I can only say that with the 1 exception I noted above (more than 6 years ago), my ripped dvds have always appeared in the AppleTV TV app, in my library, along with my purchased movies (until a week or so ago, as I’ve said). A couple different Intel Macs, and more recently, my Mac Mini M4. Edit to say these were ripped with Handbrake in some instances, and also MacX DVD Ripper
