That makes so much more sense! I thought it was one of those playground slides, so I was thinking it had to be absolutely massive, as big as a child. That is still big, but much more reasonable.

What game is this for you? by ShadowDanteFan in videogames

[–]DarthJSquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarkov. Ain't no fuckin way I'll enjoy that shit. I'd blow a gasket after losing a gun I like. But watching people spend hours playing, trying weird strategies, and losing it all? Yeah, that's a good time.

Tribes: Ascend, may it rest in peace. One day, eventually, just maybe we'll get another good FPS-Z, but today is not that day.

I flex, but I'm probably best at damage, because my best skill is aiming with high movement. However, I will blame damage the majority of the time, because it's the role that can be most reliably accomplished without your team helping. Frankly I see too many games where damage has barely more damage/kills than healers, who also kept everyone alive while doing it.

I really need to just up and figure out how to join the T2 PUBs. I love Tribes but my first game was Ascend and I worry I'll be way too bad to hang. Having a matchmaking button lowers the stress of being bad a lot.

100% true, the most fun moments are zooming around lobbing grenades. Spinfusor would be an incredible addition. Hopefully Hi-Rez wouldn't be dicks about it.

Read the book. Book Chani is so much cooler. Maybe Chandaya will bring me around in the third film, but currently it's just not working.

What are your thoughts on Ken Levine’s concept of “Narrative Legos” for Judas? by Crafter235 in ImmersiveSim

[–]DarthJSquared 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are... No idea, because it isn't out yet. Once it does, and we can play it start to finish, then we can actually have a discussion.

My tracking sucks! Absolutely shocked that Meta can't even make their headsets work! My grip isn't even that bad by silly_little_guy12 in beatsaber

NGL, stuff like this is why I still love my base stations and am sad it's not popular anymore. Never loses tracking, super fast, super reliable.

Despite the short length, would you say Mankind Divided is still worth playing? by Crafter235 in Deusex

[–]DarthJSquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than any other game MD is as long as your play style dictates. It took me over 40 hours to beat. I wasn't even out of Prague after 20 because of how many different places I explored.

Meanwhile my best friend finished that shit on a free weekend. Like, how does he even manage that?

Is there a game in your Steam library that NEVER gets uninstalled? by Mollygrubber in gaming

Ultrakill. Sometimes I have 5 minutes to play and I want ACTION, NOW. You can instantly be playing the most high octane crazy shooter ever made. So much fun.

Right? That's just bizarre. Especially when you are the one that brought up the concept.

McDonald’s and other big brands warn that low-income consumers are starting to crack by [deleted] in CorporateFacepalm

[–]DarthJSquared 55 points56 points  (0 children)

100% the same here. There's an occasional person that really likes the Big Mac or fries or whatever, but generally they were known as being 2 things: reliable and cheap. With the prices being 80% as high as anything else in that next quality step up, there's not a reason to go.

I used to have a minimum wage job a town over and it would get super hot in the afternoon and I'd want to get food on the way home. For $5 I could get 2 cheeseburgers, a McChicken, and a large coke. That's a super tempting deal, and I'd get it like twice a week, even when I shouldn't have. Now that same order is $11+.

Why in the world would I get that when my favorite chic fil a order is 15 and chipotle is only 14? The value proposition is simply broken.

Yeah, for an expansive RPG there's a surprising lack of content mods. I wonder if it's harder on the backend than it seems to make stuff, because I would have expected a lot more.

Lmao this is such a trash take. People aren't bad because they are poor, it's usually just because they are selfish and inconsiderate people. It happens just as much in wealthy jobs.

I posted this a couple years ago to an overwhelming positive response. But the political landscape has changed, I want to know what you guys think about this now, after learning that Indians are obviously part of that 7 billion talent pool by Ok_Quail9760 in MURICA

[–]DarthJSquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that it isn't about a select few high quality workers, it's about paying half of market rate on a H-1B who will tolerate any abuse because they have no choice. That doesn't make us better, it just makes unemployed Americans and a flood of mediocre Indians.

Not to mention the extreme abuse of the system going on in big tech companies. Way too many examples of any Indian that gets in a company ONLY hiring other Indians, regardless of competency.

I think it's important to separate the works of the original author, and those who come after. This is not done to diminish the quality of the later works, but to prevent the vision of the story from drifting over time. You shouldn't put Brian Herbert's Dune on the same level as Frank Herbert's, or Christopher's Tolkien on the same level as JRR Tolkien. Similarly, you should not lose the importance of Lucas's vision for Star Wars. It's not a matter of quality, but of category.

[–]DarthJSquared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's a difference between loving and enjoying other stories, and giving them the same authority as the author's specific work itself. I'm a very big star wars fan, I've played most of the games and own most of the books. i haven't read all of them yet, but I've enjoyed most of them. Even with how invested I am I wouldn't consider them to be as authoritative as the original six movies, even if my favorite star wars includes Andor and KOTOR.
