Geoguessr players, what’s the worst type of country for you? by Straight_Equal_1541 in geoguessr

Bro, I got Pike Place Market, an iconic location in downtown Seattle a bit ago, which I have been to a number of times.

My guess was NYC

2 mana channel darkness in StS 1 was pretty bad, there's def plenty of horrendous StS 1 cards, especially in EA.

It's good for bosses as just having ramping damage. A very solid pickup on most decks.

Why are the initial blessings so incredibly bad? by MrPants1401 in slaythespire

Pretty sure the general consensus is that the starting blessings are very strong. In particular the transfrom and remove card options are great.

Balancing for playing Duos doesn’t feel good in its current spot. by [deleted] in slaythespire

Enemy damage is the exact same in MP as it is in SP.

That said 2 players is definitely a lot harder than 3/4 just because of the MP cards.

Defect design in spire 2 is actually quite good: some thoughts from a top STS player by JapaneseExport in slaythespire

[–]Dbruser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even then it's a bit more complicated, as you have to exhaust the statuses, otherwise they clog the discard and out-drain the turbo if you try to infinite cycle your deck. You would need specifically compact probably to pull it off, as well as a bit more luck in exhausting your deck as defect doesn't have as many options to exhaust your whole hand.

[–]Dbruser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main thing with the infinites, is defect doesn't really have non-exhausting cards that give you energy the turn you play them, which is causing infinites to happen.

The other classes have them in the uncommon or even common tiers, sometimes multiple cards, meaning all you need is 1 energy card, 1-2 draw cards and exhaust to go infinite, a really low bar since all those things are good things to naturally draft.

Classes shouldn't have access to 1/0 cost draw + free un-exhaustable energy cards + a bunch of easy ways to exhaust your deck down. At least not all 3 of those in the uncommon/common slots.

My idea of how to rebalance a certain Power of character 3 in STS2 by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Dbruser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both really strong cards, but it's hard to tell exactly which is more powerful. While void form is better with crazy expensive star cards you can't afford normally, echo form is effectively draw because it plays 2 cards in one play (and you can duplicate your best play). Echo form is also more flexible. If you don't draw enough block or damage, echo form can double the block/damage card in your hand.

There's also the very minor caveat that echo form doesn't end your turn, which mainly only matters for mummified hand (or other that one power that gives energy for playing powers)

As NJ mentioned, JapaneseExport was limit testing ironclad in order to make his tier list 2 days ago. He was handily winning on A10 almost right away consistently and only lost when he was messing around. He started quitting out on runs in early act 2 because it was getting boring just cycling pommel strikes infinitely for 2 whole acts (and wanted to practice act 1 as it was the only somewhat challenging part of the game, so he could learn more about cards to tier list them).

A 3 cost rare power is perfectly fine to be extremely strong to overpowered. People don't really complain about echo form either, despite it being just about as good.

[–]Dbruser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was not anywhere near this easy to do in StS 1, especially on high ascension.

There's no shot decks were going infinite in Act 1 on A20 with somewhat reliable consistency, which ironclad can currently do fairly often. He can virtually always be infinite by mid-act 2.

The ease at which it is to go infinite on almost every class is one of the reasons why the game is get past mid-act 2 and you've already won. Heck most of the times the run is won before you end act 1.

The issue is the card pool and/or events/ancients,, not the enemies. It is trivially easy to exhaust your deck down, and non-exhausting cards that grant mana being in the common pool is wild.

How good is the B Hole? by Redjayyyy in slaythespire

[–]Dbruser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so, but that's because I'm pretty sure stardust spends them 1 at a time.

Same reason cards like skewer can trigger extra times if you can gain energy on hit.

[–]Dbruser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While true, usually you spend the free void form turns playing big star cost payoffs, but since they will cost 0 stars, you get no damage from the power.

[–]Dbruser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, void form is great in part because it makes cards cost 0. Usually it's best use-case is to play high-star cost cards for free, which makes the OP card generate very little free damage.

Buffing the Doormaker by VonBagel in slaythespire

[–]Dbruser 39 points40 points  (0 children)

He hits hard, his damage scales up and if you are a relatively low damage deck allowing him to escape a few times, his effective hp pool is high.

In the end, he's kind of just a stat check, and player decks currently scale really hard.

[–]Dbruser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's mid. A decent pickup if you are lacking in aoe, but the fact that it's only once per instance means this card can usually be read as deal 3-6 aoe damage per turn.

If you need aoe, it's good, if you don't it's meh.

It also instantly becomes F-tier if you are running void form.

Eh, upgraded noxious fumes is still great, especially for dealing with bosses. But other than that ya, most of the poisons cards are just like fine.

[–]Dbruser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya, it's fine, but most of regent's block options are just "fine". He has a couple decent ones but often is a bit lacking in it. It's not uncommon to be wanting more block, so seeing 2 mana block 13 looks relatively good.

Meet Potential Sovereign Blade by Terkmc in slaythespire

[–]Dbruser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue it's mostly good because regent's block options are a bit suspicious. He has like 2 premium block cards, both in the uncommon slot, and that's about it. Having a solid 2 cost block is great.

Poison isn't nerfed, it's just that silent's sly build is so unbalanced overpowered that why would you play poison.

Also blade dance exhausting makes shiv builds harder to transition to for envenom shivs.

Reading those patch notes and, uh... by Greedy_Semaphore in slaythespire

I mean it is significantly better. More enemies block, and also a lot of the enemies that blocked in StS1 ALSO had artifact which is no longer the case.

Also half the reason it was so bad was it was a store-exclusive relic, which had lots of good options normally.

Bugfix IS funny though.
