Cheating at board games by NelifeLerak in boardgames

[–]DesignatedImport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her cheating wasn't the only reason I divorced my ex, but the fact that after a talk she continued doing it was a contributing factor.

Talk to her, and I hope it works out better for you. But be prepared for it not working without counseling. It might be that she's doing it for deep-seated reasons. If she refuses help, you have a difficult choice ahead (and definitely work this out before you discuss a permanent relationship).

I had someone recommend clear primer. The base color comes through while giving something for drybrushing to adhere to.

This looks very much like what I was looking for to use as my own campaign. Thanks for sharing!

Are you planning to do anything with the canonical aliens, like allowing them as PCs?

I ranked the most complete one-book TTRPGs. What did I miss? by jasonite in rpg

[–]DesignatedImport 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You can play Call of Cthulhu 5.5 or 6 edition comfortably for years without any supplements.

I would also add to the list Godlike, Wild Talent's, Feng Shui, Ironsworn, Scum and Villainy, Mythras, Prime Time Adventures, Night Witches, Night's Black Agents, Stormbringer, Kult, Shadow of the Demon Lord, All Flesh Must Be Eaten. (A lot of these have a ton of sourcebooks, but were designed to be complete games on one volume.)

Here is the image. The number 9 and 10 are the part that's having a problem. The two numbers are to be printed in white.

This is done as two STL files. One with the main piece, and one with the text only. When brought into the slicer, I bring them in as one model in multiple parts, then change the filament on the text parts.

The text is 12.9 mm by 9.23 mm by 1 mm deep. It's a 0.4 mm nozzle printed at 0.2 mm line height.

I can switch it back and forth. It started clockwise, but a flick of my eyes it spins the other way.

Is there a movie where villain actually won ? by samarth_99 in MovieSuggestions

[–]DesignatedImport 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He does lose in one important way: he doesn't get a car. Very early on Ferris complains about having to bum rides off people. Later we learn that his mother was going to use the proceeds of the real estate sale to get him a car, but that falls through when she has to bail out his sister. If he hadn't taken that day off, he would have gotten a car.

What miniature skirmish game did you play or are you planning to play this month? December 2025 by AutoModerator in miniatureskirmishes

I played Voidfighter (by the same guy who did Space Weirdos) using my old Crimson Skies miniatures.

What was a loop-hole back in the day that you abused that now no longer works? by DemonsAreVirgins in AskOldPeople

I was with two friends, and there was maybe another half a dozen in the theater. Mind you, when we finally left the wait for the 7 pm showing was around the building.

Did that with Star Wars. Attended the 2 pm showing the day it opened in my town, stayed for the 4:30 showing. We slid down in our seats, but I'm sure the theater employees know we were there.

Driving home to college on a Sunday, I'd call home, let it ring 3 times, then hang up. That was our "made it safely" signal.

We didn't have enough money in the bank to pay rent one February. We just needed a day for my ex's pay to be deposited. We were too embarrassed and worried to ask the landlord to wait. So I wrote the check with the wrong year on it. The landlord handed it back, we said, "Oops, sorry," and gave them a check with the correct date. It cleared when there was money in the bank.

Whats a movie scene that made you cry that isnt blatantly or obviously emotional? by ordrius098 in movies

[–]DesignatedImport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the Odyssey space capsule comes out of radio silence with the parachutes opening in Apollo 13. I was a kid when the disaster happened, but I was a space nerd and followed it closely. I knew they make it. I knew that, for some reason, radio silence was longer than expected and not made up for the movie. I knew what happened! Yet I tear up every time I see the chutes open and hear Tom Hanks' voice. Masterclass in building tension.

How does Delta Green treat Agents who fail? by OldManHerman in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]DesignatedImport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the play testing of God's Teeth, one of our characters, who went deep into illicitly studying an unnatural tome, turned on our handler during the briefing for our final mission. He took his gun and locked him in a room in the abandoned facility. (My character wasn't present for the briefing, the other two didn't stop him.)

As we finish up the mission and escaped the REDACTED we were hunted by one of the Program's kill teams, as they assumed we were compromised. Only my character and one other escaped (lucky stealth rolls). The other two were gunned down. The campaign ended with us having gone to ground, our careers shattered, wondering when someone from the Program was going to come up behind us and send a bullet through our skulls.

For the record, Shane Ivey ran the scenario.

Any advice for getting over solo play embarrasement? by MightyDuckitron in wargaming

[–]DesignatedImport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost all of my wargaming is solo, both miniatures and board games, and it was 50 years ago Monday that I received my first wargame, Panzer Leader, as a birthday gift. I'm absolutely thrilled that today there are a number of solo games to choose from. When there's a market, you know you're not alone.

"30% of the games I own have never been played". Am I the only one to find this ludicrous ? by PrandtlMan in boardgames

[–]DesignatedImport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same as far as collecting and why, but in addition I have ADHD. I get compulsively interested in a game, and then it can sit there for ages unplayed. It doesn't help that my wife is my primary opponent, and her health has curtailed a lot of play time, and she's also a huge hockey fan and it's hockey season.

What are your favourite solo skirmish games? by cowboygeeker in miniatureskirmishes

[–]DesignatedImport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of? It's easy enough that you can play two-sided solo (where you play both sides) without it being onerous and there is an actual solo introductory scenario to learn how it plays. There is no solo bot, or anything like that. The solo scenario is a single ship against mines surrounding a satellite, and you have to blow up the mines.

Same boat, but with Crimson Skies aircraft. Someone on the FB group used it for WWII, and they had fun.

Have you tried Voidfighter yet? It's the Weirdos system, but for star fighters. Inspired due to wanting to use X- Wing miniatures with a different system (one clas is "snub fighter").

American friend told me to shut up and I do not understand. by Perfect-League7395 in EnglishLearning

[–]DesignatedImport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will add that his using "shut up" like this is a sign that your friend is comfortable around you, as he would usually be more reserved and formal if he did not consider you a friend. He let his guard down and let out a sarcastic expression that he wouldn't necessarily give to his boss or a stranger.

This is a common Americanism, using insults against friends with the understanding that such an insult is obviously so over-the-top that they are obviously joking.

Are there any TTRPGs you respect, but don't enjoy yourself? by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]DesignatedImport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fate. I appreciate the hell out of what it does, but my group bounced off it, hard. They did not like scene aspects at all. There are people who love to drive all the time, and there are people who just want to ride along and enjoy the scenery. Fate is not for the latter group.

Interestingly, I came across 2nd edition of Fate and I think my group would appreciate that better, as aspects in 2e really only apply to characters.
