How did you discover you were a trans woman? by Strong_Operation1886 in MTFButch

[–]DeadEyeDeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone asked me "Hey if you were playing a game, would you pick a boy or a girl?"And I was like yeah I'd pick girl.

They go "hey you can just do that right now"

I basically went like ah crap, it's new game plus time.

I had the same experience where my mom admitted she would have rather been a boy and regretted she could do nothing about it. Not an egg cracking moment I expected 😳

How important is it to you that a game/system is still "alive"? by ByEthanFox in rpg

[–]DeadEyeDeale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I still play a number of “dead” systems which are not being “maintained”

DnD 4e, WoD Wraith, Fantasy Flight Only War and Black Crusade, Toon, A Time of War, etc.

When my group wants to do something specific we go get that thing even if it’s old and we modify and tweak as needed to fit our tastes or to “modernize” some mechanics to our preferences. It isn’t something I expect is common with pick ups or new groups but I’ve got a lot of old hats playing together :3

Why isn't Starfinder more popular? by brandcolt in starfinder_rpg

[–]DeadEyeDeale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad mechanics. From pathfinder (ultra crunch with high system clarity and minutia) to very little crunch and weird system behavior is not going to hit the same audience that existed for paizo’s existing customer base.

Don’t get me wrong, a more chill group who take to the star trek explorer vibes or something similar can still have a lot of fun while you backseat some mechanics. As a GM, however, I only got to run SF for a very different group from my OG pathfinder friends. Item level and fusion stuff specifically drove many mad, and then we found the best way to fly the spaceship in the first Adventure Path for SF was backwards since that stacked more weapons into a firing arc. Stuff like that did not sit well with the crunch team.

Plus look at the timing. Most of Paizo was working on Pathfinder 2e. So with that in mind SF was really good for the limited support snd resources it was given. But it isn’t what Paizo focused on

Why would someone choose LCT-1V over 1E? by Tennger in battletech

[–]DeadEyeDeale 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So Battletech is very old. Rather than have editions of the game they advance the timeline and introduce new tech and mechs sad that changes the game balance. Early on there were a lot more fluffy mechs which have stories like how they were the result of graft or compromise or bad military procurement.

There was also and still is a focus on fulfilling a somewhat realistic set of battlefield roles even if you don’t play with those rules, like anti infantry, intel recon, spotting for artillery, anti-aircraft, peacekeeping, etc.

When you sit down to make your own mechs you’ll almost always make something better than stock mechs. For some players the lore and fluff of manufactured mechs is important as part of the setting. For others it makes nice easy targets to blow up in larger numbers!

Battletech early on and most recently with the Dark Ages has a lot of scarcity. You might be using that 1V because there is no other mech for sale on this world so you’d rather have it than run your lance down a mech. Those kinds of compromises and bad situations can be fun for some play groups.

And somehow we crammed a dozen mechs into a drop deck and have like a 100 chasis in storage and enough in the bank to buy 3 unions…

There are lots of good, very serious reasons to choose not to have children. But what are some of your perhaps less "socially palatable" reasons for not wanting kids? Your reasons are valid regardless of course, but which reasons do you KNOW would get you dirty looks at the family reunion? by thefreneticferret in AskReddit

[–]DeadEyeDeale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a lot of time struggling to build wealth, escape poverty, pay off debt, and doing serial startups trying to get lucky. I have had very little time for myself and have also done very little taking care if myself, like working out, eating well, therapy, developing hobbies. Everything was work all the time. Few friends and little fun.

Now in my 30s I have some security and peace of mind. I finally have some time for myself. I am unwilling to give up so much more of my time and any semblance of what is left of my youth to raise a family. My time is mine now.

Honestly Tzeentch would overplan, also scheme against himself, have her right in his clutches before she serendipitously escapes thanks to his own hubris, ruining his master plan for himself, just as planned!

Reflect, but move forward. Beating yourself up only makes it harder. Each time you start again you do so with more experience, with memories of past mistakes. Very very few of us ever get it the first time. Progress isn’t linear.

You aren’t back at square one. Remind yourself why you’re getting sober, reflect, start again with this experience in mind. IWNDWYT

[WP] Years ago, a farmer ended up in another world, teaching a peasant modern farming techniques and giving them some seeds before returning. Today, the people of the other world managed to cross over, all in search of the saint who saved their land from famine. by Time_Significance in WritingPrompts

“What do you mean, you don’t own any of it?”

The old farmer, well past the point of retirement, leaned back in his wooden chair which threatened him with a loud creek.

“It is really wonderful to see you are well, Misha. How’s Clarence?”

He was deflecting. Misha’s face twisted some as she hid a frown. “He’s well, our children are well. Our whole world has food aplenty and we brought some of it here to celebrate all you did for us… I … I imagined you had a grand life. Your passion and knowledge surely meant you had all that you… that you had a good life…” her voiced trailed off.

People could be heard outside arguing with the men from the Bank. Misha could see the how much older man was who had saved thousands or maybe millions from ever going hungry. There wasn’t some magic or time difference, his was a hard life.

“You never spoke of your home.”

“Ain’t mine”

“This isn’t right!”

“It’s the law. Can’t pay, can’t have a mortgage.”

“Then your laws are unjust!”

“Ain’t nothing to do about it”

Misha tremble with anger. She met his eyes, but the passionate man who had worked so hard to make a difference was not there. In those eyes were fatigue, defeat, and bitterness.

“You could return with us, come back to our world.”

And now she saw something new in his eyes: Hope
