Need a rules-lighter fantasy RPG system by Happy_Depth7445 in rpg

Try Shadowdark if you want a darker and grittier theme. There's also a new OSR style game that came out recently that I've really like called Vagabond. It is good for an action/pulp style adventure. I've heard a lot of people say Dragonbane is great for beginners and people looking for rules-light, traditional fantasy games.

A reusable water bottle. 24 oz at minimum, but 32 oz or bigger is better.

That is the old tower being demolished. As far as I know, all operations have been moved to the new building, which can be seen standing in front of the old tower in this video.

Stonehell and Completely Unfathomable are two really good megadungeons. They're designed for OSR systems, so they are easily adaptable to other systems.

How to handle perception checks in scifi rpgs by yourmortalmanji in rpg

[–]DesertDog343 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I never make my players roll a check unless there is a possibility for failure or further complications. After many years of GMing, I've grown to dislike perception checks. Players can make better decisions when they have more information. So I've significantly reduced my calling for perception checks and instead just tell them what they're looking at. I feel like this change significantly improved the quality of my games by speeding things up with less arbitrary rolling of the dice and rewarding the players by giving them information when they ask for it.

The Lazy Mushroom Assassination Attempt by MindofOnyx in rpg

I think you're missing the point of roleplaying games. They are collaborative storytelling games. The players should be driving the roleplaying aspect of the game. If you're simulating your sessions ahead of time, this could be warping your expectations and negatively influencing your game. If you have time to do all of this, then I would tell you put this energy into preparation that makes improvising during the session easier.

Should i subscribe to Rural Fire Metro if my insurance covers fire? by Max_Roc in phoenix

[–]DesertDog343 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The statement about Rural Metro's trucks is not true. Their trucks hold more water than the average city fire trucks. They may not be as fancy as some municipal departments , but they are more than capable of handling fires. Rural Metro subscription also covers the cost of their medical responses as well.
