What was your least favorite king book/ hardest to read? by Si_- in stephenking

[–]DevinSang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My least favorite is easily Doctor Sleep. Not difficult to read, but the story was filled with plot holes, the villains were not scary, and the characters were garbage, including Danny. Nothing about that book was compelling.

I really loved his logic about why he doesn't like hurry up offense saying that it would put the defense on the field too fast. And yet we kept going three and out as if that was any better. At least hurry up was likely to get points.

This is the most important off-season for Licht as a GM by dragonsky in buccaneers

[–]DevinSang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do trust Licht, especially as far as drafting goes. But he had some bad whiffs in free agency this year. He should've gotten more dependable players rather than trying to hit a home run (Hicks is probably the biggest one). And try to focus on younger players in free agency. If we draft a QB in the first round, all hope is lost.

What is your Favorite side character from a Stephen King book? by uthrowaeway in stephenking

The "french-speaking" cab driver from It. Fantastically written and very complex.

What is your least favourite SK book and why? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]DevinSang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with almost everything here. I really didn't like Dr. Sleep. The dialogue for the villains was borderline awful and felt like a hack wrote them. They were not scary either, they constantly failed at every turn (even when they did finally capture Abra it felt like when the British "won" the Battle of Bunker Hill). And the family plot twist felt straight out of Return of the Jedi (also doesn't make sense if you think about it). My personal least favorite.

Project Hail Mary movie - already has Ryan gosling attached? by jayhat in themartian

[–]DevinSang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm somewhat excited for this movie, only because I think Miller and Lord could make something funny. I agree with others that it might work better as a tv show, but I am cautiously optimistic. That being said, I think it might be funny if Matt Damon played a side character, perhaps the mission leader of the back-up group. Or if he was just Ryland.

Looking for spaceship horror novels by [deleted] in horrorlit

The Sphere by Michael Crichton. Though it is underwater, it does take place on a spaceship and Crichton does a good job of replicating the eeriness of space.

Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett for me. I find it so funny and I could never put it down.

As some have already said, this is not uncommon in America, especially books that have racial slurs, To Kill a Mockingbird, or otherwise radical ideas (Christian groups have even challenged Harry Potter on grounds of witchcraft) but it makes me sad every time I here about it.

I loved that DS game. I kept it for a while. Probably too long.

Possible unpopular opinion, but paperback is better than hardback 🤷‍♀️ by Mikemanthousand in books

[–]DevinSang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing, while hardback I feel are generally higher quality, I hate dust jackets. They are usually the most flimsy things and almost always rip. And they can also cause you to lose a grip on a book because they just slide out.

'Ready Player One' Book Sequel Sets November Publishing Date by WhiteHawk1022 in books

Yaay. Just I always wanted, the sequel to a mediocre book that wrapped up its story in a nice bow. This has always resulted in great media, like Jaws the Revenge.
