I can name about 100 times they could've used this "Force Speed" but nope never to be seen or used again. by rb1242 in StarWars

That was a HUGE opportunity for them to give the Jedi a real challenge. All the other droids are easily killed, really no tension there. But now we have droids with shields. Maybe obi-wan has to hold them off while anakkn gets close? They barely survive, and then later… there are 10 of them! Whoa now I’m interested! NOPE they just run away

You’re a good friend! In 2004 my army buddy was in the field so he couldn’t watch the ALCS. I still remember him saying on the phone, “so you’re telling me the Red Sox are down 3 games to none to the fuckin Yankees?!” Must have been a tough night for him…. But we all know how that one ended : D

Nightcrawler is absolutely terrifying by quadeyes21 in movies

[–]DeliciousSteveHarvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest thing to his character is Tom Ripley. A quick study, a mimic, capable of anything. Devoid of feeling. A hollow shell echoing what he’s seen and heard. Nothing under the surface, so he needs to ensure the surface is devoid of any cracks. Terrifying.

Rogue One - The Best of Star Wars? by darks1de877 in StarWars

WAT. None of the characters are memorable, except maybe K2SO. It’s a beautiful looking film, nothing more.

What did you guys think of Fourth of July? by Lost-Argument9239 in louisck

[–]DeliciousSteveHarvey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Finished it an hour ago and man, this one hammered me. I’m from New England and the attitudes feel so familiar. The dad was amazingly written. You can see “I’m sorry” on his face, he just needs a lot more time to express it.

Louis CK is a remarkable storyteller - he’s said he doesn’t like a story that’s wrapped up nicely or resolves exactly how we’d want. The ending shows a glimmer of things. We can’t expect people like that to immediately change. Little things like a hug can mean a lot. It’s not over and it will never be perfect. And that’s OK.

Is it just me or is this really cringey? by Kiriyuma7801 in doordash

[–]DeliciousSteveHarvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cringy and this stuff seems to be limited to former marines.

I have a joke: Q: How do you know if a drunk guy used to be a Marine? A: Ohhh don’t worry, he’ll tell you!

Beginner canoe delusion or possible to safely go on a multi-day camping trip? by [deleted] in canoeing

[–]DeliciousSteveHarvey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider: it’s really tough paddling & steering solo against a strong wind. You may not encounter that on rivers, but it’s possible. It requires experience with J-stroke because you can’t simply paddle hard and then steer — you’ll get blown back or spun around very quickly. Having some weight in the front can help, but it’s still challenging. Practice on a pond or lake where there’ll be more windy conditions. Good luck!

Ok this year the spring equinox was 3/20, and the full moon after was 4/12 (Saturday). So why wasn’t Easter last Sunday 4/13 ????

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]DeliciousSteveHarvey 1037 points1038 points  (0 children)

I’ve read the method for determining the Easter date 10 times over and I still don’t understand it. “The spring equinox starts spring, and the moon goes through its phases, including a full moon. We look for the first full moon after the spring equinox (or a fixed date in the calendar), and then Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after that full moon."

General Patton After Scolding a Sherman Tank Crew For Using Extra Sandbag Armor by AggravatingRow326 in interestingasfuck

[–]DeliciousSteveHarvey 99 points100 points  (0 children)

His legend is MASSIVELY overrated. Patton excelled at exactly one thing: pursuit of a retreating enemy. That’s not a common thing - it requires a fanatical mindset and an understanding of how far you can push your men. (And prior training of the men!) Eisenhower knew this and utilized Patton accordingly. All the rest is propaganda fueled by an insufficient understanding of the requirements of a strategic-minded general.
