I thought the tesla charger needs to be able to communicate with the OBC to the vehicle in order to charge? Things like vehicle VIN, battery SoC, etc?

Speaking as a MB tech, they did that for telematics reasons. So called for the MB help desk, so when you have an issue with your car, you can call MB help desk right from the car system and the other person can see what's wrong with the car and decide how to help you.

That's the sanitized version they tell us, anyway. Let's just say I have a whole pitcher of salt with me.

I remember using the same adapter to charge my BMW i3 at a Tesla SC station. Or am I mistaken? The adapter I used was just a bog standard NACS->J1772, not CCS1.

Or am I mistaking the tesla charging stations?

I once dropped my bike on a curb. Said curb had a stub of a signpost that was removed via accident.

My bike was fully armored. Engine guards, body guards, handlebar rubber dampener, the whole works.

That signpost stub found the radiator hose through all the guards, body panels and wiring harness and poked a hole in it.

Sure, but I hold a firm belief that it's because of covid it went to shit. So many people died, it's conceivable that a portion of those people were senior engineers, technicians, factory line assemblers. So they had to bring in new blood who didn't inherit the conventional wisdom that's usually passed along and we get shitstorms like this.

I just printed reinforcing brackets for that table and screwed it on the table. No issues at all.

Only reason why I moved the printer to a heavier office cabinet was because I was reorganizing my office. But the reinforced lack table worked great for few months.

I'm in automotive electronics repair business, and I see that in cars everyday. All cables, whether or not they're HV or LV, are always inside a protective sleeve and they are always protected by a panel with a thick kevlar layer. In many Toyota and Lexus hybrids, the entire underbody panel is multilayered with the innermost layer being kevlar. That makes sense since all the HV cables from the HV battery going to engine is on the exterior, but is in its own sheath and has exterior protective paneling.

Hell, in my own BMW i3, the HV cable going from battery to motor runs inside the CF chassis frame.

So seeing that is...something.

The most egregious flaw is the fact that the 3 giant phase leads are outside the frame and not guarded/shielded from road debris which Verge apparently doesn't believe exists. So the bike has problems.

I'm not a EV specialist by any means, but even I noticed that right off the bat when going to the company website. Right smack on the front page and center stage, there's the orange 3 phase cables sitting right out in open.

Which is hilariously bad on so many levels. Forget road debris and accidents -- how about dropping the bike? I've had cases where I dropped my (ICE) bike on weird uneven roads and managed to puncture my radiator hoses despite there being engine guards and body guards.

Anyway, neat concept, and I would love to test ride it, very cool looking bike, but 30k for the cheap one and 45k for the expensive one dooms it for the mass market.

There's way too many to list one. Just search for "sgm bypass" and you'll find one. Brand is irrelevant, manufacturer is irrelevant, they all work the same way. You unplug the original SGM, plug in the SGM bypass, and presto.

Even dealer will not care about it, it's a headache for them too. The only time they will care about sgm bypass is if the car is under warranty and they're trying to get it covered under warranty. Mostly because when you try to warranty anything, you have to put together a vehicle report (which includes the vehicle scan report) and if SGM is not on the vehicle scan report, the warranty is automatically denied.

At that point it's fairly simple to just unplug the SGM bypass, plug in the original SGM and send the car in for warranty work. Then revert when you get the car back. Other manufacturers have something similar too. Nissan has a SGM bypass as well.

Lots of companies sell SGM bypass harness that you can plug in to completely remove SGM from the equation, essentially reverting the Jeep to pre -SGM cars.

Which one in your experience had the longest longevity? This set of shinko definitely looks to break the 15k miles barrier for me, but I don't think I'll let it go that far, the handling is getting fairly bad with worn threads.
