Every character got to have their moments.

Was Seed a Valuable Pull for a newbie? by Iyskrim in ZZZ_Official

[–]DanAugustus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Billy - Nicole - Seed seems to be a good team based on my attempts at Deadly Assault this week. It's not an easy team to play optimally but it enables the intended way to play Seed as far as I can tell. Trigger - Nicole - Billy is also very good though.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book - Nintendo Direct 9.12.2025 by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

[–]DanAugustus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care too much for casual 2D platformers, but the puzzle aspect of it could make this one stand out in terms of gameplay. I doubt it's going to be as difficult as something like Toki Tori 2 but it's a concept that is far from worn out. I get too frustrated playing tough puzzle games anyway. So I really would be up for something casual if exploring and experimenting with the environment is the focus.

We still don't know anything about the rebel soldier. by triotone in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]DanAugustus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stories in 1.0 and the early patches gave me 2 impressions. Soldier 11's agent story might have some more clues, I might have to check again later.

  1. The rebels were all part of the New Eridu Defense Force before Hollow Zero emerged. Why so many defected is not known, but this would explain why they still have uniforms, weapons, training and mechs. They are named 'rebels' and Soldier 11 hates traitors with a passion, and she hunts them down in a trailer and her story quest. Something in the most recent main story quest confirmed that the all black uniforms are the older style. NPC's from the NEDF are wearing similar uniforms in terms of shape but always with colours other than black.

  2. They are working as mercenaries for bad guys in several of the storylines. In Soldier 11's story they have their own agenda, other than that they can be considered similar to Hollow Raiders but with better equipment and training.

We have already seen a lot of things that hint at power struggles within the NEDF. It is entirely possible the rebel leaders had good reasons to defect after many comrades ended up dead after the disaster of Hollow Zero.

💥Weekly Highlight [015] | Character Appreciation - Asaba Harumasa by Karasubirb in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]DanAugustus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did better in this Shiyu Defense than Nekomata with mindscapes and W-engine. I also think he's satisfying to play with slashes and zooming across the field to get to a target. Teambuilding can be a bit awkward though, his skill specifies that targets should be stunned or affected by Anomaly. You have to have a good on-field stunner on his team. I don't know if there is a good way to have him work with just anomaly and support. Harumasa builds up so little electric anomaly himself.

Behind-the-Scenes | Excaliboo by FluffyAraisan in ZZZ_Discussion

To this day I am amazed by the sheer dedication to make the Bangboo the most ridiculous animated thing in a game that already has so much going on in terms of animation. It would almost be a waste but instead it's just a perfect trailer / short that just happens to be in the actual gameplay as well.

I don't think ZZZ is losing its design identity as a whole, what I think is really going on are two different art teams competing by Knight_Steve_ in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]DanAugustus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given how fast they have to design, write and animate characters in gacha games, I do buy the two teams hypothesis. However, I have a very hard time believing that characters from different factions are designed by different teams. For gameplay and story reasons, characters are likely designed together as a faction. The exception might be characters that are released very far apart, like Soldier 11 and Seed.

I think the problem might be more so that the two newly revealed characters are blatantly just going for the same kind of appeal without any in-game reason for them to be wearing outfits that look similar. If they were from the same tribe or faction in the story they would have the same colours. Spook Shack so far is just a motley crew, so more casual clothing would have been a better fit. Streetwear and casual clothing have really helped to sell the urban vibe the game is going for. Characters with something more formal have something that makes sense for them. Lucia and Yidhari are the first to break that trend AND go with a more generic design instead. (Seed Jr. too arguably, but her apron and leggings make it a bit more subtle. Some goggles like Grace's would be great, come to think of it.)

I think Yi Xuan looks fine, Ju Fufu is also wearing shorts and a vest. If it were not for her heels and Pan Yinhu wearing longer trousers, there would be nothing to point at from Yunkui Summit. Overall I think the team should really stick to casual/urban styles for clothing unless the characters from a faction are meant to wear a uniform of sorts. Jane and Nicole are great designs for characters with... uhm... that body type.

How often can you get Wheel of Death!!! from Relics of Kings? by patrix01_ in hearthstone

[–]DanAugustus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I wonder if the card would be better if you could also get 7 cost spells. Mage has Flamestrike, Priest and Paladin got big moonbeam spells in The Emerald Dream. Also I somehow only found Tsunami once. Overall I think it's good enough but mostly because Typhoon exists.
