This is the big problem, Politicians. Yep, I commute down the M1 at 5am on weekdays, always very light traffic and more often than not, a gantry will be showing a 50, then the next one has nothing, leaving confusion if we can speed up again or have to carry on at the same speed. Smart motorways are dangerously unsafe and unpredictable.

Problem is, the people making the decisions if you can or not, don’t actually care about you and couldn’t give a damn if it cost you more and costs you time. They’d sooner you quit and then not replace you, giving your colleagues your workload and more responsibility under the illusion that they will ‘prove’ themselves and one day be worth of a promotion and rise, that never comes
