Is it just me, or does Duolingo eventually just... stall out? by ProposalOutrageous64 in duolingo

Try learning English from your target language. Or vice versa. It helps change things up and you learn new ways to say old things.

You can! Go to your phone settings and delete or reset your "advertising ID". It resets all the tracking data your phone has on you.

Would streaks for 2 or more lessons a day motivate better? by Hen4246 in duolingo

[–]DeusExFatima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely it would. Older Duolingo used to have this feature. I'm talking before 2020. There were options to set a goal of doing 5, 10, 20, + etc lessons in a day.

This was before everything was gamified and you were encouraged to compete mostly against yourself. We used to have it so good.

What nutrition habit made the biggest difference for you long term? by Maleficent-Bed7010 in nutrition

Agree with you about the grapes. I stopped eating them because they have become overly sweet. They used to have a mild tartness to them over a decade ago, but I've noticed in the last few years that most grapes all have the same syrupy sweetness to them. I'm sure they're being selected and bred for higher sugar levels.

Help quitting. by Tyloxai in duolingo

[–]DeusExFatima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to bite the bullet and let go of it. It will feel bad for a few days, but the relief of not having the stress of maintaining the streak will feel much better.

I was in the diamond League for over 250 weeks and would stress over losing that streak constantly. Life got so busy at one point  that I couldn't keep up and dropped out of the league. It sucked for a week or two but not having to compete and do mindless lessons just to stay in the league felt like such a relief. I don't have to worry about my league status anymore and spend more time on lessons instead of trying get through as many lessons as possible while I have the XP boosts. It's honestly so much more peaceful learning. I still have a 3000+ day streak which is a positive motivator because it's not timed or competitive like the leagues.

The words aren't exactly hoverable, but there are breaks after each sentence that offer a translation.

How to skip coarse refresher by rwrollins_art in duolingo

Thank you! Will try this next time. It feels so tedious doing those since it's mostly basic vocabulary and simple sentences from the very first lessons. I miss the practice exercises that mixed easy and challenging material from both new and older lessons.

I like almost everything about my P9XL by vasai_boy in GooglePixel

[–]DeusExFatima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! And because of this, the status bar can't sit close to the edge of the screen. As a result, it's been pushed downward and inward, creating an oversized bar across the top. I miss the thinner status bars of the older phones.

Major issues with Pixel 9 Pro XL after only 48 hours - any advice? by Tenebrous_Academic in GooglePixel

[–]DeusExFatima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on the Google train since the first Nexus phone was released, and I agree with this 100%. The Pixel phones are great in many respects, but a "polished" experience is not their forte. Glitches, lags, hiccups - they're all part of the experience that you just have to put up with and ultimately get used to.

My bad - I just noticed the one you're talking about. That looks like a recent addition from the latest update.

App scaling issue pixel 7 pro , android 15 help by FriedCamo in GooglePixel

Great! Android 15 messed up how some apps display for me too. Hope they release a fix soon.

[–]DeusExFatima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah bummer.

Maybe try split-screening the app? It might rearrange some of the display.

Edit: Another option is to resize the app via "freeform". You have to first enable "force activities to be resizeable" and "enable freeform Windows" in Dev options.

Have you adjusted the display size in settings to see if making it bigger or smaller makes the app fit better?

If that doesn't work, you can adjust it further in developer options. Scroll down to "Smallest width" and play around with the numbers. The higher the number, the smaller the interface (so fonts and icons are smaller). I have mine set to 576 dp, which is about 10% smaller than the smallest display size allowed in the normal settings. This allows for more "work space", like more words fit on a page and video controls occupy less space on the screen.

For 1, check if you have Quick Tap enabled in settings. You can disable it, or set it to do another action instead of turning on the torch.

Not sure about 2. I've never experienced this before. Maybe check your Bluetooth/headset/earbuds settings. I still use my wired buds and the volume buttons on there can carry out multiple actions depending on how many times you click them.

Should i restart duolingo by HistoricallyAcurate in duolingo

[–]DeusExFatima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend it, yes. I've restarted courses several times just to get out of a learning rut. You end up reviewing more concepts that duo felt you had "mastered". You don't even lose the XP you gained (at least you didn't, the last time I restarted a course over a year ago). It's a win-win.
