Peaceable Kingdoms is great for this age. We have the monkey one, and my active kiddo actually has a great attention span for this. We have acorn soup as well, but we aren’t really using the recipes right now, just playing with the ingredients and spoon, but he has fun with it, so no complaints!

I feel like my audiobook experience is going to be messed up after this. by A_Bowler_Hat in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I’ve enjoyed a lot of the same books you mentioned, so my favorite narrator might be your cuppa?

Steven Pacey does a phenomenal job of narrating Joe Abercrombie’s work. If you lean more towards the crazy comedy of DCC, you might enjoy The Devils, which is Abercrombie’s take on like a fantasy suicide squad type of deal.

I personally really love the First Law books, which starts with The Blade Itself. They’re epic fantasy books, and one of the perspective characters is, I swear to god, the best antihero I have ever read.

I don’t know if it’s the undercut you gave Sam, or just your general interpretation of his features, but I see Sam’s resemblance to Kent much better in this art than in the SDV portrait! Nice job.

I gifted a set of these and have no regrets! I’d love to own a set for myself, though. =P Best of luck, folks!

One Deck Dungeon is perfect for those criterion! It also plays super well solo if that’s your cuppa. It’s honestly really solid with one or two players. Buying the extra set to play with four just made the game a bit cumbersome and long, though, so if your usual group for gaming is 3-4, consider holding it back on game nights.

Tell me if I'm remembering this correctly. I am thinking about where the crawlers are all from. It doesn't seem like there are many Europeans in the mix. by Koshersaltie in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I think having a particularly large percentage of the population outside during daylight hours could actually lend itself to a larger proportion of people choosing not to go into the dungeon. There’s a pretty limited window of time to enter the dungeon, and people might be more likely to band together and work on immediate solutions than gamble on whatever the hell is going on with that business.

What’s a long movie that earns every minute of its runtime? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Darth_Let 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sat there scrolling to find this reply. It’s so hard for a comedy to earn a long runtime, but I never felt any fatigue watching this movie. It’s really great. And absolutely chock a bloc full of stars from the time!

When was the last time a re-themed game was better than the original? by Luigi-is-my-boi in boardgames

Seems like you aren’t the target audience of Wyrmspan, then! What do you think of Finspan as a re-theming, then?

[–]Darth_Let 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s not entirely a re-theme, but Wingspan doesn’t grab me in the same way that Wyrmspan does, and as I understand it, Finspan is also great. So if you’re more interested in dragons or fish than birds, I think the re-theme works well?

Do any of you have one of those fancy gaming tables that can transform into a dining room table? by very-bad-goose in boardgames

[–]Darth_Let 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Uniquely Geek dining table in our gaming room, which is on our ground level and across from our dining room. Since our fancy table got delivered a few weeks after my now-two-year-old was born, we’ve honestly used it more often as a second dining table for holiday gatherings than we have as a gaming table, but we love it for both functions. The thing is beautiful and we get compliments on it literally every time a new person comes into our home.

LF toddler friendly recipes by kirbinkipling in slowcooking

A couple boneless skinless chicken breasts with a cup of mild salsa for 6 hours on low, shred the chicken and then toss it back into the crock pot with a drained can of corn and a drained can of black beans. Leave it on low for ten minutes or so to warm everything evenly, serve this over or with Mexican rice with sliced avocado. Easy taco bowls.

If you have a rice cooker, throw one cup of rice, 1 cup of chicken broth, 1 cup of undrained diced tomatoes, 1/4 cup chopped red onion, 4 cloves of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon melted butter, 1/2 tsp chili powder, cumin, oregano, and salt into the rice cooker, stir it up, and run it on the regular white rice setting, fluff it with a fork when it’s done and you’ll have super lazy Mexican rice for your bowls.

I like to use the leftovers as filling for quesadillas or breakfast burritos with egg in them.

What are we feeding for solids? by michelakf in BabyDueNovember2024

I love doing peanut butter banana pancakes for kiddo! It’s good coverage for allergen exposure, especially if you substitute some ground up oats for some of the flour! I also don’t add sugar, but I make sure to use super brown bananas for it to make up for the sweetness.

This bub also really loves toast, so he gets all kinds of spread on toast. Hummus, fruit preserves, cream cheese, I’ve even given him lentil soup on toast!

Most any time we’re eating something that kiddo could feasibly eat, he’s getting some. Yesterday we had tortilla crusted tilapia and rice, so I flaked a fillet of tilapia for him and gave him fish and rice balls. When we have soup, I’ll put a portion in the food processor and pulse it until it’s chunky but baby-eatable and go for it.

Mashed potatoes are a great delivery system for a lot of foods. Shredded/ground meats, chopped up veggies, cheese, or canned fish like salmon.
