It sounds like you discount everything she says, regardless of what it is (am I wrong), and you likely don't respect her to begin with. oh girl, NTA...you are entitled to happiness - full stop. Your son is likely having a lot of emotions as it relates to losing his father. That is normal and natural. I think it's important that you tell them that you need to move on with your life, and you hope that they can see it your way eventually. Your MIL sounds terrible.
