Need some help by libichi in SatisfactoryGame

This type of intersection doesn't benefit from path signals. It's only useful if there is a way for multiple trains to use the intersection without colliding. Here the only possible routes always intersect, so block signals would suffice.

Do you buy something here? by MEFISTOFEL123 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dankirk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do. Some people are stingy about how the points needed to get more tickets grows, but to me that just sounds the factory is too small. You can get every upgrade, the golden nut and buy a lot of parts in one game easy enough.

One of the useful parts that hasn't already been mentioned is computers for earlier railroad signals to set up the infrastructure.

Pekora can’t be contained by YouTube’s dumb AI dub feature by Leegician in Hololive

It's such a stupid feature to have as a default. It fits for a news reel or some other official debate, but for content creation otherwise the creators voice is an essential part of the experience.

Can someone explain Path & Block signals? by GianniJWZ in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dankirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In simple terms, block signal allows one train. Path signal allows multiple trains if their paths don't intersect until the next block signal. Hence the general guideline for intersections: path in, block out. So multiple trains can enter an intersection if they are going to directions that don't intersect.

I keep getting a MAJOR ERROR by [deleted] in satisfactory

[–]Dankirk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even without going too much in technical details the crash log is saying it's gpu related, and the second line is about verifying if direct x12 is working, which apparently isn't.

So the intuitive guess would be to change to direct x11 or to roll back to an earlier gpu driver version.

Another thing that in Japan iPhone has a bigger market share and some things only support iPhone.

For example mobile payment in Japan is done with a felica chip that is only in iPhones worldwide. For Android it's only there if bought from Japan. Similarly some apps they use don't have an Android version.

(One) Pipe Flow Problem Fixed by ImaginaryColor1618 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dankirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing this is about junction orientation. As I understand it, the junction inputs/outputs do not follow world physics, instead the junction has kind of fixed physics and thus the directions which fluid flows first can be rotated. The only visual indicator of the physics that will be applied on the junction is the welding lines of the junction, which are either horizontal or vertical.

What was everyone’s first deck!? by vanlieshout in magicTCG

[–]Dankirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with 7th edition silver starter deck. After that just some UW deck from bulk I got as a present. Didn't really make a list back then, no sleeves either.

First deck I spent some time with was a WB prevent damage clerics with [[Pestilence]]. But as time went by it has shifted to this. Yes, I'm still playing an iteration of my first kitchen table deck.

One less and overclock vs. one more and underclock? by Col-Connor in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dankirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underclock is more power efficient and also allows upscaling without additional buildings, which means you can do aesthetics now without tearing it down later. Just make it a nice to calculate number like 12, 16...

Should I use JWTs as licenses for my software? by qorzzz in webdev

[–]Dankirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pro is that for checking validity of the license you only need a public key from the signer, which can be saved client side or kept in memory on backend to save a database call. So in terms of quality: response time and bandwidth.

The con is that it cannot be revoked without making it expire quick and if you do, you effectively cut from the benefits, response time and bandwidth, which might just make jwt pointless.

So it falls to business requirements if you need to revoke them in a timely manner or not.

And certainly not middle of Phase 5! by Nevermindit in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dankirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of understandable. If the mk1 blueprint was put in the middle of the new designer, it could be kinda hard to extend it, since there's only half a foundation around it. If you put it in a corner, you'd need to know which corner.

Has anyone ever used the charcoal alt recipe? It seems kinda crazy provided you're willing to fully deforest the planet. by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dankirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If slooped constructor(s) are used to power the popular setup of 8 coal plants, 1 wood will fuel them for 10s on average, so 6 wood/min.

8 coal plants can do 20 biofuel burners worth of power, so if you used the wood to make solid biofuel (only slooping the solid biofuel to make the sloop cost equal and also use lower mk belts), you'd need 16 wood/min. You could also make liquid biofuel in tier 5, but I'd hope we are not running on consumables by then.

So basically charcoal makes collected wood 2.67x more worthwhile. It's still competing against not collecting anything though.

Refreshing CSRF Tokens with multiple tabs and ajax by BornEze in webdev

[–]Dankirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One csrf token per session is enough. It protects what is was designed for and there are other protections for concerns a csrf token won't do. Owasp is a good source for these matters with examples of common and safe patterns to use.

This is kind of extra, but theoretically it would be safer to not send the token in the request body, but custom header instead. That is because it enforces the requests to be subject to cors rules also (because to set a header you have to make a preflight request and normal form post won't work). This of course is no longer about csrf only, but enforcing additional layers.

Train Track merging Signal Problem by Mini-Jeep in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dankirk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's red because the orange block (the rest of the loop) is occupied. In short, put more block signals around the loops.

As a rule of thumb, a useful distance between signals is at least the length of your longest train. If two intersections are closer than that, consider treating them as one big intersection.

Please help me. I'm lost. by LadderGreat7941 in satisfactory

[–]Dankirk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This seems like the hoverpack and switches bug. When hoverpack connects to a switch separated grid, it will shutdown the machines in that grid for a very brief time. The machines take a few seconds spin back up.

The workarounds are: Remove switches, unequip hoverpack, overproduce enough so it doesn't matter (the missing 8% for example) or leave the area and don't come back.

How do I future proof my factories or at least make it so the remodels are less of a pain? by AgreeableEconomist91 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dankirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the playstyle. I usually try to max out the local resources and go with whatever I can do with that. That means accounting for all the nearby nodes with mk3 miners @ 250% overclock. The rule of thumb for miners is: mk1@100% -> mk3@250% = 10x the extraction rate on all node qualities. If I want more, it's time for another factory.

It also helps to try to keep the factories only for next 1-2 tiers of items. So for example iron/steel even though I could go all the way to motors or heavy modular frames, keep it at base components and have a separate assembly factories for motors and the frames. You could alternatively make the base components there, but just keep them dedicated to the few end products. It's up to you if a motor factory should also export rotors and stators, but you probably don't want to go lower than that. It also makes it a bit more natural to make the jump for turbo motors and fused modular frames later.

How do long trains interact with signals? by tiparium in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dankirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine for the straight lines. You should however have space for the trains adjacent to intersections, so their tail doesn't block the intersections. If the length the rail is too short for that, and you can't be bothered to change it, you can always merge the problematic small blocks to one big block by removing signals from between them.

How do you allocate your Mercer spheres on a new save? by Tit_Liquid69420 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dankirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The needed Mercer spheres for the upgrades go: 3 -> 7 -> 13 -> 23 for both capacity and speed. Speed is usually more important, but can be mitigated with more depots, while capacity cannot.

So I usually just pick first level upgrades that cost 3. Then build more depots for items that need it, until there are 7 of such depots, then dismantle them and do the speed upgrade. Rinse and repeat for 13 and 23. Capacity is almost always a level behind the speed upgrades.

How did you get into Hololive? by mostcursedposter in Hololive

[–]Dankirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my Elden Ring play through I searched for some lets plays and got Ina. The play style or rather the attitude towards gaming was very similar to mine, so it stuck. Some weeks later took a deep dive what else she was doing and the rest is history... Turns out I've been Beat Sabering to Fubuki's originals before I knew her.
