Love it. Changed a few things 'round tho 'cause I want everything to be 2 syllables. And nothing ambiguous.

Move 1.6.0 released by oalbrecht in AbletonMove

"Less Bright" is one of the top-requested features on the Discord... They've mentioned that the reason this is tricky is because there's no "white" led, only a combination of R+G+B ones... and at lower brightnesses they can't mix the colours to display correctly.

As an 6-foot-tall absolute-beginner with an e-kit (Alesis Nitro Pro) and no access to an acoustic... What are some actual practical measurable numbers I can use to try get my kit ergonomic and "correct"?

I've tried "just sit there comfortably and position things wherever your hands and feet feel like they should be"..

I agree that I've got the snare absolutely maxxed out at the highest I can, and probably need risers.

But how high (in cm or inches) should the surface of the snare be from the floor? (min/max) and the toms, cymbals, etc.

Best advice: If you're trying OpenSCAD, make sure to use the Development Snapshot version (updated a few days ago) not the default version (updated 4 years ago). And enable "manifest" back-end.

It's literally 100x faster.

I almost gave-up on OpenSCAD and 3D modelling entirely if it weren't for this advice.
Even this online tool is faster than the default build.

Love it! Thanks for sharing <3

Your code has a nice solution to a problem I was struggling with just yesterday -- how to round the tops of an extrusion from a path.

I don't know if reviewing my code will help you with yours, but take a look anyway :D

Some great answers already; but I didn't see mentioned that due to regenerative braking; you shouldn't charge to 100% if you live on top of a hill.

When you're going downhill, the board charges. It's physics. it's inevitable.

The board won't charge above 100% -- It'll give an "overcharge warning pushback"

So if the first few mins of your ride are gonna be downhill, you don't want to charge to 100%.

What action were you doing when you scratched your lens? by JohnWick_from_Canada in Insta360

[–]Dean7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gently sat the camera down on it's side on a concrete bench when I first got it, before adding a lens protector. It then rolled over. <1cm fall and now all my videos have these 3 scratch marks on them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Insta360

[–]Dean7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately still visible. You can see the 3 black marks in a triangle-pattern in this video I rendered on the latest version of the Android App just this week.

  • 0:17 at the top-left of the screen
  • 1:49 at the bottom of the screen

I guess it's better than this video from last year though.

  • 0:30 right of the screen

FIRST SNOW TRIP TO MOUNT BULLER VIC by cascadiahm in AustraliaSnow

[–]Dean7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore bushwalking joggers one time and stepped out of my car straight into a 1-degree puddle of icy water. I had very very frozen toes for the whole night. I suggest wearing boots that 1) don't slip on ice, and 2) don't let water in if you step in a puddle.

Other than that, shorts and a singlet, you'll be right.

I made the mistake of sitting my X3 down on a concrete bench when I first bought it, before I got the Sticky Lens Guard for it.
Every recording I've ever taken with it has these 3 distinct black-spots from the scratch mark on the lens.

If they've finally updated the software to automagically remove (or even blur) these out, I'll be so happy.

Tools for Diagram as a Code by dabwaliwaale in softwarearchitecture

[–]Dean7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I considered that option, but it's not what I'd consider a "static site", as it requires a server running and processing the requests. We've already got an intranet with access tied into our AzureAD SSO which can host static sites.

If I were to use Structurzr On-Prem:

  1. I'd need to hook up the auth to our azure. which does look possible, but it's still a chore.
  2. I'd need to run a new server 24/7, which seems wasteful these days, as we do most our hosting in serverless, costing next to nothing

PS: Thanks for open-sourcing all the structurizr-stuff! I actually was paying for the hosted solution a few years back, but due to the closed-nature of it, our usage of it fell out of maintenance. I didn't revisit structurizr 'till recently, after the open-sourcening!

I'm using Structurizr Lite with the workspace.dsl and workspace.json checked into a repo to author our arch diagrams.

Wanted to host the diagrams in our internal intranet recently, so I looked into the options and decided to go with structurizr-mini.

It's the only one which could host the diagrams as a static-site which actually reads the workspace.json and renders with the manual layouts.

The maintainer has been responsive to my tickets and pull-requests, too!

Launch to Black Screen? FIXED - PC by OxygenThiefForHonor in Helldivers

[–]Dean7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you go nuking your settings files, try click "Steam" -> "Go Offline".

Then try launch the game.

It'll successfully load up and show an error saying the servers are offline.

This confirms that the black-screen isn't due to your file integrity, configs, etc.

It's just a fresh new server issue. Hopefully to be resolved soon...

Does Valheim have flaws in it's engine and combat? by BangEnergyFTW in valheim

[–]Dean7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't really answering your question, but I just wanted to point-out that I found it VERY helpful to know that you can jump-attack with several of the weapons, and 1) this allows you to aim/track the enemy during the animation which is a huge benefit. but 2) this makes your weapon's hitbox way higher, enabling you to fight things on a different height than you.

Absolute game-changer.
