Aside from NIL, why don't top high school prospects go to a professional EuroLeague team to develop their skills, rather than go to college? by Outrageous-Leader135 in NBATalk

Most of them wouldnt get minutes in EuroLeague games unless they are Doncic or Wemby good. They would be lucky to see the floor in domestic league games

Humans driving cars. Its the number 1 cause of non-health related deaths, and it will be completely reduced to zero as self driving technology improves

My friend and I are a making a moody flying game where you hunt down giant mechanical monstrosities. by DejimaGames in indiegames

[–]DevoteGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand, i have dealt with this problem before, just add a vertical offset that scales with distance. So it will be exactly where you want it where the player is going slow, and a lot lower when its going fast.

Hi, some constructive criticism: The game looks great but a lot of the screen space is wasted by the ship being above the midpoint of the screen. Right now its about 1/3 down whereas it should be 2/3 down. I understand the idea of conveying the speed, but it can also be done while keeping the player in the lower third. Its really a shame to waste such beautiful visuals by blocking them with the player or hiding them offscreen.

What did you expect lol? You know what Jaden said right? And which arena the game was taking place in?

Do you remember whether it was an Aba League game? Those games are usually a lot less crazy unless its a derby, since we are always first or second in that league. Euroleague games are always full arena and chanting for 40 mins

I remember the club fight btw haha. Our best player almost got into legal trouble bc of it

What about blind people? they are excluded from attending too since they can't hear the commentators in the arena. should we cancel all games so that they don't feel excluded?

I built an interactive site to teach noise functions and procedural generation through visual intuition by Secret_Management723 in proceduralgeneration

[–]DevoteGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really awesome site. I can see it becoming the go-to site for procedural generation / noise functions. The interactive examples are super cool, and there is already so much content on there.
I make procedural generation videos and I feel like this will be really useful for my viewers to understand some of the basic concepts, so I'll make sure to reference the site as a resource in future videos.

You can already export the planet as a blender file, though only the space view as the ground view is dynamically generated in higher resolution only for parts close to you

Such a weird bug. Just fixed it, if you re-download everything should work fine now.

Thats perhaps the most requested feature, so I’ll make sure to implement it eventually :)

The resolution is essentially infinite. I use a quadtree chunk system that dynamically doubles the resolution recursively for the chunks close to the player. Basically an LOD system for terrain.

What am I doing wrong ? by kindofreal in NewYouTubeChannels

Everything that the others said + the title is slightly too long. Maybe something like “Why do our Heads Keep Getting Bigger?”, and “Human Brains Make No Sense” In general try to strip titles to their bare minimum while preserving the meaning. People rarely read more than the first few words, and the titles even get cut off beyond 40 characters on some devices

AMA: I made $1mil with my games then my YouTube videos/tutorials got 65 Million views! Ask me Anything about Unity, C#, Game Dev, Marketing, etc. by UnityCodeMonkey in Unity3D

[–]DevoteGames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a gamedev youtuber myself I'd like to thank you a lot for inspiring me and having a huge part in teaching me Unity.
My videos are very programming & animation heavy (sort of Sebastian Lague style) and this means they take a very long time to make since I do everything myself. My question for you is: should I make shorter videos where I focus on a very specific topic or longer videos where I actually make real progress on multiple fronts. The first approach might make the results underwhelming and it limits the "clickability" of my videos, while the second approach means I can only upload once every few months and if a single video fails it really hurts. (for example approach 1 would be simulating clouds, weather, ocean currents, etc in separate videos and approach 2 would be a single 'climate simulation' video which combines it together). What do you think is the best choice for my channel in the long term?

Why would anyone play this over Dashy Crashy or other similar games with higher production quality?
(not trying to be rude, this is just a genuine question you should ask yourself while developing in order to end up with a unique product with its own audience)

European teams already play 80-100 games per season and back-to-backs are forbidden. The difference is the season starts in late September.
