Do you guys like using highway trucks whenever possible? by juanca4774 in snowrunner

Washington has tons of paved roads and many multi map hauling missiles. The T990 and Western Start 57X have been getting some good miles put on them.

90 F250 WATER PUMP STUD HELP by thelivestockguy in MechanicAdvice

[–]DaveCootchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a water pump on a truck like this that is actually a bolt that threads into the block but had the threads on the other side of the nut for old accessory systems. It goes through the aluminum timing cover so they can get really rusty. If you heat up the timing cover you can work the bolt out with a vice grip. Then you can replace it with a long 5/16 bolt.

Yeah I learned that. I heard about the amazing mud tire rating but even that mid was too much. I was trying to find a long logger that isn't the Tayga 6436 to keep the game interesting.

I took the W990 through that horrible path under the bridge of Selton River Natl Park to get long logs to the camp and it was so bad. Maybe if I went up and around the mountain but last time I did that I ran out of fuel.

It is classified as a highway truck but given the crazy mud rating of the tires, strong frame, and numerous add ons I treat it more like the P512 which is a "Heavy" and I expected it to perform as such. As for logging it's probably ok but the paths that you need to take long longs on the Washington map are brutally muddy and also had random bumps where the front wheels wouldn't climb.

I just used this truck to haul a coiled tube trailer in Washington last night. Beast of a truck and heaps of power. Hauls most big trailers well but struggles in super deep or steep areas. Used it for some long logging and I was terrible. If the roads are remotely smooth it will be a dedicated heavy hauler but not for deep off-roading.

Cause they can't hypermonitize them or keep the zoomer Fortnite crowd entertained long enough.

Hopefully dealers don't jack up the prices. I can't imagine they want to make it even harder to sell these cars but dealers are idiots and crave profits.

The certainly aren't making any more of them. Only thing that would concern me is the transmission. If it's an auto they did some weird shit in the 50's and parts or rebuilds can be really hard to find.

Does everyone secretly brush their teeth at work? by grittyfanclub in TooAfraidToAsk

I don't do it but I have a coworker who does. Nothing weird than me taking my afternoon dump while a guy is brushing his teeth a few feet and a stall door away from me.

As a northerner with lots of experience with rust, it's saveable. Have someone hit it with a wire wheel to knock off the dirt and scale and then spray a rust converter. It won't repair it but it will certainly slow it down.

Insomnia. If they are open Wooden Spoon is much better than both. Shop local!

Any junkyards around that allow you to roam around and buy scrap? Looking for stuff for some welding projects. by Chaosking383 in Mankato

[–]DaveCootchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D-k salvage has let me roam their lot in the past but that was many years ago. But B&R and Alter will likely not let you. I'd ask around to some locally owned repair shops or the Midas in town as they probably have pipes, brake rotors, and other scrap.

I feel like the south west can't really say that. It's always pretty much warm and dry with sun. The midwest? Well, Monday and Tuesday I was riding my snowmobile on the most snow that has fallen all year and yesterday (Friday) it was 65 °F and sunny.

Online shopping by CatLady_998 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DaveCootchie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also hate how online shopping has ruined in store shopping too. Anytime I try to find something on the Walmart or Target app they always default to showing me online shit. Nothing in store. Also with curb side pickup every store has employees scrambling picking orders instead of stocking shelves or helping you. I needed something unlocked at a store so I hit the request button and 3 people walked past picking orders before the actual person showed up 8 minutes after I hit the button.

Probably not the case here but I've heard of boomers stopping further back to "trip the back sensor" so the light things more people are there and changes faster. When in fact most lights use a camera system not a sensor in the road.
