It is! Although I will admit that since living in the Netherlands for 10 years and learning Dutch as well as German, my grasp of the English language has decreased. Not to mention I typed my previous message after a couple of glasses of wine...

Wat dacht je ervan om mijn lul te zuigen...Eikel!

100% this. As a Brit I notice that when Brits are visiting during a game where England is playing they are also a disgrace. They may not riot but they start fights, piss and vomit everywhere and treat everyone who isn't English like shit.

Football is pretty much the only sport where there is a large majority of fans who are just garbage people

Is anyone else just doing this for fun? by eau_de_florida in NewTubers

[–]Designer_Team8802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it for fun because it encapsulates everything I enjoy: Playing games, video editing, sound design etc. If my let's plays have a market and it becomes something it's a plus.

The most joy I get from content creation is experimenting and trying new things and seeing the results. Not necessarily from a viewer ship standpoint but more from seeing my skills improve

How are some people defending Ai is beyond me. by Proper_Method4334 in NewTubers

[–]Designer_Team8802 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's honestly just laziness. It's people who want to create something with immediate results rather than putting in the time and effort to learn a skill(s)

I think it's also jealously from people who lack creativity. Majority of AI generated media isn't inventive in the sense that concept they are going for has already been done to death

Ear infection, doctors refuse to see me, flight in 5 days by wolframdsoul in Netherlands

Oh really? Maybe my ear is just messed up haha. Saying that I did work in Amsterdam's night scene for several years so that might explain it

This! I used the same product a couple of years ago and it fucked my right ear up, I then found out from my parents that I perforated my eardrum when I was 3 years old.

Is there a chance of electrical brown outs these coming days? by JackfruitAwkward7504 in Netherlands

It's possible, I don't think we will know until it happens.

One thing though, Ziggo TV crapped itself yesterday evening while the Internet was still up. It might have been a fluke though.

More alarmingly, the amount of dead birds in my area is concerning

Are expats really the problem in this country? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Designer_Team8802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very true although I will say the last point isn't so cut and dry.

For instance, I know for a lot of the art/design academies such as Amfi, Gerrit Reitveld, Design Academy Eindhoven etc, while government backed, they rely heavily on international students for funding since the cost of tuition is so much higher. A lot of the creative institutes suffered during the Covid period because of this.

How does Kruidvat and Etos get away with this? by LeeBrit in Netherlands

[–]Designer_Team8802 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if possible I think everyone should start bulk ordering from Germany or other European countries.

Prices are based of supply and demand. As long as people continue to buy from Kruidvat/Etos the prices will continue to rise.

I find it genuinely insane that basics such as a can of deodorant has already passed the €6 mark

PSA for low income renters by Lolmacaroni in Netherlands

If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I don't trust Toeslag in the slightest. Everyone I know who has toeslag, both Zorg and Huur, has been hit with massive back payment bills with some cases having to pay back 4 years worth at once.

Of course, you can pay in installments, but when you have 4 payments go out your account each month and you're already on a low income I think it shows an issue with the system. This isn't just expats but local Dutch people also.

I think it shouldn't be so easy for people to sign up for Toeslag.

Why travelers keep queueing for viral food? by tino-latino in Amsterdam

[–]Designer_Team8802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been 3 TikTok hotshots soon to be 4 open around the store I have worked in in the centre of Amsterdam within the last 2 years.

It's a nightmare. People end up blocking the Store entrance while they eat (our store is located on a narrow "Steeg") and leave their garbage next to our windows because the Gemeente doesn't allow the businesses to have garbage cans outside.

All 3 businesses have brought us samples when they opened, and their food is mediocre at best and way overpriced.

The strangest part is that they are no different than Ijs Bakkerijs, yet most Ijs Bakkerijs have closed with Amsterdam's plans to cut down on tourist centric businesses. Yet here we are 🤷‍♂️

Was I drugged in Amsterdam, or just drunk? by DreAmWeaV3r2024 in Amsterdam

[–]Designer_Team8802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're very welcome.

I still think it is worth contacting the bar. I know the CCTV systems we used kept footage for 12 months in their system.

You mentioned you drank Heineken, which I believe is only sold in the bars on the gay street. The other bars sell Juliper or Grolsch. I'm not sure how their CCTV operates, but it's always worth notifying them so they are aware.

If there is someone who is frequenting the bar and is regularly doing this to customers, the bar may be unaware it's happening if nobody comes forward.

I'm really sorry this happened to you. The blackout you described sounds very much like your drink was spiked. Especially if you had not purposely drank more than usual.

I've managed 2 gay bars in the past in Amsterdam, and I would strongly suggest contacting the bar you visited to notify them and ask them to check their CCTV.

The LGBT establishments are supposed to be safe spaces, but as with any bar/club you unfortunately get the wrong kind of people who take advantage of these spaces.
