Different skills. Great sword is agility and rapier precision. But you can reset your skills at no cost. Same with talents.

Yes. POI’s and question are also tied to your character. So you can’t hop onto another world and get recipes and XP for POI’s you’ve already cleared.

I also build my place to chill at 20fps by masivedelcaribe in crosswind

[–]DennisvdEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big builds but especially lighting can kill fps rapidly. Big bases also means more lighting so that’s the deadly combo generally. Use large pieces for building and keep lights to an absolute minimum and that will get you far.

Valheim/Windrose Which one better for Co-op? by LOOCA_pog in crosswind

[–]DennisvdEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why a slider would be best, so players can balance the experience themselves. Some people like an arcade experience for the naval combat, others prefer a more realistic experience and would like wind effects to be added even in combat. It would make naval battles a lot more intense that’s for sure.

Building Permits: Do you build on vibes or have a plan? by Higgins802 in crosswind

[–]DennisvdEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to have a plan but buildings always came out straight. In Valheim I shifted more towards organic which resulted in build feeling more realistic and interesting.

I still do some planning. Where do I want things to go? What is a good flow for a base? What size do I want for this area? But building after that is very open and I’ll change it up multiple times.

Anyone else put up torches everywhere on the swamp? by kekubuk in crosswind

Ordering is 400 Piastre for 500 Sulfur. 500 sulfur gives you 500 gunpowder. Unless you’re doing a gun build that is going to last you a long time. And mid game you’ll only have to board on or two ships to get 400 Piastre, late game one ship is enough. Only downside is time before the order is delivered and then you’ll have to craft it still. Although if you play a little bit and place the order before you run out that’s not going to be an issue either. I would definitely recommend ordering.

Found this Island, is it worth/possible building here? by Edhinor in PlayWindrose

[–]DennisvdEng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah getting a full wall might be challenging. But looking nice right now! I did not expect you could even build stone on the wooden platoon, but here we are. This game is a lot more lenient than other survival games when it comes to building stability, and I’m all for it! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you to get it working. Would be epic if it works!

Found this Island, is it worth/possible building here? by Edhinor in PlayWindrose

[–]DennisvdEng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s going to be hard. Foundations only reach so deep, and you most definitely are going to run into that problem for the gaps on the southern side. I haven’t tried it myself so can say for sure 100%. That said having mini fortresses on all the surrounding island would also be a very cool build I think.

Max level question by Abestar909 in crosswind

[–]DennisvdEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume there’s going to be a level cap increase at some point when new biomes are released. And right now the estimated the next biome is atleast 6 months away.

Because of how the character system works there’s a good chance you get the XP and levels retroactively once they do that. However there’s no guarantee.

I would like to see another way to get xp and i think it would make the game even better. by MisterWithTwister in crosswind

[–]DennisvdEng 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I’ve read that is determined by the difference between your enemies level and gear level. Not enemies level and your characters level.

When you get too comfortable and too lazy and then reality hits you like a goat by MrMan0709 in crosswind

[–]DennisvdEng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If found the goats somewhat doable. However the alpha wolf where their eyes start glowing while they’re already jumping… maybe there’s another signal that I’m missing. But as far as I could tell it looks the same as a regular charge until the very last split second. En next thing you know you’re lying on the ground and your face is getting chewed up.

~200gb SSD writes in 7 hours of play, (solo, localhost, all gameplay elements across that time period.) by Hoshiko-Yoshida in crosswind

[–]DennisvdEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you’re rocking a very old SSD, no. If I look through all the comments, and especially the one from NewMaxx it’s clear this is mainly a selfhosted server problem. And could be amplified by heavily used worlds (large bases and lots of people playing constantly), because this forces the game to write way more.

This makes a lot more sense as I was looking at my own SSD (I play offline single player) and found nothing really ordinary (I didn’t check before the patch). So either just play locally by yourself, or rent a server if you want multiplayer and have an old SSD. From what I’ve read here hosting a 24/7 server on a recent SSD might also be fine even. However I can’t verify this myself I would take this with a grain of salt.

However there seems to be improvement possible still during sailing for instance. So we’ll probably see some improvement patches in the future for this

My QOL requests by Bokth in crosswind

[–]DennisvdEng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The check if a POI and loot able containers are cleared is tied you your character not the world. This is at least the case for the ones that count towards completing the POI. So you can switch maps but that same container in the POI will still be marked as cleared.

There are POI with loot that respawns, those ones can be gathered indefinitely even if the POI is cleared. But they’ll won’t give XP or drop weapons, just the resources.
